I honestly don't give a flying fuck if someone dislikes the drivers I root for. I don't care if you root for their car to fail mid race, if you want them to experience horrors every single racing weekend, and I don't even care if you will bend reality just a little bit to prop up your favourite driver even if it's at the expense of mine. I'm a fan and so are you, the main core of being a fan is tribalism, always have been.
But what's happening currently on f1 social media spaces is not normal fan behavior, it's mass pychosis. It's not even just assuming things in bad faith for an agenda, no, a delusion some user made up is now being treated as factual. Every single take or interaction concerning whichever driver I have seen is so mindblowingly stupid I can't even put them into words.
It's not angering, it's not funny, it's not annoying, it's straigt up scary, because you can tell that 95% post of them are dead serious. They do truly believe that these white rich people are being persecuted for expressing whatever opinion they have. Suddenly there are no more subjective opinions allowed, no, there is only one true truth and everyone who says otherwise will be called every single offensive and problematic attribute one can come up with.
