“So you just want to be rejected by both sides, huh? Me too- even if I just say I am queer really, there is no need for those silly human labels where I come from. I am fluid as is my sexuality.” she grinned at the other, he wasn’t so bad when she had a decent amount of alcohol inside of her. A great evening indeed!
“Ah, what a dick.” she decided as the other told her about being thrown out. “Were you thrown out of a house?” she asked and gasped at that as she imagined the other on the street. Homeless- sad - everything. She inhaled sharply. What a despisable moment!
Her? “I broke up with him, after my brother died, I was too sad and then when we met up again here I thought… Well he was so sweet and I was sure we could rekindle something or maybe he would at least give me his seed for children and then I find out he has a GIRLFRIEND.” She slammed the glass down. The glass exploded on the bar but the wine held still in the air- she manipulated it and it dashed through the air and into her mouth. After swallowing she said ‘oops’ and the bartender frowned but cleaned and gave her a new glass.
“He had a girlfriend and I just figured I was not important so that was that. My dreams crushed. I might have broken up but I also came here for him.” She inhaled again and looked at her glass- hatred obvious in her eyes. “I had my collagebook with all my weddingplanning with me and he told me about how cute his girlfriend was.” She recalled and shook her head.
“I hate him, I hope he dies.”
“Damn, no need to be easy on the first date Jinki! Most people would take advantage of a statement like that, don’t you know that? Or is that your aim?” She laughed at that and ordered a new glass- promising the bartender that she wouldn’t break this glass. Or well, she would at least pay if she broke this one as well. “He did! He did not even soft-launch it or anything, it was out of nowhere.” She wheezed, and while she might not have been the best person in that situation either she also thought she was right without any hesitation!
“For nothing, only to hurt us.” She decided as she got all worked up again (and put the glass of wine on the bar). “I just need a man with working sperm, is that too much to ask? I JUST need someone with a penis even! Doesn’t have to be a man!” If anything, at this point she did not care about anything- a sentient penis would do! “What about you, what do you need?” she finished her glass and accepted the round from the other.
“Do you need sperm too, Jinki?” she asked, holding the other’s hand in sincerity. “Do you have a yearning womb as well?”
She smiled at the man. “Do you now? Or are you just a very trusting person?” she teased as she ran her hand through his hair with a grin. “But thank you, that is very sweet.”
She would disagree with the other though- at least in her mind she would because she was far from a good person in her mind. Knowing the illegal stuff she did. Though, maybe, that was not what her soul was. Who cared about fake brand bags when there were people who actively hurt the nature and people around them? In that regard her actions weren’t so bad.
“A doll?” she asked and then smiled “Joohyun?” she said in recognition. “I should thank her when I see her for bringing you here. That is very sweet of her. I don’t know much of her history but it can’t be much good- the world has a habit of taking advantage of the sweetest and most innocent of our society, huh.”
“it is true, the world is not very good to those that are good themselves. She put her hand oh the other’s shoulder and squeezed lightly. ”I think it is very good what you do for people, you are a kind man.“ She did not know the other very well but she knew that the other meant well and in this cursed world that was often the only thing that mattered. Plus, it was often already too much to ask from people.
“Curls would look so good- how about blonde curls?” She asked and smiled, pulling herself out of her train of thoughts. “No, no shaving that would not fit your soft personality. Fluffy curls would be so nice, the ladies and lads will fall over each other to date you. Or do you already have a special someone in your life?”
Merry sighed at the lack of men that knew their spermcount. It was a horror- and Yongguk was definitely not the odd one out. Not many knew, in fact, Merry had not found a single penis-owner who knew their own sperm quality and that was a bit disheartening.
He mentioned friends and Merry made a face. “Most of my friends are very much not able to gift me sperm.” she admitted, some were not in possession of the right parts and others were very much dead-dead. There were also some that were just not what Merry was looking for- though she would not say that out loud. Why was it so hard to find a good donor? She eyed Yongguk’s muscles again and then eyed him.
“Oh? That must have been hard for you, I’m sorry.”
Back to fire-elements. “I don’t think so, the powers usually make each other weaker and not stronger.” She shrugged- not knowing much of it either. Though it just scared her to imagine the fire element mixed with her water element. It might harm the water for sure! Besides… “I don’t mind as much how strong my children are or not- but they need to be able to visit home, you know? Under water, so I am scared if I had a child with a lavaling or a dragonborn they wouldn’t be able to visit my home and that would be so sad…”
She smiled at the man. “Do you now? Or are you just a very trusting person?” she teased as she ran her hand through his hair with a grin. “But thank you, that is very sweet.”

Trinkets aside- Merry had a good idea of what contacts she needed and they were on these papers. She was satisfied as she looked up at the other. “A mouse?” she asked and looked at the footprint as she closed the clips on her back.
“I do, I just need information- contacts for new deals and such.” She smiled “A girl gotta eat,” a small shrug as she made sure not to leave any markings of her own and stepping over the pools of blood that were already getting tacky.
“Do you need help with tracking down… them?” she asked. She was not an expert at murder but maybe she could help. Make an ally- that would be nice. “I can run fast and have some tricks up my sleeve… and I have nothing else going on tonight.”

Her brows furrowed when he reacted so coyly and sighed before she led the way for the other and wondered what the other was on. “It isn’t a secret place, it is just outside of the boundaries of the academy,” she pointed out once again. Maybe this time he would hear it. The woman shot a knowing look at the ghost that accompanied them- one that said stay out of this one’s way. She did not trust it one bit but she was curious.
“Level?” she asked, and was confused. That sounded almost like a videogame character. “So you’re a lower… level?” she questioned the other and gave them a look over once again. Purpose? Curious. She took another look at the man and narrowed her eyes slightly- leading them through the forest but taking her time stepping over any branches and making sure she did not scratch her golden skin any more than she had to.
“Familiar?” she asked and eyed Hancock who rolled his eyes at the others. The ghost was tall and had long hair- but his face was disfigured on one side, eye dark while the other side of his face seemed to be unharmed. He wore a long coat and what looked like a pirate hat as they walked. “It’s my brother,” she said “Family business.” which wasn’t the truth either but it was close enough. “Why can you see him, what are you exactly?”
The woman returned the look as she stared at the man and wondered about his reason for being here. She knew she had touched a sore point- good. She thought to herself. She did notice it- of course she had to notice the smallest changes in people’s emotions in her line of work and she wasn’t talking about the hair dressing gig she did.
“Interesting, raised by your mother.” She had been raised by her father after her mother left them and took two of her siblings with her. Last time she had seen them was at Hancock’s funeral. Not a good memory. She hummed a bit and then nodded. “Makes sense,” she said as she looked at the other. There were no bones here to raise and she did not mind warlocks as much. It was reapers she despised.
“People don’t get born dead,” merry pointed out a bit taken aback by the other’s question but then sighed. The other was getting under her skin and he was annoying. That was as much as she gathered. “At least our people do not. I don’t know about your kind- now come on we are close to the border then you can do your weird magic there.” She gestured as she took a sharp left and then passed the magical barrier. She shivered- it was always odd to her when she went through. Hancock hesitated and instead sat down on a stump just inside the barrier.
Merry nodded approvingly. No telling who was outside at this hour- and who would want to get their hands on a lost soul.

The street was quiet, but only now- Merry had been in distress for a while since she had noticed that things had gone missing and she was insistent on finding a culprit. At first she had blamed her neighbour Jinki (in her mind, not out in the open) for the missing items but she knew the other was gone last weekend and a perfectly good piece of sausage had been stolen from her kitchen and that was just rude. There was also Spencer who was a rascal and she did not think he would be above doing really stupid things- but no, he would not do this to her.
Then there was the new person that moved in- she had not met the person yet but the thievery had started before the moving truck had arrived so they were also out of suspicion of this series of criminal acts.
Now Merry would not let this go unpunished and she knew for sure that at least Jinki had something stolen too- so there was only one solution. She invited everyone on their street for a meet-up to find a solution to this and catch the smooth criminal in their tracks.
“I have called you all here together,” she started as she looked at her neighbours who she invited in her living room. It was a nice and modern living room with little clutter but obviously water-themed, the neighbours were all guided towards the sofa’s and one big chair while Merry chose the side of the table to sit for herself. “to find out who the criminal is that has been stealing from us. For me, it has been three sausages, four dried fish and one set of expensive earrings!” She told the others in a sigh- it wasn’t like it was the end of the world but it was annoying. “Ah and also, I am Merry as I told you when I invited you, so uh, this is also your welcoming event- Achti, it was? Right?”

“Oh, so do you often buy things from people you used to fuck?” she asked with a little joking tone in her voice as she listened to the other. Amused. “You’re gay?” she asked and then tilted her head accusingly “You can’t be gay,” she stated as she looked at the other and recalled their very first meeting and how that one went.
“It is, like the puzzle pieces don’t quite fit anymore, you know?” she took a sip from her wine and then a bigger gulp. It was an evening to get drunk for sure. “Well, then lets have a good evening, okay? Let’s see a lot of walls!” she exclaimed and wanted it to be true. It was too sad to be alone and sad.
“You’re as perverted as I remembered!” she exclaimed but she laughed as the other said that and slapped his shoulder laughing, nearly spilling some wine. “That’s right! Onto the night of our lives, ah! Maybe we can get some extra chocolate from your ex-fuck too- was he a good fuck?” a small pause as she returned to the previous subject and lowered her voice “Was your heart broken too, Jinki-ah?”
Merry laughed at that. “They allow anyone in here, serial killers and world destroyers.” she shrugged as she twirled some locks of her hair to make them more curly. She needed to put another treatment in her hair tonight, the high humidity really did a number on it.
“Nothing, that is the point. Are you even listening to me?” she wondered if they had accepted someone to the academy that was, uh, special with how bad the other’s listening skills were.
As the other approached Merry got a little stiffer as she prepared to fight back if needed and she narrowed her eyes more. “It is outside of academy boundaries,” she said again, slower this time in the hope the other would understand her. “So they won’t care, you need to do your risky and illegal shit mostly outside of their reach- or well, their territory I guess. They don’t care what happens outside the boundaries of the academy only what happens within.” She shook her head slightly.
If the vice-principle accepted this young man personally they must have had a bad day (which she did not think was possible, but that was besides the point. Perhaps she attributed too many skills to the vice-principle). Or maybe they liked fucking around and seeing what ended up, well- they accepted Irene and Yeosang as well so they didn’t really seemed to do IQ tests. She snorted a little at her own thought process. While Merry would never say this to her friends in the face- she did have opinions.
“Do you want me to show you or not?”
Her brows furrowed when he reacted so coyly and sighed before she led the way for the other and wondered what the other was on. “It isn’t a secret place, it is just outside of the boundaries of the academy,” she pointed out once again. He wore a long coat and what looked like a pirate hat as they walked. “It’s my brother,” she said “Family business.” which wasn’t the truth either but it was close enough. “Why can you see him, what are you exactly?”
This one was adorable and she was sure that she would become great friends with him- in a motherly way for sure. The other seemed so innocent and young, it was adorable. “I’ll be your mom-away-from-home” she promised the other as she patted his shoulder and felt warm on the inside. Her family had always been close until her parents divorced and mom moved away with two of her siblings and she almost never saw them anymore.
Her favourite adventure? Visuals of nightclubs shot through her head- the body of the man she stabbed in her home- her brother dying. Those were all adventures but definitely not her favourites- though they always came up. She guessed that was what trauma was, unsure she shrugged a little as she was thinking it over and slowly more positive things came up. Having fun with her friends, setting up the shop and… “I swear I saw a dragon once- like in their old form and not the dragonsouls we know, but a real old dragon in the mountains. I am so sure of it and I climbed all the way up to a large cave but I couldn’t go in- as if it was magic holding me back!” she told the other before walking off.
The items on the ground made Merry stop in her tracks and she let out a frustrated sigh and glared at Hancock- still invisible to poor Yeosang -but very visible to her. “HANCOCK,” she yelled at her brother (probably scaring Yeosang). “Moment,” Merry grabbed the magazine from the ground and threw it at Hancock who cackled (the sound heard by everyone and then flew off to the back of the shop.
“I am so sorry, my brother likes to scare… people.” She had wanted to say ‘people who he knows will be terrified’ but she decided to keep that to herself. “You okay???”
A selfie? That was such a cute idea, truly! She smiled at the other as the man was so cute and easily lovable. So she felt extra bad when she scared the other so suddenly by yelling at her dumb brother. What was it with brothers and annoying their sisters? She was older than him damnit (even if it was just by a few minutes).
“Yeah, brother.” She did not answer the silent questions- but she knew they were asked and ignored them. Not wanting to go into the traumatic events that led to her being haunted by her sibling. It was not a good conversation to have and usually she liked to keep Hancock a secret- seems like he had different ideas and plans today. Ugh. She rolled her eyes as she looked at the ghostly figure and then looked back at her new friend.
“Sorry, hope I didn’t scare you too much.” she added the last one in a hopeful tone. “Yeah, his-” she shot the corner of the room a glance “name is Hancock, he is my twin, well we are part of a set of four, but he is my brother yeah. Dumbass wanted to joke around. He just- well, you know. Death can be boring I guess.”
The other did not seem to hear her at first- and then he did. Looking at the other and frowned. “You don’t tell me you haven’t heard about the vice-principle?” she asked and then added “or the headmaster? The most powerful creature known in the Earthly world?” She asked the other- and perhaps it wasn’t known and perhaps it were all silly rumours but the headmaster was powerful. They were (rumored) to be responsible for the protection of the academy and the cloaked figure was only seen with events and what-not.
“The vice-principle will have your head for this, you know, he has done it for less.” She observed as the other seemed to be stupid or arrogant. Perhaps both, he did however sense Hancock and she moved to stand in front of the ghostly figure. “Back off,” she warned as she narrowed her eyes at the stranger. A lot less friendly in this warning than the other.
“What are you doing anyway?” She asked as she looked at the leaves and then gestured to the North. “Literally take your magic 2 minutes that way and the academy won’t care. It is still in the forest and… very empty.” she had just done a drugs run there after all. “I can show you,” she offered, curiosity might kill cats but she was more akin to a fish, or a good tall glass of water.
Merry laughed at that. “They allow anyone in here, serial killers and world destroyers.” she shrugged as she twirled some locks of her hair to make them more curly. She needed to put another treatment in her hair tonight, the high humidity really did a number on it.

Merry wouldn’t mind fighting a girl- in the bedroom, a hot tub or mud. Not here, she rather stayed friendly. Or neutral- this was far from friendly after all. “Oh, well, that was a lot of work.” Merry said a bit dumb-founded. Though she had seen bodies before. Well, one, and that one had been in her own tub.
“A ring,” she asked questioning, and it was more like a curiosity thing than something else. “Well, okay, thanks I guess.” She walked slowly to the room and stepped over a body as she shone the flashlight of her phone on the massacre.
“You work… efficiently.” she complimented (?) as she then started to go through the closets. Her fingers turning into water as to leave no trace of herself as she searched while talking to the lady-killer.
“Me? Just someone that is doing her work, like you.” Merry shot a smile at the other and nodded. “Just that,” Nothing else- even if her job was a lot about illegal substances and counterfeit items. She did not think the other would care much.
Putting some files in her bag she looked up again at the stranger. “Is that footprint yours?” she asked the woman and nodded at a small footprint in the blood. It could be hers- or one of the smaller slain men.
Marina Doris Prideaux, known to most as Merry, was a smart woman. She was smart enough to walk through the forest armed with a gun and her angry ghost-brother to protect her as she was complaining to said dead sibling. “I do not believe that the drop point was wrong,” she wasn’t speaking loudly but enough to disturb the nightly critters that roamed around in the depths of the ink-black night. A squirrel ran away as she stepped through the bushes and hummed a little annoyed since she felt the greenery scratch her long legs. Who wore a sundress to a drug run in Autumn anyway?
She crossed through the forest and finally reached the well-known open field near the academy- near the academy and within borders. Walking into a man who she did not know doing thing she did not know of- but definitely recognised as something that shouldn’t be done there.
A stranger to her- but she huffed a little and her brother (invisible most likely to the stranger) added that this was bad news and to leave. She did not leave- instead she stepped forward and she was quite a sight in her sneakers (usually she was in heels but Merry was not vain beyond intelligence and she had gone through a forest) and sundress.
“You must be new here,” she said as she broke the silence and looked at the other- a man she assumed, who was starting to do something stupid. “If you do anything involving too much dark magic He will know.” she gestured with her head to the top of the wizard tower that was visible from the clearing.
Most knew better than to do anything too questionable within Insolitus borders- hence her hike. Which was involuntary but needed, she did not need some stinky snow elf’s nose in her business. Thus, she mused to herself, the other had to be new here.
She was tall, even without heels, as she shifted the weight from one foot to the other and waited for the other to say something- anything.
The other did not seem to hear her at first- and then he did. the night grows teeth after midnight
His mother had told him not to. Of course, Soo-ahn had, at the time when she'd warned him, already formed an opinion, revolving around the casual ideas of him 'knowing more than they thought he did' and him being 'more capable' than they believed him to be.
The warlock did not resent his mother for 'not believing' in him, however; he knew that, come hell or high water, his family had his back.
That did not mean that he was going to do as told. Not all the time, at least. His mother had planted the seeds of constant hunger and curiosity within him when he was just an infant. Forever craving more - more magic, more knowledge, more devastation - the warlock had trained his body and mind to never refuse a challenge and never back down.
...which is how he was, at present, minding anything but his own business. The path to getting to where he was right now, which is a nearby clearing in the forest behind his dormitory building, had taken him from the library, to herb collecting to carcass harvesting across the woods. Now that he had everything he needed, all that was left for Soo-ahn to do was inflict the penultimate blow before starting the rite.
He had to find a perfectly healthy, plump, one-of-a-kind, still-beating heart. Oh, and a mouth-full of pearl-white teeth.
