May 30th is one year since dad passed and 5 months since mom followed. My family is cleaning out and fixing up the home we grew up in before we put it on the market. Growing up, these shelves were filled with canned goods, napkins, paper towels and the likes.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon making easter bread with my brother and sister, Frank and Rose, and Rose’s kids, Max and Esme. Following our mom’s recipe, we punched, kneaded and rolled the dough into tiny loafs, covering them with the same cloth mom used.

As it is in my family, no get together is complete without some entertainment. Max has such a sweet touch on the piano and he kicked out some boogie-woogie and classical pieces he is working on. I easily heard his personality come through in his performance.

Not to be outdone, Esme (Whose shirt reads, “Always be yourself...Unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn.”) picked up the hula hoop and spun left...then right... and then tied her hair up in a ponytail - all while whipping a piece of plastic round and round like a helicopter blade.

...Which led to Frank and Rose taking a turn on the hoop!!!

I had to leave before the baking finished so I’ll try the bread tomorrow. Memories relived and new ones made.
