Everybody Wants Some!! (Richard Linklater, 2016)
Alice Walker’s Definition of a “Womanist” from In Search of Our Mothers’ Gardens: Womanist Prose Copyright 1983.
WOMANIST 1. From womanish. (Opp. of “girlish,” i.e. frivolous, irresponsible, not serious.) A black feminist or feminist of color. From the black folk expression of mothers to female children, “you acting womanish,” i.e., like a woman. Usually referring to outrageous, audacious, courageous or willful behavior. Wanting to know more and in greater depth than is considered “good” for one. Interested in grown up doings. Acting grown up. Being grown up. Interchangeable with another black folk expression: “You trying to be grown." Responsible. In charge. Serious. 2. Also: A woman who loves other women, sexually and/or nonsexually. Appreciates and prefers women’s culture, women’s emotional flexibility (values tears as natural counterbalance of laughter), and women’s strength. Sometimes loves individual men, sexually and/or nonsexually. Committed to survival and wholeness of entire people, male and female. Not a separatist, except periodically, for health. Traditionally a universalist, as in: "Mama, why are we brown, pink, and yellow, and our cousins are white, beige and black?” Ans. “Well, you know the colored race is just like a flower garden, with every color flower represented." Traditionally capable, as in: "Mama, I’m walking to Canada and I’m taking you and a bunch of other slaves with me.” Reply: “It wouldn’t be the first time.” 3. Loves music. Loves dance. Loves the moon. Loves the Spirit. Loves love and food and roundness. Loves struggle. Loves the Folk. Loves herself. Regardless. 4. Womanist is to feminist as purple is to lavender.
Racist white lady calls in and tells Native Hawaiian to stop blaming the white man for taking their land, especially since the Japanese are doing it too.
This succinct READ though? COME THRU!!!
1) How did she do that? It was like magic… 2) I see so many videos like this from TV shows, and it makes me wonder why daytime television doesn’t have real and intelligent guests anymore… This is something we would NEVER find on TV in 2016.
can someone tell me who this is and where this video is from?
^^^^Found her. Her name is Haunani-Kay Trask. I watched this video earlier today and I KNEW she looked familiar to me. The sad thing is that the only reason I remember her was because my first introduction to her was on a website that listed her as a “Terrible Bigot,” simply for wanting rights given back to her native people of Hawai’i. People always saw her as an aggressor and that’s INCREDIBLY disheartening :( Here’s the full video:
ALSO. Did you know she’s a poet? Here’s one she wrote called Racist White Woman. Racist white woman I could kick Your face, puncture Both eyes. You deserve this kind Of violence. No more vicious Tongues, obscene Lies. Just a knife Slitting your tight Little heart. For all my people Under your feet For all those years Lived smug and wealthy Off our land Parasite arrogant A fist In your painted Mouth, thick With money And piety. Thanks Auntie Haunani!
she came thruuuuu
Just learned about her in my Hawaiian class, & honestly she’s amazing. 💜
OKAY 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It’s about having constant butterflies and it’s about staying up late at night and have long conversations and get lack of sleep and regret it every morning and then do it all over again the next night.
Please don’t blame yourself for the dumb shit other people do to you, it was out of your control and it’s really their fault.
I’m tired of ~diversity~ meaning the core white people are safe while the poc get cycled in and out and tortured and sidelined, the lgbt characters can’t have happy relationships and the women can’t interact for more than five minutes. I’m tired of white people and straight people and men patting themselves on the back for regurgitating the same bullshit tropes and calling it art.
I’m here for black boys doing ballet.
Please child carry on, go big
Please consider donating to Sacred Stone’s camp if you can–since it’s winter they are currently experiencing below-freezing temperatures, and they are in dire need of the following items:
Firewood (preferably oak, maple, ash)
Tipi/Tipi poles/Tipi liners for winter
Pick-up truck with a 4 wheel drive
Trailer/campers (for winter shelters)
Snow tires - various sizes; tire chains
Gas cards
Wall tents with wood stoves and poles
Sleeping bags for subzero temperatures (including military style)
You can send these supplies or anything else off of their supply list, cash or check donations to:
Sacred Stone Camp P.O. Box 1011 Fort Yates, ND 58538
If you can’t donate, please consider contacting as many people involved in the building of the pipeline as you can so that it and the abuse of Native people protecting their land can be stopped as soon as possible.
Can’t believe that the devil put all his energy into 2016.
It’s like he had an assignment due jan 1, 2017 And forgot until now
wow
this is fucking thought provoking
brands are for the sake of advertising so people will remember their company and hopefully buy from them, this is a known business tactic. trees do not want to sell anything and probably couldn’t care less if you don’t recognize them theyre fucking plants bye
People are more focused on branding and spending money than learning about the world around them. So fuck you for defending that.
I’m with the first guy. Brands are designed to be recognized. You can’t help that. But unless you’re using plants in your field or are just a big nature nerd there will rarely be a need for you to recognize every plant by their foliage.
Might as well learn every different kind of mineral, gas, compound, organism, etc in the universe ever.
“Mom can you tell me what leaf this is?”
“Honey I honestly have no idea”
“Fuck you mom, you consumerist sheep”.
i can’t believe rihanna invented silk dresses
