Judgement

upright: resurrection, reflection, reckoning, judgement, and awakening. reversed: lack of self-awareness, doubt, self-loathing.

Yet another tarot card edit, this time for my Curse of Strahd character, Avra! She's a shadar-kai/reborn phantom rogue who was brought back from the dead by the Raven Queen to serve as her chosen assassin. She was sent to Barovia to kill a rogue lich, but one of the people meant to help her (a raven given human form by the Raven Queen) has made a bargain with him instead...

Her epithet in my notes is "the revenant", and I think it's pretty obvious why. And also pretty obvious why she gets the Judgement card. (Resurrected from the dead, brings her goddess's judgement upon people, etc.)

In this case the reversed version of the card is also fitting, or at least it most likely will be as her arc progresses... (Though the "lack of self-awareness" is pretty accurate, given recent events in the campaign.)

Oh, and of course I had to include a raven looking down on Avra. The Raven Queen does keep a very close eye on her, even now that she's in Barovia...

i saw a mutual post something about the concept of being a hater and how we should just let people enjoy things without feeling the need to act like someone is somehow superior in comparison to others who enjoy certain things, and i have Thoughts.

mostly that a lot of the things i personally like are considered “childish” or “juvenile” and how that’s often rooted in misogyny (which, as an afab non-binary person, i have experienced firsthand, especially as a teenager who maintained interest in things from when i was a child)

hell, i’m guilty of thinking that i’m not allowed to talk about the books i read because the genres i like (romantasy lol) are often called childish and juvenile by a majority of people outside of the sphere of people who also enjoy that genre.

people often see things i enjoy (romantasy books, taylor swift’s music, etc) as inferior to other literary genres/music artists/etc, especially because a lot of the people who enjoy those things are women, and god forbid women enjoy things, right? /s

that’s not to say that everyone who enjoys those things are women, but they are often the target audience for those things, and if you aren’t a woman and you enjoy the things i mentioned, there’s also judgement there, too.

anyways yeah, that’s just something i noticed when thinking about the general subject in my own time, and i wanted to talk about it.
