I’ve decided I do want to archive/restart after all - I have the new blog made, and I’m going to start following people now but I won’t officially switch over until a bit later ❤️ I want to get tags/etc set up first

i also think that roslin absolutely would have been a target in the fallout of walder frey’s death, even though she’s a woman, has been relatively sheltered, kept to herself, etc. i think it’s fairly well known that she was favored in the sense of being the favorite potential pawn, and there would have been at least a few freys who got it into their heads that she was a threat to their own inheritance. (had this happened, i do think her brothers would have made every attempt to get her out of there - perwyn and olyvar, at the very least.)

roslin is, i think, more delicate than even a lot of my softest muses are. she tends to get sick easily, and even watching children play roughly makes her nervous. (she would have to truly bite her tongue not to scold any children she has when they’re rough-housing as play, even in something like a snowball fight.) she bruises easily, and she’s not exactly athletic. she wouldn’t be able to run a far distance, or lift much by way of heavy weight. but what she is is surprisingly resilient, and strong when she needs to be. a lot of her perceived delicacy also comes from shyness, all of which stems from the way she was raised (the lingering presence of the fact that, if her father dies, there will be inter-family battles over who inherits what, and it will turn bloody. the fact that she knows, even as a child, that the only people she can trust in the world are her full-blood brothers, the other rosby-freys.

         she has never been the sort to give in to wild dreaming. still, even if she had ever allowed herself some flight of fancy where gale was concerned, it had never quite been this. how could she ever have known to think of the details, after all? the destruction of their district, rebellion, war, a slow knitting together over time. still. not even in her wildest dreams would she have thought she’d be spending her mornings waking from a bed shared with him, moving through the early light to prepare for a day of work in district two. (or...trying to, as case may be.) 

         “share me?” she asks, glancing down to the hand held around hers, caught in the very last moment before she could get out of bed. “i’m not sure you have that authority one way or the other, hawthorne.” she hesitates - - but only for a moment. she can take one day, can’t she? hell, paylor will probably celebrate. she’s been reminding madge to take more time for herself for months. and...and there’s something in gale’s voice that’s tugging at her. some vulnerability, some hurt, that she can’t quite place. not yet. 

         her hesitation is only moments long. within another blink, she slides back between the covers, and beneath the arm that had reached out to catch her, settling her head so close to his own that their noses nearly brush. “hey,” she murmurs, lifting her hand to brush the backs of her fingers against his cheek. “everything ok?” (they’re not, sometimes. after all. both of them - - both of them aren’t, always, ok. maybe they won’t ever be. but maybe, too, it can be enough that there’s always someone there who knows.)
