Leviathan blinked wearily as the clock on his monitor flashed 3:00 AM. You trudged back to your room four hours ago, exhaustion weighing heavily on your movements.
"G'night, Levs. Go to sleep soon. We have classes in the morning," with a tired smile and kiss on the cheek, you went to your room for some much-needed rest.
Levi basked in the afterglow of your presence until he was hallucinating from drowsiness. With a heavy sigh, he saved his game progress and turned off his monitor. His bones cracked as he stood up.
The tub was strewn with blankets and plushies, courtesy of you, as you lay in Levi's tub while he was gaming. He enjoyed nights like this. Both of you were in your own worlds, but stayed linked. It filled his heart with delight to hear the sounds of you chortling at social media posts on your phone.
Levi left the tub as is, eager to wrap himself in the blanket you were using. It was covered in your scent. He smiled at the thought of you before pushing open his bedroom door.
The hallways were empty. Everyone was asleep, save for Leviathan himself. He tiptoed out and into the bathroom to do his simple night routine. When he was done, he made his way to your room.
Levi stood outside the door for a moment, gathering his courage. Even if he did this every night, he feared waking you up. After a shaky, deep breath, he cracked your door open.
The room was dark for a moment as his eyes adjusted to the lack of light. Levi smiled to himself at your peaceful sleeping figure, then turned his head to the side to listen for your breathing. Once he confirmed you were still alive, he lingered for another moment to make sure you weren't having any nightmares. He smiled again when the coast was clear.
"Sleep well, MC," he murmured, barely loud enough for himself to hear. You shifted in your sleep, and Levi tensed. Shit shit shit, did he wake you up?
"Levs..." you groaned, half awake, "Come in."
Levi made a confused sound, but obeyed nonetheless. He shut the door behind him and stood in the pitch black darkness of your room, eyes glowing in the dark.
"I-I'm sorry, MC, I didn't mean to wake you up-"
He saw you wave your hand absentmindedly as you shimmied to the wall. You pushed your covers to the side.
"Who else would I be talking to right now?"
There was a teasing tone to your tired voice. Levi rubbed his sweaty palms on the side of his pants and slowly made his way over to your bed. He hesitated, not wanting to disturb your sleep more than he already had.
You blindly reached out for your boyfriend, pulling him down when your fingers wrapped around his wrist. Levi stumbled onto the bed, almost falling on top of you. He quickly situated himself under the covers and lay stiffly next to you.
You rolled on your side, "Let's cuddle."
Levi could feel the blush on his cheeks getting warmer, "Are you sure? You want to cuddle with me? You won't be grossed out or anything?"
"Why would I? You're my boyfriend," Not waiting for an answer, you lay your head on Levi's chest and throw an arm over him. A giggle escaped your mouth at the squeak he gave. He almost sounded like a stuffed toy.
The demon was speechless for a moment, processing the fact that you actually wanted to touch him. He snapped back to reality when you turned your head to place a tender kiss where you lay.
"I know what's going through your mind," you sighed, "I won't get grossed out by you. I love you, Levi, and would love to cuddle. If you're truly uncomfortable, then you can go back to your room, okay?"
Leviathan let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. His body loosened, and he wrapped his arms around you. Tears pricked his eyes at the thoughtfulness of your words.
"No, I'll stay right here with you. I...was going to sleep with the blanket you used earlier so I could fall asleep to your scent, but this is a thousand times better."
You hummed as Levi rested a hand on your head. He idly rubbed strands of your hair in between his fingers, letting himself relax. Sleeping in an actual bed was unfamiliar to him. This time, he was sure he'd be able to fall asleep if you were curled up next to him.
"I'm glad I could be of service. Goodnight, Levi."
Leviathan waited until your breathing evened out before he whispered, "I love you, too."
You didn't have the heart to tell him you were still awake.
