silentsymphonia has ...
Did she read his mind?
That yes was like dropping a ton on his shoulders, snapping him momentarily out of his composure. His body jolted in surprise at the simple question, making him bite the inside of his cheek in thought.
'Yes?' why did she have to ask? Why didn’t they just stand there in silence until he could take the time to come up with what he’d ask? He sure as hell would have loved to have a bit more time.
But just how much time would that have been?
He avoided looking towards her, eyes focusing instead on the eerie crimson snow dancing in the air around them. Hands shoved in his pocket, Zelos had to clench his fists to steel his will into bringing the question up at all.
It started as a mumble, barely audible.
The redhead stopped talking, let out a long aggravated sigh, and lifted his head up towards the black sky, closing his eyes. His voice came out flat, yet the hidden anger and pain behind it seemed to want to leak through “Why…why didn’t you want me?” the question emerged at last. Zelos could finally feel himself able to speak as he straightened his head again, instead turning to look towards his mother.
"Why shouldn’t I have been born?" his eyes wore a calm mask, while underneath, within his thoughts he squirmed with fear, no, panic. He felt panic making his blood run cold in his veins, making him become rooted to the spot he stood, in the very pose he was currently in. He wanted her to say something, anything! Words he could come to understand his own mother by, words that would give him some sort of relief.
Anything.
Although he pleased with his heart, the outside did not reflect the turmoil he currently felt. The former Chosen stood composed, and silent, seemingly ignoring the red snow falling around him and instead focusing on Mylene. Maybe she’d say something and it would free him from the torment of just why she would say that.
Why she traumatized her own child into becoming what he was.
Why they cursed him with the role of the Chosen.
That one question seemed to branch out into more and more of them, but that would have to be kept to himself. All he wanted to know was that one reason, he would just leave the rest to fade away on its own. He turned his body halfway, towards his mother, stance shifting to a stronger posture than earlier.
She was here for a reason, right? The town seemed to drag others in for one reason or another, drag them into his delusion. Showing them what his mind seemed to think of the world around him, the monsters in it, the monster he believed himself as. A hand reaching out to him while he lay dying in a crimson puddle, in an abyss of madness, a guiding voice. They all had their purpose, in one way or another, good or bad.
"Why?" he repeated, his nails dug into the palms of his hands as he stood awaiting an answer.
Why.
That question could spring up numerous answers. Some that may be related, some that may be not. A vague thing to ask really, if one wishes for a specific answer.
Or to hear of a specific thing.
She looked up at the sky, the red snow still falling above them, some landing on her face before they melted into red droplets that streaked her cheeks. Maybe it was much better if she had not opened her mouth in the first place. Then she wouldn't have to do this.
But here she is now, and it looked like she had no choice but to answer Zelos.
"Why shouldn't you have been born?" she repeated, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "You made my life miserable." she then answered, a huge smirk on her face. "It was because of you that my own life became a wreck. That your father had driven himself to commit suicide! Your existence was nothing but a bad omen to everyone...!" As she said each line, her voice rose, until she was practically screaming at the redhead.
After that little outburst though, she exhaled deeply, as if recomposing herself.
"... Is what I would've said before. Having been dead for so many years makes you think more clearly, to be honest."
"Unless you don't want to hear that side of the story, and instead stick with this horrific side you've believed in all your life?"

Sheena blinked, surprised that she was being spoken to, not everyone in Meltokio happened to see her in a friendly light. Sheena glanced over, managing to hide her surprise "Oh, hello-" wait a second, this woman looked like the woman that was in the portrait over at Zelos’ home.
Sheena stood up, her surprise horridly evident “EH!? W-wait a sec, are you…!?” her sentence trailed off, unsure of how to finish that sentence. She mentally punched herself for thinking 'are you Zelos' dead mother!?' oh sure, that’d be nice to ask someone. What if it wasn’t and Sheena came off as rude? The ninja cleared her throat, tucked her bow as she sat down, and mumbled “Sorry about that.” as she avoided looking up out of embarrassment.
"...? Am I who?" Needless to say, Mylene was confused by this woman's outburst. What was she referring to anyways? When the other had apologized however, she decided to tuck that aside. "It's alright, I suppose." the blond said. "An honest mistake, yes?"

"…So you’re telling me that…" There was a brief pause in the young wannabe hero’s speech as he tried to grasp the situation. "That there’s a ruin in the middle of the ocean that can bring people to and from other worlds? What exactly is it doing in the middle of the ocean?" Kyle was worried that he was going to have to swim in order to get to it, seeing as he assumed right now that by ‘in the center of the sea’ the older woman meant ‘somewhere at the bottom of the ocean’. He wasn’t a very good swimmer anyways, so the thought of having to dive down to the bottom of the ocean was a little intimidating to think about.
"Well... technically, yes." she replied, not knowing Kyle's thought pattern. "Although they say that one can only access other worlds when it is a full moon, when the light coming from there hits the ruins, creating some sort of portal, if you may."

"…But it’s possible it COULD be true, as well…" He said, his voice a little quieter than before. The vocal tone then returned to its original level as he changed focus. "If that’s the case, do you perhaps know anything about returning to another planet, Ma’am?"
The woman looked down, biting her lip as she thought about it. Surely she couldn't just leave this child alone here in Tethe'alla, even if he was well-equipped. And it seemed like he very much wanted to go home. "I once heard of a rumor, about people traversing worlds." Mylene finally said. "There's a ruin in the center of the sea, called the Otherworldly Gate. Initially, people said that others could travel to the mystical parallel world called Sylvarant. But lately, there have been news about people coming from other worlds aside from what I mentioned."

"..." This was... This was Zelos, right? She had never imagined that she's see HIM again. He looked so much like his father... and her. That hurt more than it should have.
Mylene said nothing as she simply watched the redhead approach, a perfectly stoic face on, something she had perfected a long time ago.
silentsymphonia has ...
Zelos listened, turning his head while keeping his eyes on his mother until his head faced forward again “Hm…” was all he replied, before growing quiet again.
It felt so odd, his mother standing there, she was supposed to be dead. Was this a lie, some sort of terrible joke by his delusional town? Zelos ran a hand through his hair, rubbing the back of his neck once his hand got to it.
"Ah, normally I can talk so well with women~" although he tried to use the cheery tone he often used, it came off as troubled, this was with its reason. The redhead had one specific question in mind, but how could he word it properly? Could he even will himself to ask?
Zelos grumbled to himself in annoyance as he shoved his hands in his pockets, so much for a second chance.
...Huh? That was strange. Was everything alright with him? Of course with the way everything seemed so topsy turvy for her and everyone else, that was an idiotic question. But it was more on the topic of Zelos of course. A moment ago, he was questioning how she was here. The next moment, where they were now, he was acting as if he never knew it.
What could have caused that?
She looked up at the red snow falling on them, before turning to look back at the redhead in front of hair.
"Yes?" she asked, a gut feeling in her stomach telling her that he wanted to ask her something.

Another world… Was it really true that he had ended up on another world? If so, how did it even happen? He couldn’t even think of anything that had occurred recently that could have caused him to end up on a completely different world. “…A different world or planet…” He said quietly. “I wonder if it’s really true…” If that was the case, that certainly made the prospect of getting home even more challenging.
"It's just a hypothesis after all. I'm not saying that it could be true..." Mylene stated. But then again, with all the facts being pointed out to them... It seemed like the only possible reason.

"I’m afraid not," he said with a bright smile. "I’ve never even heard of the place. I’m Colonel Jade Curtiss of the Malkuth military." He gave her a bow. "And you, my lady?"
"A pleasure to meet you, Colonel Curtiss." she replied, doing a curtsy, though at the back of her mind she was clueless of what the Malkuth military was. Perhaps a new base? "My name is Mylene."

It had been a while that Mylene actually had human companionship, even if it was simply being sat next to on her usual spot on the bench in Meltokio. So when she saw someone sit down next to her that day, she had no qualms about it.
"... Hello there."

Oh yes. This noblewoman was very bored. Or just didn’t really feel like chatting. Not that Airey really blamed her, but it was still a little… hurtful that the lady seemed that bored. But anyway. Airey smiled. “Well, honestly? I’m here to see the church. I’ve always wanted to see the church. A… pilgrimage of sorts.”
A pilgrimage... "I see." she said, nodding her head. "If you would like to see the Church, it's not too far from here. Right now, you're at the very bottom of the stairs that lead to the upper quarters." Mylene explained. "From there, you'll be able to see on the left the Church of Martel." After a bit of silence, she added with a soft voice. "If you'd allow me, I can assist you going there."

Airey blinked. Was this lady another noble? She seemed almost… bored… at the fact that Airey was lost wandering around Meltokio. “Um… hello ma’am. How are you today?”
"I am fine. Thank you for asking." she replied in a polite yet bored tone. She didn't really feel like entertaining anyone. She felt like she had done this one too many times. "What brings you to Meltokio?"

"...I suppose you're not related to the Sybak Research Institute, aren't you?" The man looked like he was a scientist of some sort. Either that, or he was part of the militia. Mylene didn't really know. The outfit didn't seem to be related to either of the two.

Well, Kyle now had a good enough reason to worry. After all, Darillshade was one of the most well known cities in Seinegald. Guess he really wasn’t in Seinegald anymore. Judging by the weather of this place, he assumed he wasn’t in Phandaria, either. “So… You have no idea where I’m from, then…”
"Unfortunately, I do not." She replied, before pursing her lips as she thought a rather outlandish thought. "Perhaps it's just age talking, but... is it possible you're from... an entirely different world or planet?" Mylene had heard rumors before of an entirely different planet aside from Tethe'alla existing alongside them. Apparently, it was the moon, Sylvarant? Though she had never heard though of extraterrestrial life, but she knew it was possible. So could it be? That Kyle came from another world?
