spoke wishes to be a hero and he wishes to be free and he wishes he was better and he wishes he had hope instead of trudging forward like a zombie because the only way he can stop feeling like one is *by* going forward into whatever seems like a better option

he pretends he's all these things and when he's revealed to not be he denies and denies because if others realize the truth then eventually he will have to realize it too

underneath it all he thinks of himself as everything bad in the world because he's the opposite of everything and to him being the opposite is every bad, terrible thing

even if the opposite of things isn't just the bad, it's the neutral parts too or maybe even the good but he refuses to see that part, he think he can only achieve that part by pretending

being greedy and selfish aren't bad things, they're Everyone Things, everyone is greedy and selfish to at least some extent because that is also the human nature, if anything you kind of need to be or you end up giving everything and never taking for yourself and suddenly you're roadkill

spoke survives and he doesnt thrive even though he's greedy and selfish which in theory are for his own satisfaction but he clearly doesn't get a lot of satisfaction or joy out of it

perhaps the only thing he can't pretend about is loving someone who might make him feel a bit more human because they make him feel and care and do things a selfish greedy goal driven person like him wouldnt do

it is of my personal opinion that spoke is not the only one with a sense of codependency when it comes to mapicc, I think the reason mapicc always goes back to spoke/caves in to him asking for help in purgatory is cuz he needs to be near spoke just as much as spoke needs to be near him. they're codependent on each other even after all that's happened, it's not crazy to me that spoke wasn't mad at mapicc for breaking his chest plate after, because he's probably done worse of course. But for mapicc to forgive spoke time after time almost proves my point that he needs spoke too. they've known each other for so long and been through so much, that each other is all they know.

i just wanna say... spoke said "for NOW it's goodbye" so i truly do not believe that he felt like he was "sacrificing" Mapicc, or leaving him to die. He knew somewhere deep in his heart that Mapicc would survive. I don't think jamato would've been stupid enough to let Mapicc die so easily either. Jamato knows of the underworld, and he would realize that Mapicc can easily clutch with like, idk, a smuggled enderpearl. (Plus he sucks with item checks because he's so blinded by rage). I think he realizes that if Mapicc truly dies, then the server dies with him, mainly because of what's happened before when Mapicc is supposedly "dead". Spoke would realize this too, and therefore, the windcharge couldn't be Mapicc's demise.

i've seen people say that we know nothing about mapicc because spoke views him as a tool.

I don't agree, and i think mapicc is still shown to be his own person.. plus he went against/away from spoke a few times already. It's just that he still holds care for spoke, plus sometimes their goals DO align.

What we know is that mapicc likes pvp and fighting, and he is sometimes shown to be just as chaotic as spoke is. Maybe not as drastic and desperate but he still is mischievous in his own way. As shown in the exploit arc (meeting spoke) and i'll say base raiders arc (went away from spoke and came back to have fun).

I will also say that in purgatory, without spoke, mapicc was perfectly content fighting in the prison without a cause, simply for fun(?). You could say that makes him mindless without spoke, but i'd say that's because there just isn't anything else to do in purgatory.

Mapicc is still his own person, and being near spoke hasn't muffled that, but i would say it brings out another part of him (a violent part) that wouldn't be out otherwise. He did seem to take a bit of joy in basically terrorizing people to join them.

personally i believe egg is a lot taller than wemmbu but wemmbu's still like physically stronger due to mace.. it's still funny to see when they're walking and holding hands though
