Elisabeth Benjamin, born in London in 1908, was one of the few women architects in the Britain in the interwar period. After training at the Architectural Association, Benjamin worked for Edward Kutyens as an assistant. In her own practice Benjamin designed a number of modernist houses, including this one in Gerrads Cross, known as The St. George and Dragon house
