this pic is kind of crazy
every other team in this godforsaken sport: we have failed our driver in every way that matters
mercedes: george is mentally unwell
Kinda want to make the hurt worse and write a Hurt No Comfort Galex fic based on this song
The thing is, it’s not even the fact that George is 50 points behind Kimi right now with 12 races to go. The gap isn’t impossible to close. Seb did something similar in 2012, when he was 44 points off Alonso with 10 races to go. Lando and Max had a nice comeback last season too.
The difference is, all of them had teams that 100% cared about them and worked for their success while George is always an afterthought for this team. Kimi’s rare problems are fixed instantly, while George’s “mysterious” lack of straightline speed doesn’t get solved race after race and they dare to pretend it doesn’t exist and blame George for weeks until they can’t anymore.
There’s something rotten with this team.
GEORGE 😭😭😭

Drivers don’t just suddenly forget how to drive.
George was one of the most consistent drivers last season. He completed 99.9% of the laps. The fact the team had him so convinced he and his driving was the problem is utterly horrific.
George’s interviews this race rlly put it into perspective. The one crushing him and his confidence is Mercedes. They had one of their drivers on the verge of tears in the media pin and still could only half take responsibility.
The worst thing ever is that I can’t even feel fully happy that my other driver (Kimi) is doing well bc it doesn’t feel like he’s winning on merit.
I wanted a close teammate battle and I’m not even going to get that bc of Mercedes lack of care and urgency for one of their drivers.
The disparity of care between the two garages, whether it’s purposeful or not, is glaringly obvious. It is unacceptable that a team at the front of the grid couldn’t fix a glaring issue with one car over the course of multiple race weekends. We SHOULD be having easy 1-2s each weekend and if they don’t get their shit together they’re going to fumble the wcc and let the media blame it on GR.
Mix this with Toto and Mercedes reluctance to openly defend their struggling driver. Letting the media spin whatever narrative they want before even attempting to clarify anything. Fans shouldn’t be the ones combing telemetry data to defend their driver tooth and nail. It’s not fair to GR and it’s not fair to his fans.
Sky saying George was on the verge of tears in the media pen and he still defended lewis.... I hate this sport, I hate what it bleeds out of them
Two thing I must say
1. The constant Toto Wolff implicit portrayal of George Russell as if he is mentally challenged or depressed through endless "he is not confident" statements are concerning. It's like him trying to rewrite George's character as a whole to excuse whatever "misfortune" is happening. Putting out such narrative about his own driver is not his first. In the past, he tried to portray George as an introvert or make it seem like George didn't believe on himself despite George saying the complete opposite.
2. The lack of regards Mercedes has towards George Russell's safety is VERY alarming. Continuously letting him drive with such faulty internal components in his car and making no improvement when heavy risk and consequence relating to George's safety and wellbeing is highly present all the time. This is not the first time in years that they decided to ignore and not be transparent of the technical problem happening. Will they not learn unless a bad thing happen?
This is honestly concerning and there is no way this team provides a healthy workplace environment. It is not about the championship anymore. It is just pure ignorance and disregard because currently they are on their high horses. Whether or not you believed some kind of race fixing/sabotage is happening, this is a careless dangerous manipulative behaviour exhibited by a team who is led by an incapable unprofessional leader.
If this continues, this can be very dangerous. And up until now? They don't seem to be alarmed by the failures that has happened to George regardless of the big risk right in front of their eyes. Which makes it more concerning. Disgusting behaviour.
Just so we’re clear, George’s battery and straight line issue that they’ve been allegedly trying to fix for three races now quite literally put him and others in a dangerous situation today.
Not only do they have a disregard for his ability to fight for the championship fairly they also have a disregard for his safety now. The lack of care is literally getting dangerous.
ngl i’m pretty bothered by the “george doesn’t have a fanbase” discourse im sorry not every driver’s fans are loud men with bad taste
George Russell did not have a DNF in 2025. He completed 99.9% of the lap.
It was NEVER about skill issues.
George Russell comfortably won Australia and led everything in P1 up until China qualifying.
It was NEVER about driving styles.
Falling into the idiotic recency bias or narratives fed by Toto is simply uneducated low comprehension behaviour. Go watch the fucking race. Had he not been comfortable with the car, he would've not won anything from the start. But somehow, since China, every race week is an unexplainable issue again and again stems from the teams' incompetency that even the word "natural bad luck" does not make any fucking sense anymore.
I’m atp where I watched him lose 3 positions on a straight and then dnf and just snorted, gave a nod, and turned off the race.
Not upset, not surprised, not even sad. Just an overwhelming feeling of “yeah it is what it is”.
