7kpp sideblog of queen-scribbles, because I wanted to. :) I'll talk about all my MCs and share a lot of stats, just because the notebook I was keeping them in is getting full. But the three I'll probably talk about the most are Jeiana(Jiyel scholar), Nellie(Hise pirate), and Sadie(Arland princess), with maybe an occasional guest appearance from Carlotta(Corval lady). Irina's arrival to the Summit was rather more low-key than she'd been expecting(dreading, more like). Though she supposed with so many delegates arriving, giving each fanfare and accolades would take ages.

And being hustled to her room for the upcoming weeks with minimal interaction suited her just fine. She clasped her hands tightly as she walked to resist scratching the cuts that marked her wrists. The earlier application of salve was wearing off, and the low grade buzzing itch grew stronger around the half-healed scabs. Irina bit her lip and tipped her head forward, hiding her thoughts behind her bangs.

"Here," the porter grunted, managing to twist open the door knob even with one of her bags in hand. He and the others helping wrangled her things into the well-appointed space, leaving her alone.

Rather, alone, save the silent silver-haired young man watching her through violet eyes.

Startled by his presence, Irina dropped a rough curtsy. "Irina Lux, of Hise," she mumbled.

The man inclined his hand respectfully. "Jasper. Your butler for the Summit, Lady Irina." He studied her, not seeming put off by the burn scars that covered her left side, lingering on her tightly clasped hands, "I was given instruction that you have... healing injuries to tend?"

Irina nodded, pointing to the smaller of her two trunks. "There's a salve in there, to be applied twice every day."

Jasper moved to the trunk and located the jar. "I will handle the process myself, to help keep word of it from spreading. Are you due now?"

Another nod, silent relief at the minimizing of rumor on her behalf. She loosened her hands and rolled up her sleeves just far enough to remove bandages and display the forming scars.

Jasper didn't flinch at the sight. Instead he gently guided her to a chair and waited until she'd sat. "Your maids will be along shortly, so why don't you tell me some things about yourself while I work? Knowing your strengths and weaknesses will ensure I am best able to help you during your time here."

She could see the sense of that. And there was something about him that urged her to trust. So Irina sat and watched him gently tend her scars as she filled him in on any details she thought relevant.

The first time she sought him out for dancing lessons, it took her almost the whole day to find time and courage. She knew it was a weakness, with her upbringing and reclusive last few years. That didn't make it any easier, asking someone for help with something that would force them into close proximity.

To her relief, Jasper was amenable, and didn't make a big fuss about it. No scolding about her lack of grace, no presumptions, simply quiet unflinching support. He counted out the timing, showed her where and when to step, encouraged through difficult places. His hands maintained a light grip on hers throughout, guiding rather than grasping, and Irina found herself rather proud when they finished and he praised her progress.

She could do this. She was improving and had someone who believed in her.

"Thank you," she said to Jasper afterward as he tended to her wrists, her voice just above a murmur.

"Of course, Lady Irina," he replied, eyes on his task. "Always happy to help."

"What do you see yourself accomplishing?"

Even three days after hearing the derisive words from the Matchmaker, they still echoed in Irina's head. The 'mad and withered' girl from Hise, burned, broken, hiding her flaws with long hair and modest clothes. Largely here to get out from under her father's watchful eye.

She stared out the window as she mulled it over, trying to find an answer that fit and would be satisfactory. She sensed a presence behind her more than hearing someone approach. Only one person with access to her chambers was so quiet. "Jasper, do you think there's a point to me being here?"

"Of course," he said, continuing after a moment's pause, "Any who qualify for the delegations have skill and virtues that would be... attractive to some. It's a matter of knowing how best to utilize your skills and finding the one who will most appreciate them." He cleared his throat faintly. "It is time to practice dance some more, my lady."

Shaking off her melancholic thoughts for the moment, Irina turned away from the window to join him. "Of course. Thank you for your continued efforts in this regard."

"It's my duty as your butler," Jasper said smoothly. "I'm always happy to help, Lady Irina." He guided her hands into position. "Today, we start like this..."

By the third week, both her wrists and her dancing showed drastic improvement. Given both were thanks to the same person, she found herself looking forward to any time they had together at least as much as time spent with her fellow delegates.

Today, as they danced, Irina felt the confidence in her steps, keeping time perfectly, her hands sure and steady in Jasper's. Her heart raced, surely from the exertion of the past hour and not the approving tilt to Jasper's lips. But it didn't slow when they were done. If anything his half-acceptance, half deflection of her thanks made it speed up.

She wanted to find an excuse to linger, she realized. To stay here with him, rather than attend... whatever she had agreed to for the afternoon. But no. That would defeat the purpose. That wasn't why she was here. Was it? Irina shook herself out of her contemplations, thanked Jasper again, and made herself stride from the room, hopefully in the correct direction.

Jasper was, as always, careful and focused as he smoothed the healing salve onto her wrists. He never treat it otherwise, but this time... this time he seemed to be lingering. And the long, light strokes had Irina's pulse up almost to the heights of dancing.

She hoped he didn't notice.

His thumb slowed even further as it circled the end of one scar.

He'd probably noticed.

Maybe that wasn't the worst thing.

Jasper didn't say anything about the fluttering pulse, instead finishing his task.

Irina took a breath that shook more than she expected. "Thank you, Jasper."

It was an extra heartbeat before he raised his head, violet eyes inscrutable. "Of course, Lady Irina. Always happy to help."

The rumors abounded, as she'd known they would. Despite having several interested suitors--"even with her background"--Irina had elected not to pursue a romance.

At least not one sanctioned by the Matchmaker. Not one that would stabilize a trade partnership or any benefit to her nation.

She couldn't. Not when any time she thought of them the image was replaced by silver hair and purple eyes and remembered delicacy on her behalf. The way her heart lurched when they danced for practice. His gentle touch tending her wrists, as he was now.

This wasn't how it was supposed to go. She wasn't supposed to fall for one of her staff. She wasn't supposed to...

Irina swallowed hard, pushing away the thoughts. "Jasper?"

His thumb had slowed almost to a caress over her pulse point. He silently cocked his head up to meet her gaze, hands going still.

"I wanted..." She wanted to look down at her lap; this was not a confession she'd ever made, how did people do this? "I wanted to... let you know how much I appreciate everything you do for me. The dance lessons, your advice, looking into the horse incident, helping with this."

Jasper nodded slowly and appeared to be gathering his thoughts. Trying to maintain his demeanor? "It is no trouble, I- Lady Irina." One of his thumbs swept across the inside of her wrist. Not to spread salve or smooth bandages back in place. Just for the touch. "I'm always happy to help."

A few short weeks ago, Irina wouldn't have mustered the curiosity to follow up a mysterious note, let alone one as vague as this. But the Summit had changed her. Her friendship and acceptance by other delegates awakened something too-long dormant in her.

And so she went. Senses on alert for a trap, instincts prickling at the darkened theatre storeroom. Those same instincts had her lunging aside from them creaking, collapsing set piece. Not thinking, not deliberating, just move.

She stood in the thunderous silence, breath coming fast as she stared at the wreckage.

That would have killed me.

Someone was trying to--

I should be dead.

She thought she heard someone call her name from far away, but she couldn't make her voice work to respond.

She should be dead, but something gut-deep and instinctual hadn't wanted that. Had saved her. Had wanted her to live. What had changed?

"--rina." The voice was at her elbow, Jasper's expression void of its usual calm. "Are you alright?" It was not an inquiry, like after the riding incident.

It was nearly a demand. Fervent and focused as he reached for her arm.

The second his hand made contact, everything hit her and Irina shook like a leaf, collapsing against him. Jasper didn't hesitate, one arm around her shoulders, the other sliding behind her knees to scoop her up.

"I will find who did this," he murmured against her hair as he carried her back to her room. Irina curled her hand in the lapel of his jacket and his grip tightened in response. "They won't get another chance for... this."

He was furious. Quiet, reserved, proper Jasper was furious on her behalf. And Irina believed him--whoever this mysterious would-be assassin was, they had no idea what was coming.

Her senses had partly returned by the time they reached her room. The silence spoke to Ria and Sayra's absence, so that may have emboldened her.

Before Jasper set her down on the bed, Irina raised her head enough to kiss his cheek. "Thank you, Jasper," she said softly when he froze. "I don't know what I would do without you."

"Of course, Irina." His hand stroke soothingly over her hair. "I'm always happy to help."

And from the way he lingered on setting her down, she knew how much he meant it.

Welcome to the Seven Kingdoms Wiki, a wiki dedicated to Seven Kingdoms: The Princess Problem by Azalyne Studios.

here's something i've been working on during my christmas break. 7kpp's one of my most cherished games and fandom's not been a great place for wikis for a while already so i decided to migrate its wiki to wiki.gg instead.

there's a lot that is already complete, especially the late-game challenges and such, but i'm nowhere near done. still, it might already come in handy so feel free to take a look.

i mostly work on whatever i feel like working on but the general plan is to finish the early-game challenges, get the minor/unromanceable characters done and then get to the LIs whose paths i already played through.

22. "Why are we doing this again?"

Fandom - Seven Kingdoms: The Princess Problem/7KPP Content warnings - none Pairing - Clarmont x MC Summary - In the wake a dangerous attempt on someone's life, Clarmont reflects and receives a letter. Other notes - contains spoilers for week 5 [A/N - For day 3 of 7KPP Week 2024: Letters as well]

For the umpteenth time that night, Clarmont runs a hair through his tousled hair.

Why is he doing this again? He came here with a goal, a singular, clear goal. Gathering information, forging alliances, all in the name of peace. For the sake of all the innocents who were caught in these deadly games, for the sake of those they’d already lost. How much time had he spent preparing for this? How many times had he repeated this to himself?

And yet, in the end, he’d somehow forgotten it all so easily. All over a single woman.

A woman who somehow met and then exceeded any expectations he had. An intelligent, driven woman who stood firm in the face of adversity and challenge. A beautiful, insightful woman who somehow made him forget himself, the first person in his life who tempted him over the edge of selfishness. All he had to do was jump.

No, not again. He rubs his face with his hands; combined with his lack of rest, he knows he’ll have dark circles under his eyes come morning. No matter how hard he fights, Clarmont finds himself coming back to her, again and again, like a creature underwater drawn to a light on the surface before diving back below, afraid of what it might find when it breaks through.

He can’t do this to her. He knows this, he’s told it to himself over and over. He can’t do this to himself, to the cause he’s utterly devoted himself to for years, completely unwavering, until now.

She might die, he reminds himself, and his heart would likely never recover. He could die, leaving her behind in the most unfair way possible. And given the enormity of the task, the latter seems far more likely. Better to end it now, before they’re too entangled. Better for her to be angry at him, to hate him, than to break her through grief and loss.

He believes in his cause, but Clarmont has long given up on himself. And she deserves more than a man who has nothing left to give.

It isn’t until he hears a knock on his door that he notices the slivers of light dripping in from the gap between the curtains, signaling the onset of morning. In the end, those long late hours did little for him; his resolve is no stronger than before.

The Revaire lord nods absently to his servants when they come in to help him prepare for the day; the gaunt look in his eyes is evident enough, but they know him well enough to not press. He’s handed a small bundle of letters before they bow and leave. Collapsing into a chair, he absentmindedly peruses through his correspondence. There’s a letter from Lyall; he’ll read that one later since he already has an idea of what it might say, and for once he’s not in the state of mind to entertain his friend’s fanciful notions about his bachelorhood.

And mysteriously, a letter hailing from Jiyel in handwriting he doesn’t recognize. The addressee is what surprises him; he doesn’t have any notable contacts from that particular kingdom, aside from one, and she’s here. He looks it over—it doesn’t appear trapped or dangerous in any way. Preliminary checks done, Clarmont gingerly unfurls the parchment.

[ To the esteemed Lord Clarmont of Revaire,

You do not know me, but I write on behalf of my granddaughter, Lady Octavia of House Leigong. My name is Sarantuya, and I have raised and watched Octavia grow since birth. As such, while I know she is perfectly capable of handling her own affairs most of the time, I feel obligated to speak in her favor when it comes to matters of marriage, and of the heart.

She does not speak of you often in a direct way in her letters home, but I know my granddaughter well enough to read between the lines. For a long time, Octavia has always been content in solitary endeavors; there was little that she wanted aside from the pursuit of her own goals. Her heart is not one that is easily stirred. I’m sure you can imagine how surprised I was that she spoke so highly of someone she met during her time at the summit, someone she had intentions to marry, no less.

Truthfully, I worry about my granddaughter. I worry that she will not surround herself with those that care about her. I worry that she will devote so much of herself to her ambitions that she will lose sight of other important things in life. I know as I grow older, I grow closer to a day when I cannot watch over her as I once have.

Lord Clarmont, during your time with her, I am sure you have already gleaned some things about her nature. Octavia can be arrogant and overly reliant on her intelligence. She can pour every ounce of her energy to a task to the point of obsession. She can be cold and indifferent, and care little for strangers, a byproduct of the circumstances in which she was born. My granddaughter has experienced little of the world outside her homeland through no fault of her own. It is my wish that through this summit, she will learn to look beyond the pages of her books and the walls of our small family estate.

In spite of all these things, you will find no one more capable and more devoted. Whatever your dreams are, they will become her dreams, and she will give everything she has to fulfilling them. Whatever challenge you may face, whatever obstacles you must cross, she will stand by you through it all, on her own two feet, strong and proud.

My lord, I can only hope you believe my word when I say my granddaughter is not a weak woman. She has the capacity to reach heights she herself is not aware of yet; the only thing she needs is a supportive hand. The blood of a people who have braved harsh winters, who have survived war, who wander and ride freely through endless, vast plains, courses through her veins. The same blood that runs through my veins. She is not meant to remain in a small cage of her own choosing. It is my wish that she will find the opportunity to fly, and it is my belief that you may be the one who can help her.

I cannot see the future and I will not compel you to a decision. But from what I know, I hope one day to have the pleasure of calling you my grandson. Please watch over Octavia in the meantime.

Clarmont leans back in his chair, staring up at the ceiling as his sleep-deprived mind struggles to process everything.

My granddaughter is not a weak woman.

He knows that. He knows that so painfully well. Because in the end, he knows that he’s the weak one, and he’s never been more frustrated over it.

Maybe…

He shakes his head, painfully aware of the bright sunshine breaking through to dispel the shadows of the night. Time is not a luxury he has, and eventually he has to face his demons. He folds the letter and sets it aside for safekeeping, praying from the depths of his heart that he can live up to whatever expectations people may have of him.

I was surprised that MC who is not attracted to anyone can’t mention this to Lisle, when he repeatedly asks if she is truly okay with marrying him. Obviously some aroace people desire and have relationships, but some don’t, so this could have been relevant to MC’s decision. Especially the Widow MC.

Just a consequence of too many branches and trying to limit them a bit.

But I’ve added a chance to acknowledge you are ace during his confession scene for 1.11 <3

7KPP Spoilers Policy

With the game coming out soon, I figure it would be good to come up with some sort of consensus with how we will post about spoilers. At least here at the blog, we'll be doing our best to keep spoilers to a minimum, at least for the first few days while everyone plays through the new content.

Of course, we can't control or stop anyone, but for the sake of consistency, these are the rules we'll be implementing when it comes to reblogging posts/art.

No spoilers for the first week.

All spoilers for the next month at minimum will be tagged with "7KPP early access spoilers" and "7KPP spoilers"

If possible, we will attempt to post spoilers under a cut, so there is an extra layer of protection against being accidentally spoiled.

It would be wonderful if others could use the same tags, so they can be blacklisted accordingly.
