“DO I?” He replied thoughtfully, trailing his fingers through his long, dark brown hair, tousling it with every finger trail as he peered across the table at her. She possessed the aura of the north star from what he could tell. “PERHAPS ONLY SOMEONE WITH A PAIR OF VIGILANT, KEEN EYES WOULD BE CAPABLE OF RECOGNIZING YOUR TRUTH AS FACT.” That was his consensus. “BUT FOR THE REST OF US, THERE’S SIMPLY TOO MANY STARS FOR ANY ONE OF THEM TO TRULY STAND OUT. YET THERE’S SOME VALIDITY IN WHAT YOU SAY.” And this woman would be a hard one to miss, star or not.
“OH?” Lucien cocked an eyebrow at her boastful comment. Boastful for the way she claimed to know how to handle crowds. “PLEASE, ENLIGHTEN ME ON THIS … GUIDANCE.”
“Would you have asked otherwise?” She smoothed back a stray wisp of hair with the slightest smile. An exchange of questions could be a fun game, a good way to pass the time if nothing else. “Or perhaps someone with a strong belief in that which they see in their direct surroundings.” Those mortals who saw what existed beyond their simple understanding of the world would understand her truth and accept it as the truth. “Well of course, it takes someone who wishes to notice. But my words are valid nonetheless.” She certainly wasn’t a liar.
“Stars have their secrets darling but I’ll let you in on something.” Melody leaned in before whispering conspiratorially, “It’s all in staying calm and confident, cool and collected.”
