Me, constantly
“It’s 4 AM and it hurts far too much to breathe I can’t believe you actually fucking died on me Actually left me Can’t believe how alone in a crowded fucking room I feel”
—
The reunion
somewhere out there I know you’re waiting
somewhere out there I know you’re saying
“I love you. and I miss you too.”
I can’t hear those words but I feel them physically
I can’t see you now but I sense you next to me
and I cannot wait for the day
that I find that somewhere out there
our reunion will forever be on replay
(t.s)
“You’re really never coming back.
No matter where I go, you’re always with me.
You’re in my head,
You’re in the background.
Wherever I go I can see you,
I can smell you.
I don’t forgive you.
I don’t forgive myself.
But I want to.”
“The worst type of crying wasn’t the kind everyone could see–the wailing on street corners, the tearing at clothes. No, the worst kind happened when your soul wept and no matter what you did, there was no way to comfort it.”
— Katie McGarry
“There are memories that time does not erase… Forever does not make loss forgettable, only bearable.”
— Cassandra Clare, City of Heavenly Fire
I lost someone I love
the other day,
& I’m having trouble
dealing with the guilt
that sorrow brings.
Every thought & emotion,
every breath in my lungs,
wants to bring her
back to life,
but I know that’s not
the way of things.
.
So if I appear withdrawn,
it’s because I’m feeling
traumatised,
my heart has been
deluged with grief,
& I’m swimming against
the pain inside,
gathering my strength
in the sunken north,
until it’s time to fly south,
to say one last goodbye.

For H - RIP (7 Sept 2019) ❤️
like a flower
Like a flower,
a gentle breeze
planted you
on Earth
where you were
welcomed into
a household
that cared for you,
allowing you to grow,
making the world
a beautiful place
with your faith,
your kindness,
& your love
Now it is time
for the gentle breeze
to pick you up
& carry you
above the clouds
to exist for eternity
You will be missed
here on Earth,
but each time
the wind dances,
we will remember
and cherish
your wonder
“Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.” — Vicki Harrison
“Sometimes, unexpectedly, grief pounded over me in waves that left me gasping; and when the wave washed back, I found myself looking out over a brackish wreck which was illumined in a light so lucid, so heartsick and empty, that I could hardly remember that the world had ever been anything but dead.”
— The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
“Grief is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
— Jamie Anderson, via tinybuddhaofficial
“There is not a reason for everything. Not every loss can be transformed into something useful. Things happen that do not have a silver lining.”
— Megan Devine, It’s OK That You’re Not OK
you know that feeling when you’ve been crying in a room for a long time the entire room smells like sadness
After you lose someone, there’s a point where all you can tell to others are the same stories over and over because you can’t create new ones. And they get old pretty quickly but you can’t stop telling them because they’re the only stories that remain
Reminder: you are more than what you produce. You are infinite, unmeasurable. The whole of who you are can never be contained by a number or a weight or a word. You are changing, you are growth, you are breath and warmth and beating heart. The expanse of who you are can never be contained. You are more than what capitalism wants you to be. You are precious and irrefutable and solid. You are deserving, no matter your usefulness, no matter your utility, no matter your paycheck or age or ability or accomplishments. You matter, solely for existing.
“I will not rush the healing process. I will go through this journey with a patient and open mind.”
— Affirmation of the day.
Someone: are you ok? Me: *does the feel good inc laugh*
