This might be the strangest Post I've ever made, but here goes.

Miss P and I went to a benefit today. One of the kids friends needs surgery to save her vision. So we went and gave what we could.

...we were always the volunteer parents. Our kids were involved in everything, so we did whatever we could to support them. Along the way we met and befriended many of their friends and families. Now that they are adults we are still friends.

The benefit was at the local LGBT+ bar. Many of the kids friends were there. I kinda stayed in the background when they were younger. For many of them today was the first time they were able to meet the real me.

All kinds of people were there. I felt totally comfortable. We had a good time. I think today was the first time I felt like I really made it. I mean like all the way made it.

....I will be 60 this fall. It took me a lifetime to get here. I've never been more at peace than in this moment. I just want it to last forever.

The universe never gives you more than you can handle. I've always believed that. The thing I never figured into that equation is, what if my personal growth means I can handle more now. With that in mind I have begun applying for new jobs. I've changed, and in more ways than just the obvious. So now it's time to put myself out there.

I know that for many of you that are reading this changing jobs is nothing new. So I think you can understand the boost in self worth that comes from living an authentic life. It seems that I'm in the same place.

Maybe the way to look at it is that the universe rewards someone who puts in the hard work. I'm going to find out!

Pride fest in Springfield, IL. Perfect weather brought out a large crowd. Miss P and I had a great time!

Quite by accident I have stumbled into a new look.

I kinda like it. Miss P thinks I look like a librarian.

I'm feeling the pressure of aging. Like it or not I'll be 60 in just a few months. So it was time to grow up just a bit. I miss my red hair!

Another visit with our beautiful daughter in Dallas. We all had a great time. This is the Oak Lawn United Methodist Church in Dallas. When the rainbow crosswalks were erased by the government the church did this in response. It warms my ancient heart to see this in Texas.

I'm officially in a bad relationship...with work.

They treat me like crap, I get upset and threaten to quit. Then I go home and cry myself to sleep. The next day the boss is extra nice and everyone tries to make it up to me. I start to feel better. Everything is ok for a bit and then....BOOM!

And the whole cycle starts again.

They just can't wrap their heads around having a transgender coworker in rural Illinois. They welcome my knowledge and experience, until it looks like the trans woman knows more or is better than them. That's when they get weird. One of my female coworkers said welcome to womanhood, this is what you fought for.

So much to talk about. First, I have been gone for a while. Miss P had a total knee replacement on the right side. So I have been caring for her. All is well, she will be better than new.

Things went off the rails at work. A disgruntled coworker rolled on our boss at the company Christmas party in front of the district supervisor. He made several accusations, some true, some not. Some of them involved other coworkers. Before the night was over everyone involved had formed a circular firing squad.

Heads rolled.

And then, I was promoted! I am now the senior representative on site and in charge of training.

Just, wow.

My boss, who was hesitant when he took over 2 years ago is now my biggest ally. He really needs me to do my magic for him. This is the glass ceiling for trans people. Next step is middle management. I WILL get there!

My cat is diabetic and I have to use these monitors for him. I got an email alert from the company about it on November 26. I didn't realize there wasn't an actual recall out yet.

News articles are great but I think direct info from the source is more important here, though all of the stuff above appears to be correct. For something as potentially impactful on peoples' health as this, I think the barrier to getting to the information should be as low as possible.

We just got home from a visit with our daughter in Texas. It's always good to see my baby girl.

That's us at the Dallas farmer's market. Not pictured was her dog Sadie.

I feel like I've said this before, but the Metro Plex is really welcoming and friendly. In spite of what the political machine says, the people of DFW are all cool. The same goes for Austin.

The most interesting experience happened on the way home. We stopped at a hotel in Joplin. The dinner room was full so we sat in the bar. The couple at the next table were headed home to the Dallas area very near where we were staying. So we struck up a conversation with them. A couple of hours (and several beers) later we called it a night.

It's not whether or not they knew I'm trans, it's really that they just didn't care. We were just travelers crossing paths. A couple of drinks and a few pleasant stories. Proof that life can be just that simple, all you need to be is kind.

The wonderful woman who works at the front desk gave me a huge hug. She sees hundreds of people, but for some reason she remembers me. I've no idea why.

The point is that there is hope. The small number of crappy people in this world are greatly outnumbered by the good ones. I just have to believe that we're gonna make it!
