I did a redraw and redesign of my Bug/Dragon type Pokémon. :)
These Pokémon are based on Praying Mantis and Oriental Dragons. The shiny forms take on the colours of Blossom Mantis.
More information below.
Warning: Dark Pokédex entries, mentions of death.
Larvis; the Big Eyed Pokémon
Bug type
Abilities: Swarm, Tinted Lens
Hidden Ability: Quick Feet
Name Origin: Larva (early form of a bug), Mantis (predatory insect)
Pokédex Entries:
They are rather shy Pokémon, rarely coming into contact with humans or other Pokémon. This makes them really hard to find in the wild.
Their diet contists of berries and other vegetation, always finishing their food. These Pokémon are often found in trees with small bites taken out of the leaves.
Mantither; the Hunter Pokémon
Bug/Dragon type
Abilities: Hyper Cutter, Technician
Hidden Ability: Speed Boost
Name Origin: Mantis (predatory insect), Slither (to move smoothly over a surface)
Pokédex Entries:
Their front arms are incredibly sharp; enough to cut a tree down in two hits. This Pokémon uses its front arms to climb and attack anything that gets in its way.
They have a short temper, often lashing out at the smallest things. It prefers if others keep their distance, as this Pokémon will not hesitate to attack those that get too close.
Swarmental; the Hunter Pokémon
Bug/Dragon type
Abilities: Hyper Cutter, Technician
Hidden Ability: Speed Boost
Name Origin: Swarm (a large ground of insects), Oriental Dragon (Asian folklore dragon), Mental (mad or insane)
Pokédex Entries:
This Pokémon is incredibly dangerous, as it will hunt anything that comes into its view. It has scent memory, so once it catches a scent, they will be able to track it down with ease.
With a large appetite, this Pokémon will eat anything and will leave no remains. If anything disrupts its feeding, Swarmental will lash out, and may hunt down its disrupter to make its next meal.
History of the Hunter Pokémon
Larvis are usually shy bugs that feed on berries and other plant life. They often hide away from people and other Pokémon, as they prefer to be by themselves or with others of their kind.
However, once they evolve, they gain the Dragon-typing, and a thirst for battle. Mantithers are often filled with a rage, irritated by the smallest things at which they will lash out. They also start to gain a hunger, now starting to hunt other Pokémon for food. They still eat majority berries and plants, but will hunt if a victim is helpless enough.
Once evolved into Swarmental, the Pokémon becomes much more dangerous, now with a thirst for blood. These Pokémon may prefer to be away from humans, but they have been known to hunt those that get too close. Whatever this dragon hunts and catches, there will be no remains.
However, in the odd natural of the Swarmental line, it is nearly impossible to catch a Mantither or Swarmental, due to their hunting nature. However, if you catch a Larvis, the Pokémon will remain loyal to the trainer, no matter what. It has even been reported that those that try to trade or free a Mantither/Swarmental that belonged to someone else, the Pokémon will lash out, and may even result in death. This makes trading a Mantither and Swarmental impossible to do.
In the past, it has been reported that criminals have been known to catch Larvis, train them to either Mantither or Swarmental, and then starve them. They did this as a way to ensure they had an easy way to dispose of unwanted people, Pokémon, or bodies.
This becomes a problem due to the Pokémon’s trainer loyalty nature. If freed, the Pokémon will lash out at those that oppose its trainer, despite being starved. These types of criminal cases have resulted in many of the dragons being put down, reducing their numbers.
However, there have been many protocols put in place to keep track of the Larvis population so that the numbers can grow again.
I wanted to show some of the Fakémon that I’ve created for my fan made region.
Auski is a large island with many grasslands and forests. The coldest weather will only brig rain, unless you’re up in the mountain peaks, which is where you’ll find snow. The region is hostly hot, but has plenty of beaches to make up for it.
Auski is based off of Australia.
Some of the Pokémon are below if you would like to continue. :)
Regional Varients:
Espurr, the Outburst Pokémon (Dark/Psychic)
(Abilities: Keen Eye, Infiltrator)
(Hidden Ability: Contrary)
(Dream - Espurr) These Pokémon like to unleash small bursts of energy, whether to use as a defence, or to prank other people and Pokémon.
(Vision - Espurr) The white fur on these Pokémon emit a powerful energy. The brighter the fur, the more powerful the energy.
Meowstic, the Outburst Pokémon (Dark/Psychic)
(Abilities: Keen Eye, Infiltrator)
(Hidden Ability: Contrary)
(Dream - Meowstic) Unlike Meowstic in other regions, these Pokémon have their ears loose, allowing powerful energy to emit from the organs inside.
(Vision - Meowstic) Despite their friendly habits, these Pokémon are known pranksters. Their white fur glows when they’re about to attack.
Houndour, the Dark Pokémon (Dark)
(Ability: Early Bird)
(Dream - Houndour) The restraints on this Pokémon’s body calmed down the fiery energy within its body. This reduced this Pokémon down to a pure Dark Type.
(Vision - Houndour) The crystal in its collar was placed there to stop this Pokémon from starting fires. It emits a powerful energy.
Houndoom, the Suspended Pokémon (Dark/Psychic)
(Ability: Levitate)
(Dream - Houndoom) The plates under its paws suspend it in the air. This Pokémon is able to travel at high speeds with the help of its psychic energy.
(Vision - Houndoom) The original crystal fused with the body of this Pokémon, giving it access to psychic energy. This Pokémon will not hesitate to unleash its energy to attack.
Resident Pokémon:
Rezafrill, the Frilled Pokémon (Ground/Steel)
(Abilities: Intimidate, Rivalry)
(Hidden Ability: Sand Force)
Agamadeck, the Frilled Pokémon (Ground/Steel)
(Abilities: Intimidate, Rivalry)
(Hidden Ability: Sand Force)
Based off of the Frilled Neck Lizard.
These Pokémon are known for their protective nature, with their frills acting as shields, and even weapons, to use in order to end off foes.
Joyeap, the Bouncing Pokémon (Normal/Electric)
(Ability: Thumper)
Rowdaroose, the Rodeo Pokémon (Fighting/Electric)
(Ability: Thumper)
These Pokémon in the wild are rough and rowdy, but once tamed, they are great companions. In late history, they were nearly hunted to extinction, but breeding and care in ranches have helped bring back their numbers. They’re often seen in rodeos, or for cross-region travel.
(Thumper Ability - allows the Pokémon to avoid two-turn moves. E.g. Dig, Fly, Phantom Force, etc)
Caprid, the Goat Pokémon (Normal/Steel)
(Ability: Battle Armour)
Bavilorn, the Battle Pokémon (Normal/Steel)
(Ability: Battle Armour)
These Pokémon were first introduced to Auski by those from far away land, using these Pokémon to defend themselves with. Now, they roam the grasslands, sometimes found in the oldest towns in Auski. The armour that they wear is what gives them their Steel-Typing, as the armour can no longer be removed.
Budlee, the Round Bird Pokémon (Grass/Flying)
(Abilities: Big Pecks, Chlorophyll)
(Hidden Ability: Leaf Guard)
Budgifrond, the Budgie Pokémon (Grass/Flying)
(Abilities: Big Pecks, Chlorophyll)
(Hidden Ability: Leaf Guard)
Floratiel, the Cockatiel Pokémon (Grass/Flying)
(Abilities: Big Pecks, Chlorophyll)
(Hidden Ability: Leaf Guard)
These Pokémon are dominantly found in the tropical forests of Auski, tending to the plants and life with their care. They are very friendly Pokémon, and act as a guide to those who get lost in the forests.
Larvis, the Big-Eyed Pokémon (Bug)
(Abilities: Swarm, Tinted Lens)
(Hidden Ability: Quick Feet)
Mantither, the Hunter Pokémon (Bug/Dragon)
(Abilities: Hyper Cutter, Technician)
(Hidden Ability: Speed Boost)
Swarmental, the Mantis Pokémon (Bug/Dragon)
(Abilities: Hyper Cutter, Technician)
(Hidden Ability: Speed Boost)
These Pokémon are very avoidant of humans, being rather shy and cautious. Their first evolution is often ignored, due to being a regular Bug-Type, but most from outside of Auski don’t realise that this Pokémon evoles to be Auski’s signature dragon. They are know for their hunting skills, their reflexes said to be as fast as lightning. They are omnivores, praying on fruit, other bugs, and very rarely meat.
They are a family that live in the Auski region. They are half Auskian and half Galarian.
Might need to tap for better quality.
Mistine:
Mistine, preferably Misty, is the youngest of the three, but she has a strong attitude. She is the final Gym Leader, leading one of the two switch-type Gyms; the Dark and Psychic Gym. She originally had green eyes, like her siblings, but due to being surrounded by dark and psychic energy, her eyes have gradiented to purple.
At the age of 17, she travelled to Kalos, due to her starting to act negatively towards her siblings. There she ended up showing off her potential, and accidentally ended up in Team Flare. She was decribed as an “experiment”, to see what she’d do. She of course, was an idiot and thought she was just being appreciated for her strength. When she finally realised, she fled, but she didn’t get out unharmed. She’s covered in scars and bite marks from Pokémon that were unleashed on her.
When she got back, she realised her mistakes in Kalos, and also with her family, so she strived to fix it. When she heard that a Gym Challenge was starting up in Auski, she decided to take on the role of a Gym Leader. She bested all other applying leaders, making her the final Gym Leader to face.
Colin:
Colin is the middle child, and is the shy one. He’s trained in teaching Mega Evolution, as the Auski region are currently striving to keep Mega Evolution alive.
He may not be as successful as his sisters, but he’s the most well known Pendragon in the region. He often acts as a guide for those that don’t know the region, knowing about all the facilities and history in each town. He works best as a waiter in cafes, but is a terrible cook himself. The man also lives out in a cottage in the forest, friendly to Pokémon to come and go as they please. Along with being a Mega Evolution tutor, he also currently has the job of travelling around the forest to find and take down Pokémon traps.
Colin is best known as “The Dog Trainer” as most people see him with 3 dog Pokémon, but anyone that has watched him battle knows that’s not all the Pokémon he has.
Karma:
Karma is the oldest, and is the region’s leading astronomer. She’s worked hard for her role in studying attonomy, especially with her fascination in stars and constellations. Despite this, she has a strong love for Pokémon and wants to find ways to protect wild Pokémon from hunters. With this thought in mind, Karma is currently the leader of The Twilights, a group of people that wear purple jackets with stars on them and go around protecting Pokémon from harmful people.
When younger, the Pendragons travelled to Galar for a while, allowing Karma to participate in the Gym Challenge at the age of 12 and with the number 181. She ended up getting all the way to the semi finals, but was ultimately knocked out by one of the other challengers. So now, from a young age, Karma has been a strong trainer, but can never defeat her sister in a battle.
Very rarely does she get the chance to battle anymore, but she’s always willing to when she gets free time. She has a very busy schedule, but when she does get free time, she usually uses it to visit her siblings.
And there are my babies!
Pokémon teams are below if you would like to see what they are. :)

Hatterene [] Female [] Ability: Healer [] Unlike other Hatterene, she likes being around emotion, and she tends to make as mych noise as she can.
Hydregion [] Male [] Ability: Levitate [] Chaotic, but very cuddly. Hates water and whistling.

Furfrou [] Male [] Ability: Fur Coat [] Shiny with the Star Trim. Colin’s partner Pokémon.
Lucario [] Male [] Ability: Steadfast [] Was saved from hunters by Colin. Is rather nervous for a Lucario. Mega Evolves.
Granbull [] Female [] Ability: Quick Feet [] A very motherly doggo that can cook.
This is my little Auskian Espurr, the regional variant for my fan-made region; Auski, based on Australia.
Auskian Espurr
The Outburst Pokémon
Dark / Psychic
Abilities: Keen Eye, Infiltrator
Hidden: Contrary
Unlike their Kalossian counterparts, these Pokémon have unleashed the psychic power hidden within the organs in their ears. This resulted in the power becoming too much to handle, but through isolation in dark areas such as caves and forests, they have learned to control that power, but sometimes not for good. These Pokémon are often tricksters, playing pranks and stealing items by acting cute. Don’t fall for their charm, they can be quite dangerous. If they’re about to attack, the white fur around their neck will glow.
Dat’s my little Espurr~
They are my favourite Pokémon along with their evolution, so of course I’d draw one.
So, I know this is random and I haven’t actually done much explaining on my own world of Pokémon, but I randomly drew this last night and wanted to share it.
This basically started as a small idea, until I drew it and became a practice on shading, but looked cool and made me think deeper into the story.
Also, I will have a post just for explaining what my characters or Champions are, so yeah. But right now, AU time.
Just a basic brief on Alwin:
Name: Alwin Walsh
Gender: Male
Age: 16 (became Champ at 15)
Height: 5″5
Sexuality: Gay (is dating Hop)
Team:
- Ren (Inteleon) - Male
- Veda (Xatu) - Female
- North (Frosslass) - Female
- Ryu (Flygon) - Male
- Excalibur (Aegislash) - Male
- Echo (Noivern) - Female
So basically, this takes place just over a year after Alwin became Champion, and meeting the other Champions of each region (it’s an event I have but is explained in a Wattpad Chatfic story that I am currently writing. Fight me.). The events are basically the same as the regular “timeline” but this AU is a possible branch off of the same event.
Main Timeline
Alwin has been suffering from depression for a while, present before the Gym Challenge, but only progressively got worse. Sure, Hop also has depression, but his is only mild, so Alwin didn’t feel like anyone understood, not even his own Pokémon.
A day when he’s alone, he feels compelled to be alone, to let his own thoughts roam, in an attempt to try and rid them for the better. In this state of though, he thought that it would be better to head to the Tundra without his Pokémon. Yes, he was smart enough to check the weather to make sure he didn’t freeze, but went on his way, without his phone, bag and Pokémon. What he didn’t anticipate however, was that Hop was supposed to be visiting 15 minutes later.
Arriving in Freezington, he made his way out to the Snowslide Slope. Pokémon avoided him throughout the Frostpoint Field and Giant’s Bed, any aggressive ones stopped by others, noticing the troubled boy. Upon reaching the Snowslide Slope, he headed up, passing Pokémon and keeping to himself.
But he still stops, stops to watch a battle between a Beartic and a Druddigon. He stood far enough away from the original starting ground of the battle. He watched mesmerised, stuck in place. He wasn’t aware of the Beartic being pushed back towards him, until it was too late to realise. When the Beartic was too close, it dodged a clawed attack from the Druddigon, which hit Alwin instead.
The wounds were deep and across his chest, but landing in the snow had his body temperature drop quicker than what it should have. The battle between the Beartic and Druddigon stopped, realising what they had done. Pokemon from around the area stopped, seeing what had been done.
Of course, since Alwin wasn’t where he was supposed to be, Hop goes out to the Tundra, having found Alwin’s phone still on the weather check. He does let the League know, so they set off to the Tundra as well to help.
This is where it splits off.
In the regular timeline, Alwin is found by Hop and Peony, close to death and freezing. Of course, when the others find them, they bring Alwin back to Galar, back to a hospital. Alwin is nursed back to health, but still remains on the road to recovery in the mental area. There isn’t much story after that, but I’m getting there.
Anyway! Onto the AU-
In this AU, they don’t find Alwin in time. Instead, Alwin dies in the Tundra, bleeding, cold, and surrounded by Pokémon. But, he doesn’t move on. His pain, his agony, is what forced him to come back as the creature that he is; some form of ghost. Neither human, a Pokemon, or alive, he becomes an embodiment of agony and regret, rising from his body, now buried in red snow and wandering the mountain.
But not for long.
Hop and Peony are quickly accompanied by Leon and the League to search, and so they start the search. Along the Snowslide Slope, they search, and with Alwin’s Pokémon in Hop’s care, Hop decides to send Echo (the Noivern) ahead to seek out anything odd. This however backfires, Echo rushing back and trying to get the search party away from the slope. As she tries to drag Hop away, she flees after seeing something else behind Hop. But when Hop turns and stumbles back to get away.
Alwin, too dead to be true.
They aren’t sure what to do, but they’re all terrified. It wasn’t what they wanted, and it wasn’t what they wanted to find. Of course, they flee, unable to find anything to do. They expected him to stay there, up on the Snowslide Slope, within the Tundra.
But they were wrong.
Alwin would appear to them, bringing a chill to the air. He’d speak, but he’d sound lost, asking why they were afraid. Hop was the only one that gave him a clear answer; the one that would treat Alwin as if he was still alive.
Alwin wasn’t a threat, and Hop could see that, and so he pushed the others to remind them that Alwin was their friend. And so speculation began.
They wandered if they could bring Alwin back; if they could free his soul. But could they?
Hop believed there could be a way to bring Alwin back, but he did this in secret, with Alwin as the only other that would know.
They travel to Kalos, seeking out their friend, Madelyn, Kalos’s detective and fellow Champion. Hop’s first thought was the legendary Xerneas, a member of the Aura Trio. He knew Madelyn had connections with them, so she was their first go-to. Despite this thought, the Pokémon of Life could not do anything. Madelyn then continued researching for the two, having her fair share of ghost encounters herself. She searched through books and asked any Ghost Gym Leaders on what they knew about people turning into ghost ( Allister was excluded from this of course), but nothing can out of it. She did everything in her power to find a way to either free Alwin or bring him back, but to also keep this secret.
Hop heads back, the spirit of his friend following. Alwin’s death is revealed to Galar, and the rest of the world, a month after the event. During this time, Hop, Leon and Raihan go back to the Snowslide Slope to find his body, only to find its resting place; where frozen flowers lay over red snow.
And that’s basically the AU.
Extras nows.
These here are the drawings. I am proud of the first. But the blood splaters on the second looks a bit off, but it still works.
So, Alwin died in the Tundra, where his body was buried in the snow by the Pokémon that witnessed his death. This happened shortly after his death, which was why his body wasn’t found by the search party. The Pokémon payed their respects, placing flowers over the grave, which froze over, preserving them.
Alwin’s presence is known through a cold chill that breezes through. This is what scared the League members, as they’d have their backs turned, before feeling the chill. They’d then go check if a window or door was open, only to turn around to see Alwin. These chills can be as weak as small breezes, but can become as strong as blizzards that only last for less than a minute.
Hop released any Pokémon that Alwin caught, only keeping his main 6, Eternatus and Zamazenta. However, North (the Frosslass) went off, going to the mountain where Alwin rested. She did this to watch over the ghost he continued on as.
In this state, Alwin is able to communicate with Pokémon, understanding them perfectly.
In order for Alwin to travel, he would need to attack himself to an object that was “Galarian”. This is why he was able to leave the Tundra, as he attached himself to an object, which allowed him to go to League members without notice. This is also how he traveled to Kalos with Hop, as he attached himself to a Galarica Cuff that Hop had around his wrist. He is also able to travel to see the other Champions this way, as they all received a Galarica Cuff as a send-off gift.
He rarely ever appears to others. He will only appear to those that he once knew, such as Hop, the League and international friends. Sometimes a child may catch a glimpse of him, which terrifies them, and sometimes an adult will too, but it’s always thought to be a trick of the wind.
It you were to capture him on camera or in a video, he’d only appear as a wisp of frozen cloud or mist.
I believe that is all. Feel free to critique or ask anything about this. This was a little AU I came up with in less than 2 days, but I so dearly love it.
