Merlin x Morgana AU edit
“Was that truly so hard, Merlin?” Morgana asked. She picked the apple up and toyed with it, watching for Merlin’s reaction.
“No,” he smiled. “It felt so…freeing. I felt so alive. Is this why you do it? Why you kill them?”
Merlin’s clothes were stained beyond repair. Neither he nor Morgana knew strong enough spells to scour the blood and innards that had stained them. Merlin tossed them into the fire. He tilted his head and the fire engulfed the remnants of his deed.
Your shoes,” Morgana reminded. Merlin nodded and hefted them into the fire as well.
Merlin turned a bit red, but then he stepped to the bucket with water. He waved a hand to warm it.
“Who was it?” Morgana asked.
Merlin shrugged. “A knight. Didn’t know his name. One of King Bayard’s men.”
Merlin felt a shiver run down his spine. He scrubbed blood off of his thighs. He heard Morgana going through his bag.
“A map,” she said. He heard the scroll unfurl on the table. “For what?”
“I didn’t ask,” Merlin shrugged. “But there are other men.”
He looked over at her and they locked gazes.
“My turn.” Morgana smiled and strolled out of their encampment.
Merlin finished cleaning, found a new pair of trousers, and sat down to study the map. He saw markings around the mountain - different shapes. He had no military experience.
Maybe Morgana would know someone here, or one of the knights would survive the confrontation.
I love you for this.
