So recently my Pokemon Rejuv obsession has been slowly merging with my old obsession over Angry Birds and now I’m making up headcanons for the type of bird each member of the main cast would be if they were a part of the AB universe…
So on that note, here’s what I have for the East Gearen Trio:
Melia -
So for context with this one, I found myself viewing the Theolia kids as different kinds of corvids like crows, magpies, etc. and Melia is no exception, because of this I personally have her pinned down as an Azure-winged Magpie (pictured below)
Azure wings are known to be highly social and intelligent birds with a disposition that is often described as bold, curious and cooperative. I tried to find birds that matched the trio’s appearances as well as personalities and to me this particular bird fit Melia best (or at least pre-Ch16 Melia… idk)
Venam -
Ok, this woman was legit the hardest person to find a matching bird for because while there are a lot of birds that have purple feathers none of them really fall in line with her standing as a poison type gym leader and the only bird that does is the Hooded Pithoui a bird that distributes poison from the food it eats across its entire body to deter predators and while it is fairly viable in that regard there’s just one problem, being the fact that it’s of the Oriole family and orioles are known to have orange plumage so that was a no go unfortunately… eventually however I would find myself settling on the bird pictured below:
This is the Great-tailed Grackle, a bird that is known to be confident, social, highly assertive and notoriously loud to boot which if you think about it is kinda accurate to Venam, additionally male and female grackles are wildly different from each other in terms of appearance with males having iridescent purplish black feathers like the one pictured above while females have duller, brown feathers which while it isn’t entirely accurate to her could still allude to the fact that her purple hair is dyed
Ren -
Ren was another difficult one if I’m being honest, originally I wanted to make him a raven but since corvids are pretty much exclusive to the Theolias at this point I’m unable to do that, so instead I made him into a common blackbird, also known as the Eurasian Blackbird as shown below:
I don’t have much of an explanation for this one except for the fact that I like blackbirds and I think they’re cute and at the same time I also like Ren so… yeah.
