Follow up to my previous predicament on the AU: I think it would be most fun to re-write the story from Simon’s perspective since he’s the main thing to change here. We already know how Grace thinks and feels and we already know his more specific memories (ones that wouldn’t include Simon as the new edition). At the very least it would start with Simon and switch back on interesting canon divergent spots. (This is going to be so much work why would I ever want to do this)

Really debating with myself weather or not it’s worth it to rewrite project Hail Mary basically in its entirety to include Simon being on the mission for this AU idea or not. Because the IDEA is them slowly remembering knowing each other back in college after the mission as they’re turning back for Rocky (or around that time frame) and using that to write flash backs of their youthful fling sprinkled with the present of a new relationship forming. HOWEVER the entire mission would’ve gone so slightly different with Simon there and a part of me doesn’t want to skip out on all those details. They would’ve sent of ilyukhina together in a shared grief. Simon would’ve been their pilot meaning the giant Adrian failure would’ve gone so much differently. Simon probably would’ve been wayy more reserved about jumping into an alien space tunnel or letting his only surviving companion jump into an alien space tunnel.

Literally my only other alternative is rewriting the beginning where they re-meet on the petrova task force and then doing a weird time jump to the end of the mission while hazardously filling in the blanks as we go. (Guys I’m not qualified to write all this I haven’t even finished my first 3 chapter Bloody Mary WIP)

What would Avatar! Grace’s native element be? (Including coltland-gentry) because I see Colt as a firebender who COULD be an earth bender and I see Courtland as an earth bender who COULD be a fire bender. Regardless Grace won’t remember his native element nor be good with it.

I have a silly sixerine idea that will not leave my mind but I like to imagine the first time they did anything more than their “kinda rival-coworkers with benefits” it was star gazing. Because that’s how Courtland felt closest to his brothers while separated. It was stupid and he was whole heartedly expecting Tang to either not join him or to make fun of him but they enjoyed the silence together. And something about the softness pulled that fool of a mercenary in closer.
