Been really into taking pics in NYC lately.

This is my friend Wyz (pronounced Wise) from Singapore. He’s also a vocal coach. A while back @therealjacksepticeye asked about overtone singing. If you listen closely with headphones, you can hear overtones making the pitches to “You Are My Sunshine.” You’ll notice that as he moves down in pitch for the overtones, he uses the darker qualities of an ER sound and as he moves up in pitch, he adds more EE to the sound. This is because an EE vowel kicks up higher frequencies and a darker variety of vowel like the ER kicks up lower frequencies.

Lower Larynx Positions-Dopey sounds, dark, woofy

Ex- Angus from Night in the Woods, Sans, Napstablook

Rasp/ false cord distortion- Sandpapery, dry, rough, gritty

Ex: Undyne, Greg (NITW), Monster Kid

Falsetto- Hooty, light, thin

Ex: Onion San, Napstablook

Arytenoid Growls- Dark and rattly, grumbly

Punch Up, Asgore, the New Yorker/Boston variety of Sans, Mae’s Dad (NITW)

Vocal fry- Creaky, lazy, popcorny, sometimes a dry shriek like quality

Ex- Flowey the Flower when he’s more psychotic, Bea (NITW), sometimes Greg (NITW)

Lisps and tongue stuff- Lisps =Tongue hitting between the teeth on S’s instead of behind- Ex- most female and or kid characters he voices including Susie from Kindergarten, Nugget

Tongue retraction- Creates a gurgled, dark sound- Typically used for old characters, also uses fry there too

I genuinely appreciate Sean openly talking about his struggles with things like this. It helps others remember that they are never alone in these things. I’ve had anxiety for many years. It’s gotten a bit better, but I am definitely someone who constantly over analyzes and over thinks things on a very consistent basis. @therealjacksepticeye
