Finally saw Bob Dylan last night, I am overjoyed!

Went to Bonnaroo and saw The Strokes and Geese!!

Currently listening through every Bob Dylan Album by release date. I’ll give full reviews as I finish albums.

Bob Dylan. His first released album with all covers except for a few originals (2 I believe but correct me if I'm wrong). This album is cute, I can't think of another way to put it. You can tell it's very early on for him, he almost sounds nervous in the covers he's doing. I think a cover album is not for him, other people's songs don't work with his voice; his voice only works with his songs. All in all, it doesn't scream Bob Dylan to me, it screams Columbia Records wanted a fresh face but also wanted to keep "traditional" folk around.

The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. I think this is honestly one of his best albums. Original songs, his vocals, and the instrumentals all work in such a perfect way for Dylan. However, I feel like I can still feel hold back on Dylan's part from his label, but it's definitely a lot better than self titled from the standpoint on individuality. I think it was best for Bob to do his own music instead of making a career off of covers like a lot of the other artists in the genre. In my opinion, this was the best turn for his career, I would almost consider this as his first album instead of the debut because this one is Bob Dylan.

The Times They Are A- Changin'. This album is one of the best, honestly and truly. While many see it as the protest album that has no true time period (it is always relevant, timeless), I feel like it is also almost a transitional album for Dylan. What I mean by this is that he starts with very political songs that have comments on society (The Times They Are A-Changin', With God on Our Side) and then ends in a more stoic, personal way. While I'm not sure the exact direction Dylan was going in, this album is worth the listen every time. Perfection.

Another Side of Bob Dylan. This album really does show another side of Dylan. While he has made more romantic songs in his early songs, this, to me at least, shows a more loving side of Dylan. While I would not consider it a "yearnful" album or anything, I think you can still see more of his heart coming out.

This album starts so fast and almost fun due to its pace and then it ends in such a melancholy way, it is almost impressive how Dylan was able to do such a switch from song to song while also having a consistent vibe (?) throughout. This is one of those albums that can easily be left on repeat.

Highway 61 Revisited. Here it is, the big change. Dylan going electric completely changed everything with his music. Looking back, I feel like you could sense that it was coming, but at the time of the album, no way! This is such an amazing, defining album. I truly do love this album, I do not care what "true folk" is. Bob Dylan is Bob Dylan.

Blonde on Blonde. One of my favorite albums of all time. There are some amazing songs on here that can truly never be topped, even covers will never do Dylan's version justice. This is the first album I think of when I think of Dylan.

John Wesley Harding. Now I do not know any of the history of the real John Wesley Hardin, the name sake for the album, but I can definitely hear a story through the music. Based off of recent Dylan endeavors (AI history fan fiction ?) I can see that he truly enjoyed writing this album.
