On Wednesday evening, I had the awesome pleasure of supporting Bernie Sanders in a whole new way – as an extra in a PSA for LGBTQ rights. It’s produced by Gaby Hoffmann and directed by her talented counterpart, Chris Dapkins. You couldn’t ask for a more spectacular evening, complete with new friends, passionate conversations, LA magic hour, a couple PBRs and even a tortiouse stopped by to celebrate. Today rules because I discovered a video where I frolic with ancient animals and enchanting sea creatures. No, really! Visit Mammoth used my @stocksyunited photo of Mono Lake for an incredibly awesome animation series -- the VERY first that appears in the video. AND -- I'm literally their landing page image for the #NoSmallAdventure campaign. Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding area is truly magical. It's my favorite place in California and I miss it every day. It's really fantastic to be a part of the fairytale-like land they created with this amazing series. Yesterday, one of the coolest old ladies on the planet turned 80. No, my Grabols (a name I gave her as a toddler when I couldn’t say “grandma”) isn’t on social media, but I still reserve the right to brag about her and prove that age ain’t nothing but a number. Where to begin… Grabols is a total badass. Period. She is one of the strongest women I know and I’m lucky to have her as a role model all of these years. The eldest girl of 14 kids, Grabols is incredibly resilient, smart, hard-working, and tough as nails. She always tells is like it is and she doesn’t take shit from anyone. Grabols’ plethora of stories are amazing and some are tragic. She has a charming way of talking with a special slang that makes her anecdotes all the better. Some of them even rubbed off on the rest of us. (For example: My mom, sister, and I will forever say “purmple” instead of “purple.” There’s just something so weird and wonderful about that.) Grabols loves the water, the great outdoors, getting dirty, staying up late, and shooting rattlers with a BB gun who wander onto her dock. She isn’t afraid of anything, especially her age, and she sure as shit ain’t afraid to get on a waterski at 80 years old. If you’re whining about something, she’ll look you straight in the face and say “Oh, poor lil baby” and then laugh. Grabols is the epitome of living young-at-heart and I will forever admire her for that – and aspire to be just like that. When someone you know uses the excuse “I’m too old” to try something new, to take a chance, to be a badass, to be young-at-heart forever – please share this post with them.

Happiest of birthdays to my Grabols. She is living proof that age doesn’t mean a damn thing at all!
