Yup! Still active! Oh the nostalgia! The AqouRainbow sure was a really cool project to be a part of! XD For the software question, as an animation student I had access to Autodesk Maya for the modeling and animation and such and Vray for rendering. Which if you are just looking into animation for fun I wouldn't recommend cuz by themselves they cost a pretty penny and together they costs and arm and a leg. Honestly if you're looking into animation I would try Blender, as an option. I haven't had time to try it myself but I hear really great things and it goes for the low low price of free, and you really can't beat that. Anyways Good luck with whatever project you're making!
