“You Say I’m in Love” by Banes World

You can Say I’m in Love with this sing. Banes World I totally pick up the 90s looks and a little bit of Mac DeMarco’s twangy, dreamy vibes. It is a really dreamy song sung by a really dream guy. Listening to this song late at night, thinking about someone you’re drooling over is oddly satisfying. God, I just wish this song was longer. I could listen to this one repeat. It gives you the illusion that the room is spinning because the drugs have kicked in, but really, It’s just because of the song being that good. It just makes my heart race and yet it calms me. Love, love, love this song.

Sweet FA album by Peach Pit

Peach Pit has a full on 90s nostalgia sound. The music videos are mesmerizing and the songs are enchanting. It is the perfect soundtrack to put on when you’re having a chill hangout session with your friends or driving around town when the sun is setting. This is a group of very talented people with a spirit of sharing. You can tell they’re a very eclectic bunch but great people. The music  is very relaxing and gives you a high no other blunt can give. The voice in this group perfectly complements the instrumental. I just can’t believe it took me this long to discover Peach Pit. It is just too good.

“Tiger Striped Sky” by Roo Panes

I hear this song last fall on Spotify on an autumn playlist and that is exactly what it resembles. Fall. It’s simply warm, homey, acoustic sounding mushy happy friendly song. It is so calming. It is something that you listen to when you wake up early and brew some coffee and look out the slightly frostbitten windows. I reminds me of the deep bit of fall where all it is composed of are colored leaves and pumpkins. To me, this song is about rebirth and the fresh eyes that can lay unto the sky. It is beautiful. Give it a listen.

Landmark Album by Hippo Campus

Hippo Campus is, by far, my favorite band of modern times. They are an alternative pop group and oh man are they gorgeous. Their landmark album. I can listen all the way through, on repeat. I highly recommend looking up them performing their album live. They are all so talented and the music is beautiful. All of their songs are just so catchy, you can't not sing them. Back in January, I was doing the usual on youtube, clicking around on alternative low-key music artists for some cool videos and It just so happens I watch Hippo Campus and I immediately fall in love with these four boys. I so wish I could get tickets to their landmark tour. If any of you have the opportunity doing so, go to the damn concert. They are truly amazing.

“Foreplay” by Jalen Santoy

This song. I was shown this song by a guy a was kind of with a while ago when it was still a fresh relationship. Now, whenever I like someone or have thoughts a guy this song just comes to mind and i put it on repeat until I’m over him. This song perfectly words feelings about someone special. The saxophone in this song just makes it ten times more sexy, and the lyrics already portray that (not to mention Santoy’s voice). It is the perfect song to put on late at night when your driving around alone to clear your mind with the windows rolled down. All that comes up in my mind right now is “oh baby, oh baby”. Just give it a listen and try to tell me you don’t like it man.

“Everybody Loves You Now” by Billy Joel

I love Billy Joel through thick and thin. I have just heard this song and it is just the best low-key roast song about ignorant people. I feel like when you listen to this song you immediately think of someone you low-key despise because of their popularity and ignorance, boy, I sure do. It’s very fast paced and a great hype-up song. I sure love this Piano Man. He is such a versatile artist which makes him so lovable. He composes wonderful melodies which get stuck in your head all day long and the only way to get it out of your head is to listen to it- but no, you can’t just listen to one song that’s stuck in your head, you have to listen to the whole damn album.

“Baby Boy” by Felly

Felly, I swear, is the next big thing. Back in my hometown, on the East Coast, all of my friends are raving about the rapper. He recently released a new album entitled Wild Strawberries. I am not going to lie, I have not listened to it all yet, but that is my priority. I stopped listening to the rest of the album once I hit the song Baby Boy. It is one of the best songs i’ve heard that has been released this year. When I hear the words baby and boy together I immediately think Childish Gambino. Honey, not anymore. I can assure you that Felly’s sound is something that doesn’t blend in with rap today, it is different and so original. It has those chill Saturday afternoon vibes ringing around my room. Highly recommend Felly for those in need of some fresh rap.

“Every Picture Tells A Story” by Rod Stewart

This song plays in the background of this scene in the phenomenal movie, Almost Famous. I am just in love with this voice, the pronunciation of the words, everything. This song was composed so well. That one part of this song when the lyric goes, “I sincerely thought I was so complete,” it felt so stripped and pure and just wow it makes me think. The soundtrack in Almost Famous is almost perfect. Actually... It’s pretty damn perfect if you ask me. There are so many songs there that make me happy cry. But, thats a post for another day...

“Tempted” by Squeeze

The title of this song and the band name are just bound to be stung together. This song is just so upbeat. I first heard it in the movie Reality Bites, you know that scene where Lelaina and Vickie are singing in the car right before that awful dude crashes into them? When they’re singing along to the song, it just made me so happy. This is a song you can sing in the car with your best friend, especially when you can relate to liking ummm... a fruit of another. This movie I really wasn’t a fan of but the characters are just so lovable you just can’t not watch this movie. I’ve always wanted to like Lelaina, but I totally am a Vickie. Crazed with the 70s. Highly recommend this song, and low-key recommend this movie if you’re in a movie slump.
