short post about a song i like
this song is so somber... sometimes i just listen to it when i want a vibe like that
it's (presumably) about a screenplay writer whose wife left him for another man, told the only way he knows how: through script formatting! the person singing is juxtaposed by another voice reading the supposed stage directions this voice was a bit intrusive for me at first but the idea grew on me so i can tolerate it LOL
i love all the references to screenplay production in the lyrics, such as "he pushed me out of frame" or "the iris closes down" the "i missed my close-up, i've got myself to blame" hits really well for me and idk why
and my favorite little touch is that the stage directions get replaced with some horns after the lyric "my scenes are cut out", realized that detail recently its so clever
overall really fun song/short story to listen to! i love tmbg
