I respect this persons experience, but there was no reason for my pictures and name to be used in this - an article ending in (inaccurate) praise of riot grrl. I’ve been very outspoken against riot grrl and I think the writer would benefit from speaking to Black women involved in punk, Black women involved in punk during the peak of riot grrl, and Black women who actually do speak on their behalf. Last night on our Hearse Ghost Tour of Savannah we were passing Paula Dean's restaurant Lady and Sons and everyone who came out the door while we were stopped at the corner kept yelling "HEYALL!" Even the little babies were doing it and I didn't understand what they were saying or why they were saying it and then I looked in the window and all the servers were wearing long sleeved shirts that had sleeve prints reading "HEY Y'ALL" and it gave me chills and I never want to go near that place again.
