Happy 30th Anniversary Pokemon, thank you for being such a huge part of my life. I'm looking forward for what you have in store next!
Hard to believe it's already been 30 years - and I was there somewhere for most of it. From games, manga and anime to TCG, art and various other collections. Still here with the same love and same passion for it. Still with commemorative art yearly!
This is my love letter to the franchise ❤️💙💚
I first get to know the franchise like most of my peers - from the anime, with the initial craze at the start of the century. I wasn't there for the very first wave, I've never really had a way to get a Gameboy, so I haven't play Red or Blue back then. Anime was my thing and collecting what merch I could find was a pastime. Later I fell of a bit, as it often happen with fades, but surprisingly it wasn't a fade. And it came back right when Gen V was about to be released. That's why it's so important and special to me, it was my comeback to Pokemon and to stay this time. That's also why I'm a DS and 3DS girlie.
The franchise has it's ups and downs and a fair share of mistakes, I'm not gonna lie, but there's something in it, something compelling. Maybe it's just a perfect blend of things for me - fictional animals with fantastical powers, journeys through imaginary lands, collecting, cataloging, counting. Stories, both canonical and also a very potent ground for original ones. A chest full of inspirational concepts, a ready-made canvas for experimenting, a world you can dive in and take what you like the most.
I've collected some snippets from my years with Pokemon - from games, manga, cards to drawings, crafts and cosplays. Maybe I'm one note - but maybe I'm not. Maybe I just like this universe too much (maybe I'm Unova-focused tho). But this franchise has the weird ability to get me to work, to craft, to sketch, to sew. Funny how things work. I just like my fictional animals a lot.
And what's my favourite Pokemon? It's always hard to tell, hard to pick from literally hundreds and hundreds of Pokemon we have today. You may look at my work and say it's Zorua for sure and while I won't disagree, I think I'll never be sure. I'm very fond of every single one of dog or canine Pokemon, I really like dragons, I love my dark types, I pick my fire starters. Every Pokemon is someone's favourite and everyone has their own Top 100.
So thank you Pokemon, for having this very special place in my heart for all this years, being my hobby in more than one aspect, giving me a source of inspiration, push to fear less to do things and even being my field of expertise in a way. It is my comfort series that's always with me, always there for me. Happy for all those years, let's hope for 30 more in the future!
weekly zorua special (technically 14 and counting!) - Celebration
HAPPY POKEMON DAY - 30TH!
no way it's been almost this long since i sold my soul to this franchise. cheers to more years with more silly doodles and maybe even something bigger in the near future ❤️💙💚
introducing Cherry, the first OC to hit the blog, a companion to a character i'm working on. have a very very brief reference sheet, full expanded version soon-ish
hello 15th anniversary of my favourite games in this whole franchise! 🖤🤍
i have a commemorative artwork in the works, i've just been busier than i thought would be this month. but i'm also making anniversary stickes and whatnot so have some wips and some self-promo (i'm paneling on a con this saturday)
sorry not sorry more hilda content for now but i think i'm justified today. also, hilda is the one character (besides one other) that can consistently take me out of any artblock. i just really like her
of course more zorua still coming your way in the very near future
cheers to the pokemon black & white games!
and i'm sorry, have you SEEN the newest project voltage song???
