  Cisco has a whole speech planned – he has had years, after all, partlybecause he has been expecting it, partly because vibes are on his side. It’s agreat speech. About how disappointed he is. About how many bedtimes storiesabout naughty speedsters time traveling ( and giving him headaches ) he has told Don and her. About how risky and dangerous and stupid it was of her, young lady.

  But before he can even open his mouth, she leans in to press a kiss tohis cheek with a ‘please don’t be mad?’ so innocent his mind GOES BLANK.

  The lecture turns into a tight hug before it even starts, as he wraps his arms around her, for once unable to get out a word.

  Okay, no, he changed his mind. Her enthusiasm was tiring. It was tiring and making the Monday morning even more tiring and he was not sure why he was still smiling along with her. “Uh. Ah. You know, you could always go for a morning run in the afternoon. Or not go on a run at all.” Which was the choice he made, and not only because he had too much work to even bother putting his running shoes on. “But I’m glad you’re enjoying your alone time. Without nobody else around.”

  Anyone except him. If she cared so much about peace and quiet, why was she still talking to him?

  He didn’t like getting out of the bed at that hour but what was the point of staying there, if all he got was nightmares? “Yeah, I’ve got what you’re saying. Jitters is – SPECIAL. Guess it depends on your experience with it, though.” Good things happened in there; bad, too. It was a special place for the team. And he hesitated at the surprisingly accurate description of himself; because he was careful and not that well-known at all. Keeping the info on Vibe away from the public and never giving out exclusives.

  There really was something about this girl. “Yeah. Yeah. He probably doesn’t care about getting a coffee, anyway.” He kind of did. “The flavor’s crucial. You’ve gotta make it the right one, not that I know what that would be.”

   “It wouldn’t be a morning run if it was in the afternoon.” She said, a note of ‘duh’ in her tone as she shook her head at her uncle. “Beside’s running is fun! And so is being alone, but company isn’t that bad.” she said, brightly. “I normally go on runs with my brother but he’s not in town.” She was missing him too, but she would never let him know that. “Or with my Dad! Sometimes Mom joins in, but it’s mostly the three of us.” 

   Was that too much information about her family? Surely not - LOTS of people have mothers, fathers and brothers! She didn’t name drop, so that was all good!

   “So far I’ve had good experiences! I mean, I’ve met some pretty great people there so far. Everyone is so nice.” Dawn said with a nod of her head and a hum.

   “Oh, I dunno! If I was a hero, I’d love a coffee.” Which she did have. She shared it with Don, but still. “I’m guessing he’d want one too. Say! If you were in charge of making the flavours of the coffee’s, what kind would you do for Vibe? I’d guess something sweet, but with a kick to it.”

      “I appreciate the offer,” Bayleah said with a smile at the girl. “But I’m afraid unless you know how I can ease tensions between the Silver Empire and the planet Aleria, you would do no better than I.” She lowered her head, resting it on her fingers as she shut her eyes. “They claim that my Empire has been secretly mining their polar caps, but... we haven’t.” she sounded a little helpless, and that might be because she didn’t know what to do. “I can’t find any report of any official order being made of such a thing - not that we WOULD, but I had to look. With this information the Alerians simply call me a liar.” she sighed again. “I would go and look at this supposed mining site myself but I cannot without the Alerian government’s permission - which I do not have.”
