i love it whenever a cat walks up to another cat and slaps it right in the face for no reason at all completely unprovoked

It probably is provoked though. Cats have a weird sometimes semi-"nonverbal" (because some make noises beyond human hearing). So the cat that got slapped probably said something sassy as fuck and the sassiest thing the other cat could say back was with their claws.

cats especially communicate a great deal through eye contact alone so one cat might have just given the other cat the “you’re a fuckin bitch” look from across the room
