Andrew Shovlin on Doriane Pin's first F1 test:

In preparation for the test, the affectionally named ‘Pocket Rocket’ spent extensive time in the team’s simulator, integrating closely with engineers and refining her understanding of the necessary procedures to drive the W12.

Andrew Shovlin, Trackside Engineering Director, commented: “It's been great to have Doriane complete a day of testing with the W12 today. It marks another major step on what is proving to be a very exciting and promising career and also makes her the first ever female driver of a Mercedes F1 car.

“Her preparation and professionalism has impressed the whole team and she should be really proud of what she has achieved. Whatever series you come from, it is always a massive step when getting into an F1 car but she looked at home from the very first laps and was able to enjoy driving the car on the limit.”

the real gr63 propaganda is that hes good at pr.

that man called max a bully and said he lashes out with unnecessary anger and borderline violence. which went down horribly with him getting meme’d to hell and back (i have nothing against that btw its actually very funny). objectively a bad pr move.

and like you cant tell me george has favourable public image.

my theory is that he just has a british accent and everyone subconsciously equates sounding posh to good at pr which doesnt make any sense but since when did things pertaining to f1 make sense.

also if theres anyone whos really good at pr in f1, its charles leclerc.

What I've come to realize with this article is that people are going to perceive George in a way that raises the question of whether they see him as a real person or an idea

Because what do you mean, even after he deliberately and directly addresses the question at hand, people still find a way to twist his words, or worse, construct this version of him that doesn't even exist

What's even more unsettling is how the perception people have built of him goes far beyond anything he's actually shown in the media or what's been shown of him at all. It's like no matter how measured or straightforward he is in his words, there's already a narrative waiting to swallow it whole, one that was written about him before he even opened his mouth

At that point, you have to wonder: are people reacting to George Russell, the person, or to a character they've collectively decided he is?
