What about me pt.2 - Ethan
You wipe your eyes and wash your face getting ready to leave the locked bathroom, thinking that Ethan already left due to the silence. You quietly open the door. Your straight face is quickly turning into a frown. You look down at the bed only to see a silently weeping Ethan repeating the words ‘I’m sorry’. Guilt began to surge through your veins. Thinking that you caused him to feel this way, your at a lost for words when he lifts his head up, eyes meeting yours.
“(Y/N) I’m so sorry. Please don’t leave babe, I need you.”
You were always one to cave in but not today, not now.
“Why do you need me Ethan?” Your eyes at the floor, you knew If you looked at him again you would start to cry.
“I-I-I just need you (Y/N). I can’t function without you” he attempts to grab your arm but you jerk away.
You sigh, holding back the tears that are at the rim of your eyes. “If you need me so much Ethan, why do you keep doing this to me? You keep pushing me aside like I’m a task on your to do list.” You couldn’t hold the tears back as they stream down your face.
“You only really wanna spend time with me when you want something, it’s makes me feel bad. Like there’s something wrong with me.” His eyes open wider than they were before in shock.
“(Y/N), you know I would never purposely try to make you feel less of yourself. Your everything to me (Y/N)!”
He clasps his hands behind his head, sighing out stress.
“You know that this is what you were coming into when you agreed to date me.”
You start to wander around the room thinking of something to reply with because you know that he was right. Moving your gaze from the colour changing LED lights to the necklace with your name on it written in cursive.
It was your makeshift promise ring, because you didn’t have enough money to purchase a real one.
Tears are threatening your eyes as is the silence. You hold the necklace to your heart not knowing what would happen if you ended things with him. So caught up in your feelings you forgot that Ethan was still there. You turn around only for Ethan’s face to be inches away from yours. His breath fanning over your lips.
You cup his face in your head and whisper a shaky “I’m sorry”.
“I truly am, I was being so selfish I never once thought about your feelings.”
You hiccup letting the tears overrule you once again.
“I love you Ethan, I truly do. But I-I-I just...”
You turn your face towards the wall. But Ethan turns it towards him.
“You just what (Y/N),”
He puts your hands in his and pulls you closer than before.
“I just can’t do this Ethan, I can’t do us. It’s too much for me. I’m not gaining anything in this relationship and I’m sick of it.”
His eyes look down at the ground, tears dropping every passing second.
“Ethan” You say through tears. You push his chin up so he has to look at you.
“I have to go and you have to let me” you hold his gaze as long as you can before he turns away.
“I want you to be happy (Y/N), whether it’s with me or someone else. I’ll let you go (Y/N).”
You nod and collect your things. No other words are said as you walk out of the Dolan twin household. Sad that you left someone you love but happy that you let him go for someone else. You wipe your tears and drive off to a new chapter in your life.
