at first i was a little thrown by rhaenyra sobbing her guts out upon executing otto because it’s so. Stark like it upends everything soooo harshly. but in a franchise where lopping off heads is so commonplace and nameless guards are constantly getting shanked— it’s a big big choice to suddenly linger on the act as *murder*, as something grave, disturbing and frightening, as a genuine stain on the soul. a lot rests on emma’s acting there. it reverbates through their entire body, it looks so unnaturalllllll it’s awesome. wonderful, strange, deeply humanist moment that made me feel quite ill. the way this show treats violence is so fascinating. And it’s truly channeling the spirit of asoiaf ❤️
