"Of course we can get that one, do you want to get it a friend too? Just so when we're both out of the room it won't be lonely?" Baekhyun asked.

Then, Baekhyun thought about the question Yeosang asked him. Does he like taking care of things? When he lived with his old human friend, he helped the man take care of things around his home. He had the most adorable dog and a greenhouse. The man was full of life and always looked for the best in everything.

But does Baekhyun like taking care of things?

He's never really thought about it before. Just like the Sun, Baekhyun just does.

"I suppose I like taking care of things. I never really thought about it." Baekhyun shrugs. Then when Yeosang compliments him, Baekhyun shakes his head and smiles at his roommate.

"Thank you, I'm glad you're my roommate too. I'm sure we'll have a fantastic time together." Baekhyun puts the fake plant in their cart.

"Sure!" Baekhyun's suggestion was easily met with a nod from Yeosang. He was already looking at the shelves that had small little signs they can place on the pot. The cloudling was already thinking of what they could name their new plants. "Choose the other one, since I chose the first. I'll also get these signs! So we can write their names on them once we get home."

He hoped that their friendship would last as long as their plants did, and seeing as the ones they got were both made of plastic, he was hoping that it would last a long while. Beaming at Baekhyun's words, the cloudling placed the little trinkets he picked up into their cart.

The cloudling wasn't really the best at making friends, but he really did hope that this one would stay.

Hemlock had a few apples in a small basket, and then some flowers he plucked on the way as he watched Yeosang struggle. They liked spending time with their friend but sometimes he did wonder where Yeosang’s braincells went and whether Amos had eaten them. They looked at the other as he was called out to and sighed at the gigantic basket.

“Yeosang, you do not even know this many people.” they pointed out- not entirely sure of this statement as he had no idea of the other’s social circle outside of being Amos’ prey. The demon in question was completely unaware of being prey themselves at the moment- not being used to such a ridiculous notion. Especially not when they were out making caramel apples.

“I want to make a few, one for you for sure my sweetie-” they teased in a sing-song voice and blew a kiss to the other as he winked and then sighed. “One for Amos, one for Belle…” a moment as they looked at the apples and then hummed since they had a few more people they could give apples to. “Do you think the sexy alien will finally want to talk to me if I give him an apple?” he asked Yeosang but did not expect a real answer right away.

“I hate pretzels, but M&M’s are fun. I like sprinkles though, or that candy that goes pop pop pop in your mouth, what is it called?” they asked not being up-to-date on human candy. Behind them a lady stood- tall and imposing who was talking to someone else. Hemlock frowned as the lady was in their aura but understood that with all the large caramel cauldrons there wasn’t a lot of space. The sticky liquids were still warming up as they spoke.

“Have you ever licked something off someone, Yeosang?” they asked, grinning.

"Yes I do!" The words were said in a nasally whine, because even Yeosang knew that he maybe did get just a little bit too much because of his own sweet tooth. But in his own (weak) defense, having caramel apples on hand that you can eat whenever you want sounded absolutely amazing. His whining was immediately put to a stop, however, at Hemlock's words.

The cloudling practically preened at the promise of a gift as well as the at the term of endearment, grinning wide right before he blew kissy faces right back. "I think anyone would be lucky to have you! What's the name of the sexy alien? I'll fight them for you if they don't talk to you." Not even thinking of the fact that Yeosang would probably lose a fight to even the weakest human, the cloudling went through his mental catalog of the people he's met ever since he moved here. He was pretty sure that he hasn't met an alien yet.

Nodding his head seriously at the new information, Yeosang committed Hemlock's preferences to memory. The cloudling was the type to buy random trinkets for his friends, so having such knowledge on hand was always useful if he wanted to get his friends stuff while he was wandering about. "Pop rocks! Those are fun. I like watching in the mirror while they pop on my tongue."

Now, Yeosang usually wasn't aware of his surroundings, but there was just something about the imposing lady who seemed to be slowly coming closer. He wasn't quite sure what exactly he'd do if ever worst comes to worse, but the cloudling wrapped his hand around Hemlock's wrist to tug the demon closer to him.

"Hyung, stoooop. You know I don't like talking about stuff like that! And in public too! Besides-" Yeosang's whining was stopped as the woman stepped closer to them, clearly planning to strike up conversation based on the smile on her face. With his hand still around Hemlock's wrist, the cloudling practically glued himself to the demon, clearly intimidated by the stranger.

Her voice was deep and smooth, completely at odds with Yeosang's expectations. He'd assumed it'd be raspier. "Are you two also making caramel apples?"

This one was adorable and she was sure that she would become great friends with him- in a motherly way for sure. The other seemed so innocent and young, it was adorable. “I’ll be your mom-away-from-home” she promised the other as she patted his shoulder and felt warm on the inside. Her family had always been close until her parents divorced and mom moved away with two of her siblings and she almost never saw them anymore.

Her favourite adventure? Visuals of nightclubs shot through her head- the body of the man she stabbed in her home- her brother dying. Those were all adventures but definitely not her favourites- though they always came up. She guessed that was what trauma was, unsure she shrugged a little as she was thinking it over and slowly more positive things came up. Having fun with her friends, setting up the shop and… “I swear I saw a dragon once- like in their old form and not the dragonsouls we know, but a real old dragon in the mountains. I am so sure of it and I climbed all the way up to a large cave but I couldn’t go in- as if it was magic holding me back!” she told the other before walking off.

The items on the ground made Merry stop in her tracks and she let out a frustrated sigh and glared at Hancock- still invisible to poor Yeosang -but very visible to her. “HANCOCK,” she yelled at her brother (probably scaring Yeosang). “Moment,” Merry grabbed the magazine from the ground and threw it at Hancock who cackled (the sound heard by everyone and then flew off to the back of the shop.

“I am so sorry, my brother likes to scare… people.” She had wanted to say ‘people who he knows will be terrified’ but she decided to keep that to herself. “You okay???”

"Okay! We should take a photo after this. I wanna have a cute selfie of us!" Yeosang was the type to be active on all his socials, all while making sure that most of his stories and posts had the same aesthetic, especially when it came to colors. Over the years, the cloudling could proudly say that he's practically become a pro at the different photo-editing apps on his phone.

The cloudling was just about to ask how dragons looked like when Merry's voice made him flinch. Yeosang had never been around people who raised their voices, so although he knew the shout wasn't directed at him, the way that he practically jolted in his seat was a reflex. Turning his head to look at where the cackling came from with fearful eyes, the boy gulped as he turned to the other. "...Brother?"

Although Yeosang was quite aware of ghosts and such, he wasn't exactly the most well educated on them. His single-syllable reply was short, but it held a lot more questions behind it— What happened to him? Why is he still here? How are you after everything?

With his racing heart eventually calming, the tension slowly left Yeosang's shoulders as he nodded and offered Merry a reassuring smile. "I'm okay. I just get surprised easily." He paused, carefully considering his next words. The cloudling knew he had a way of barreling into things with no grace, but even he knew how death could be a sensitive topic. Fiddling with his thumbs, Yeosang carefully broached the topic. "Um, is that his name? Hancock?"

If the two weren't so endorsed in their conversation, they would notice how a few of the other participants in the room were giving them glances because of the moviesque moment when Yeosang basically taught the mirrorwalker what a smile should feel like. The way his lips were now curved upwards but it didn't reach his eyes or really the rest of his face made it slightly unsettling perhaps but if there was something positive, it was that Alastair knew no boundaries and therefore saw nothing weird about a half-stranger stretching his face anew.

Instead, he was paying close attention to the cloudling. He observed every bit of the dimples that were pointed out and how it changed Yeosang's facial expression. Alastair tended to be blind to these things; he could spot patterns and errors in them quite easily but body language was usually completely lost on him. It showed in a very obvious way; he usually had no facial expression and he wasn't very animated in general. He was kind of just there. "Dimples.." he wondered out loud, his eyes saying he was trying to remember something. But memories were hazy, just slightly out of reach for him.

As if a spell had been broken when Yeosang pulled back, he went back to thinking about nothing. He stared down at his own mug, contemplating whether he could stray from instructions and copy Yeosang's rebellion. But he could not. His mug would be a plain ol' mug. He tried to reach the feeling of the smile again ( and someone quickly looked away when he looked at them with the most terrifying of smiles ), connecting that action with the smiley mug. "Al will be careful," he had said that one before, in the store he used to work at specifically, after making an entire stack of cans fall over.

"You will get this," he showed off his mug which was now almost finished and looked very much like a cheap replica of the one they had as their model, lacking any personality, "Al will always be with you." Now, if it had been any other person, it could be cute. But having Alastair say he was with you at all times- one could never take it like he wasn't literally there, watching you.

Although one could say that Yeosang was a bit more socially aware than Al, it could also be argued that it wasn't by that much, so the glances and stares thrown their way were completely missed by the cloudling. Clapping his hands at the mirrorwalker's attempt of a smile, the Yeosang nodded enthusiastically as he practically bounced in his seat.

"Yeah, just like that! See, you're a natural at it. You'll eventually be able to do it on instinct with just a bit more practice!" Did his words make sense? Barely. But to Yeosang it certainly did, and that was all that matters. Unconsciously puffing up his his chest at the thought that he was the one who helped Al find his smile, Yeosang couldn't help as a sliver of pride firmly planted itself in his heart. He'll definitely have to schedule their next meet-up. Maybe they can try baking something or doing those paint by number things. Those seemed fun.

Eventually turning back to their work table and smiling at their mugs next to each other, Yeosang nodded at Al's words. He's already planning to use the mug the other made for him as a pen holder, just so he can see it more often. "Okay! I'll always be with you too." Practically trilling at the fact that he couldn't believe it was this easy to make a new friend, the cloudling couldn't help but think that he wished everyone was like Al.

Yeah, he'll definitely have to plan their next outing soon.

The mirror-like eyes of the elf flickered over the items. They were antiques but he was older than many of the items in the shop and they did not really interest him. “Why would August want a dining table, we have plenty of dining tables.” he answered as he stared at a particularly ugly vase. It was a bright yellow with green spots as if it was a toxic frog- he made a face at it and then looked at the other again.

He did not know why he was here, this was for his wedding too but it was fine. Yeosang had always been a bit slow (said Ethirdil, who was also a bit slow so it was the pot calling the kettle black for sure). “Gods, I hope we get cleaners.” he muttered as he looked at the vase again. It really was ugly. Maybe he should buy it for Baekhyun. They had a terrible taste in things- maybe they would like the vase.

“A rice cooker would be nice maybe, or something fancy for Gust to wear.” he paused for a moment as he pondered “Something that would make August happy.” Ethirdil said and then added “If you see something with foxes, get that, he likes foxes, My August.”

Scrunching his nose at the question, Yeosang tried to recall his parents' reasoning. "I dunno. Mom said furniture and appliances and all those adult stuff are perfect gifts for newlyweds." A pause before he added, "I think a dog would would be better honestly, but she immediately said no when I suggested it." Perhaps fun garden design things would be better. For some reason, those bright pink flamingos just came to mind.

Eyes landing on the very same vase Ethirdil was eyeing, Yeosang lightly tapped the porcelain with his fingernail and trilled at the nice sound it made. It looked ugly, but it at least sounded nice. "Okayyy," drawing the word out, the cloudling struggled to think of how to bait the elf to divulge what he wanted. The purpose of this trip was to find out what the other would want, after all. "What about you, though? What do you like?" Well, Yeosang was never really subtle about things. Bulldozer in a china shop it is then.

At the new information about August, the cloudling hummed as his eyes sparkled. Even Yeosang could admit that he still had to re-learn some things about his brother in all but blood. A lot could happen with their time apart, after all, and he acknowledged that. "Oh, that's so cute! I like how you call him yours." A dreamy sigh escaped his lips, at the sentiment. He was a romantic through and through. "I think you'll be really good for each other."

It was a truth universally acknowledged that he would be damned, but he would be double damned if he did not actually voice that out loud.

"Well, I'll be damned," Soo-ahn said to the other as they offered to help. Non-fiction was, indeed, the correct direction and Soo-ahn had already gone through one or two shelves, before he got distracted and ended up following Yeosang to...wherever the other was going, deep into the library's cornerside shadows.

"I'm Soo-ahn," the warlock introduced himself right back, though, without a proper physical acknowledgement - like a hand or head shake or any other form of normal communication - his own 'greeting' felt bland at best.

"What are you doing here?" he asked. Duh, people came to the library for rather common reasons. But, if Soo-ahn hadn't come exactly for something conventional - why should the other one have?

Humming to a tune he'd made in his head, Yeosang took two sharp turns before gesturing to a shelf of older-looking books. If he was right (and he hoped he was because leading the other man to the wrong section was just downright embarrassing), then the other should be able to find what he was looking for here. "Ta-dah! I think this could be the right place? The librarian told me before this is where the older books are when I was looking for stuff for my Human and Earth History class."

Squinting at the titles and author names etched onto the book spines, the cloudling couldn't help but think how their library should really invest in better overhead lighting. Because the ambient lighting did make him feel like he was in Hogwarts, but it also made reading a lot more difficult. "Oh, I like visiting the librarian! She glares at me a lot because I can be kind of noisy, but I know she loves me."

Unbeknownst to Yeosang, the librarian "loving him" was still pretty debatable. But if anyones could live off delusion, it would certainly be the cloudling. Rocking on his feet, eyes tired from reading the few titles that he could. "So, why do you need the book? Are you the type who reads for fun? You look like you do. What's it even about? It sounds like a pretty serious book."

Yeosang blinked at the other's words. Those were a lot of words that made sense individually, but didn't make as much sense when put together. Nonetheless, the smile on the cloudling's face didn't falter as he repeated the words in his head. Dame Alice Kyteler, diary, before execution.

"I don't actually, but I can help you!" Yeosang's pestered the librarian hundreds of times now to look for the sources he needed for class. And the old woman was so frustrated with his questions that she had to sit him down to explain how their library's catalog system worked. He still had questions most of the time because he wasn't the brightest bulb in the box (or the whole house really), but he remembered some things.

Turning on his heel and walking towards where he knew the non-fiction section was, the boy declared, "To the non-fiction section!" Shooting the librarian a grin when she shot him a glare at his loud voice, Yeosang introducted himself to the other in a much softer tone this time, "I'm Yeosang, by the way. It's nice to meet you!"

The room smelled like vanilla and a clean scent that one would smell in a new car shop. “Mothers usually do that, mine is the same and I am, well, me.” he chuckled as he looked at the filth the other dragged in on his shoes and sighed as he walked over (already in slippers himself) and offered the other a set of fancy slippers for the time being. And a plastic bag for the disgusting shoes.

“Being a cloudling is a bit weird, or well, unique really. I haven’t met many of your kind around after all, I guess most of you stay up in the sky?” he asked as he sat down on one of the other sofa’s (far away enough to not get any of the other’s filth on him).

A laugh escaped the demon as the other questioned whether to call him mister. “Well you can, some do. But I think it is fine for now though you might be in a situation to call me daddy,” he winked at the other. “and I am the owner of several nightclubs and companies, so I need a good office, don’t you think? Do you like the decor?”

"I'm sure your mom must be really nice! You are, after all." Leaving his statement at that and not even thinking just how many holes it had, Yeosang trilled as he was given fancy slippers. The ones given to him were even better than some of the free ones from hotels, because some of those just felt like paper on his feet. But these ones were actually soft, and as he wiggled his toes after placing his dirty shoes in the plastic bag, the cloudling couldn't help but let out a content sigh.

Mulling over the question, Yeosang unconsciously rocked himself in his seat in thought. "I guess you could say that? We don't really have much reason to leave the cloud city since we have everything we need there, but some of us do venture out!" Puffing out his chest in pride, the cloudling couldn't help but boast, "When I became of age, I got permission to visit other realms." Not said was the fact that he also went missing for a while because of this.

Blinking at the offer, Yeosang couldn't help but give Minwoo a once over. The other man certainly gave off a vibe that he was more than capable of taking control of things and doing so well, the cloudling wasn't quite sure if he was ready to have a paternal figure in his life when both of his moms have been more than enough. "Daddy..?" The word was said more of as a question than anything else, with the cloudling taking the demon's words at face value, even with the wink thrown his way. "Do you want kids? I was already adopted once, but I guess you can be a pseudo dad if you want? You seem nice enough."

Perking up at the information offered, Yeosang ooh-ed and ahh-ed, very clearly impressed. "That's so cool! That must mean you're really rich and good with numbers. Because doesn't it get hard managing lots of stuff at the same time?" Scooting back on his seat so that he could freely swing his legs, the cloudling added, "And yeah, I really like the vibes here! Did you hire a professional? It feels all elegant and chic and stuff that I feel almost out of place."

They loved them. The way they moved when the sun hit their eyes and blinded them was akin to an angel stirring in their sleep. So beloved the other was by not only Hemlock- but all who knew him. Hemlock knew that people looked at their boyfriend a lot- but it filled him with a sense of pride and a smug self-congratulatory sense of winning at life. Seeing their relationship with Yeosang as a personal victory was just within their personality. They loved the other- in a way they had never loved another. It was a deep kind of love- possessive in the worst of ways and possessive in the best of ways.

There was not much to say about it otherwise- even if other authors would fill books and books on how much the demon had loved the other. For Hemlock he did not have to say this all as he cradled the other’s chin in his clawed hand and let his toxic breathe linger on the softest lips the Gods had ever created.

“Wake up, beloved” they would whisper in the early morning. Yeosang had come home late but ended up in his bed even if the other had a perfectly fine apartment themselves. He wanted to make the other wake up gently- loved by the demon and life itself. The toxicity was something the other had gotten immune to by Hemlock’s design. Slowly making sure his Yeosang got a little of it every day for months- eventually making them biologically perfectly aligned and in harmony.

So it was that the other opened their eyes and Hemlock felt their heart jump in celebration to be able to gaze upon the eyes of his lover and with a quick peck he got up to get them some tea and coffee. Maybe he would grab the tin of dough to make croissants and fill them with all the fillings that Yeosang preferred.

All and everything for his lover.

Yeosang could confidently say that he was one of the very few privileged enough to have been showered with love ever since he was younger. For as long as he could remember, his parents had made sure to be there for him— from attending the sports events he sometimes joined to clapping along with the audience as he danced along with his classmates for mandatory performances. Both his moms would always be smiling at him, offering him a quick peck on the cheek and a tight hug right as he woke up and just as he was about to sleep. But romantic love? That was something completely foreign to the cloudling.

So when he met Hemlock, someone who he had initially befriended before things took a more romantic turn, it was safe to say that Yeosang had his own worries initially. Hemlock was his first everything, after all, and he was more than a bit insecure at the fact that he just didn't know how things worked. But the demon had been nothing but patient and loving, never tiring of reassuring Yeosang when his thoughts and worries were a little too loud.

So lying here in the other's bed, burrowing himself into the other's side as the demon gently woke him up, Yeosang couldn't help but let out a sleepy smile at the familiar, deep voice. "S'too early, love," he mumbled into his boyfriend's shoulder, eyes slowly opening as he pressed his cheek against the other and reveling in the scent that was so clearly Hemlock. It was during soft hours like these, when the apartment was so quiet and the only sounds that could be heard were the shifting of sheets as well as their own quiet breathing, that Yeosang was bowed over by just how much he loved Hemlock.

He should probably bit concerned with just how graphic his thoughts were, but it was times like these when Yeosang would be reminded of just how much he wanted to carve space for himself in the other's chest, to curl himself inside the small cavern just so that he could forever bask in Hemlock's warmth, to be forever carried by someone he holds so dearly, to stay by their side for eternity and maybe some. "What time's it?" His words were slurred, sleep still coating each syllable, as his lips reached out to place soft kisses against the other's neck, creating a clumsy line from their collarbone to just below their jaw.

“Sure, we can do that. Let’s go to the fake plant area first and see if there are any that catch your eye?” Baekhyun asked.

He totally doesn’t mind, whatever makes Yeosang the most comfortable is okay with Baekhyun. There are also some really nice colors and many different types of flowers in the fake section. You can also get really pretty rocks and make the vases look very nice. Most importantly, Baekhyun’s favorite part, is that you can make your own arrangement of different types of flowers, and you don’t have to worry about their different needs. Baekhyun leads the two of them to the fake flowers and lets Yeosang take the lead. The flowers are set up in a really nice rainbow with pinks and reds closest to where Baekhyun and Yeosang entered and white, gray, and black flowers sat at the other end of the aisle.

“Let me know what you’re thinking.” Baekhyun said with a smile as he gestured to the very colorful aisle. After Yeosang picks out some flowers, then they’ll go to the arrangement aisle next door to the one they’re in right now.

"Okay!" Yeosang's chirp was accompanied by a pep in his step as he followed the other to the plant aisle, humming a song he'd made up in his own head. The cloudling clasped his hands behind his back as he trotted after Baekhyun. "Do you like flowers and taking care of things?" Although the inquiry may seem a little out of pocket to others, the cloudling's train of thought was that his preference for not growing flowers stemmed from the fact that he was well aware that he couldn't take care of things well, and having a plant die on his watch would probably be more than heartbreaking for him.

Spotting a fake flower plant with yellows, blues, pinks, and purples, Yeosang immediately gravitated towards it, already turning to his roommate with expectant eyes. "This one! Can we get this one?" The cloudling had never been the type to think things through for too long, and right now wasn't any different.

Blinking at the instructions given to him, Yeosang offered Baekhyun a genuine smile. "I think you're really nice! And I'm glad you were assigned to be my roommate."

Yeosang wasn't the only one who had imagined a future for Ethirdil and the fairy since the news broke- August, his brain always working overtime, had thought too far into the future as well but his picture was not as bright and shiny as the cloudling's. Ethirdil was one of his best friends, there was no doubt about that. August cared for him endlessly. But neither of them were the domestic type, especially when they were put in a room together, preferring to party together instead. August didn't worry about that future in itself, not what could be between him and his friend precisely, but worried more about his position in his family. That was what the marriage was all about, after all.

"Lucky for you, you don't need to start baby or pet sitting in a long while," August chuckled, that light-hearted sound dying down when the other's expression dropped at the mention of his family. "Don't pout," he said, all too quietly. His eyebrows pushed together, heart twisting in his chest when he could see Yeosang slip somewhere else, inside his own head. His thumb brushed over the cloudling's cheek, attempting to bring him back into the moment, trying to calm the wave of unease within him when he thought about his wedding day and the possibility of his best friend not being there. At that moment, after seeing the other's reaction, he promised himself, and silently to Yeosang, that he would work something out. The cloudling would be there.

"We'll make it happen, somehow, won't we?" he offered the other a small reassuring smile when Yeosang was back with him, the worry still shining through in his eyes. By the time the cloudling touched his cheek, his hand had already dropped back onto the bed and he was ready to nuzzle towards the palm playfully before his brother-from-another-mother spoke up. The fairy blinked, letting the words sink in. He was rarely serious, protecting himself somehow with his carefree attitude, but it was different in the cloudling's company. He could just be, simply exist.

The words did, however, make him feel choked up, combined with the soft touch that August always craved so much. His eyes were getting watery and he couldn't swallow the lump in his throat, pushing himself up to sit on the bed instead. "Hey, you're not supposed to make me emotional yet, we haven't even opened the champagne," a faint laugh left him, though it was breathy and not as happy as it usually was. He covered Yeosang's hand with his palm and placed it back down, practically hopping off the bed. It felt like he had to move, his heart pounding in his chest. Although he couldn't place where his reaction was coming from, it was the anxiety that came from being taught to do as his parents said or he would displease the ancestors and that would be bad.

"Let's change the subject for now- how are things with you? Tell me everything I've missed," he moved over to the little table by the couch where they had been left a bottle of champagne and some glasses, fumbling with it to pop it open.

August's words were like a balm, the simple touch and reassurance more than enough to bat away the worries the cloudling had. Yeosang knew that he had a tendency to get lost on his own thoughts. It was why he so often found things to distract himself— be it with a shiny trinket that caught his eye or a completely brand-new thought that was much less heavier than the one he was hyperfixating on. His avoidant personality to most things was known to many around him, and he was once again grateful because of just how much August knew about him and cared for him.

"Okay." And just like that, the cloudling was able to pick up the smile that slowly slipped off his face earlier. Whatever drama that would no doubt occur with the Tabris family, Yeosang was reassured that he at least had August by his side. And by his standards, that was more than enough.

Playfully rolling his eyes at August's words, Yeosang playfully retorted, "You're just a big cry baby." Not said was the fact that they were both one and the same in that aspect, because the cloudling was sure that if his brother-in-all-but-blood bared his heart to him, he would be similarly tearing up right now. He accompanies his words with a squeeze of August's own, his digits only loosening their grip on the other when August let go. It was a habit that he had picked up from his parents, both of his moms making it a point to only pull away from a hug or a cuddle session only when Yeosang made it clear that he's had more than enough.

Scrunching up his face in thought as Yeosang mentally listed out everything that's happened to him ever since he enrolled to the academy, the cloudling counted each of them on his fingers. "Well...." He drew the single syllable out, still trying to organize his thoughts. "Classes are fine, I made a friend who made it clear he didn't want to be friends with me, some of my classmates are weird towards me, and I met Amos." Holding up four fingers as the cloudling smiled as he watched August fumble with the champagne bottle (he wasn't a drinker so he would probably lose an eye if he was the one who opened it) as he walked closer to the couch. "Which one do you wanna know about first?"

The basket of apples Yeosang was currently clutching on too was clearly too much, with one or two falling out of the container with almost every other step he took from the orchard to the small kitchen that functioned as their classroom. However, the cloudling liked to think that he was simply getting his money's worth for the workshop by making as much caramel apples as he could. Besides, making more just meant that he could give more to people— and he already had around 10 people he wanted to give gifts too.

"Hyung, hyung!" Calling after Hemlock in excitement, Yeosang turned to the other man with a bright smile, placing the basket of fruit down with a grunt and completely unaware of the pair of eyes that were keeping track of the demon. "Are you excited for the caramel apples? I wanna make mine with toppings. I think they had nuts and chocolate! And even Oreo, so that's fun."

Looking up at Hemlock with assessing eyes, Yeosang declared. "You look like a pretzels and M&Ms type of person."

It never ceased to amuse the demon how easy to fluster the other was; how easy he was to reel in and shape exactly how Amos wanted him. The cloudling's war with himself didn't go unnoticed by him in the slightest but Amos was a mask of calm and nonchalance, letting the boy think he had an ounce of privacy. Yet, Amos considered Yeosang to be like glass, transparent and easy to break.

He led the cloudling through the club, barely paying any mind to the people who freely stared. It wasn't exactly gawking- some of them looked hungry, almost, to try what he had on his arm. Exactly what Amos had been going for, essentially using the other's innocence for his own selfish gain. "Oh, you are helping, sweet thing. Be mine," his lips curve upwards into his usual smirk, though this time it's a little more subtle, his focus mainly on the work ahead.

The demon wasn't much of a club-goer, he disliked crowded spaces like that only because he preferred not to wrinkle his clothing or have anything spilled on him. The thought of having people bump into him always made him clench his jaw before he could even get into one. But the club they were at right now was much more spacious in that sense, with no people crowding everywhere but rather on the dance floor, and the rest was neatly arranged and people stayed at their tables or by the bar. The music wasn't too loud, the air didn't smell of sweat like the worst places he had gone to when he was younger.

A pleasant place overall. A man stood in front of the door they were heading towards and he recognised Amos instantly, opening it without any other word than a short welcome. So far, he was the only one to not lay eyes on the cloudling with him, as if out of respect for the demon. "You look marvellous," Amos praised Yeosang one more time as he adjusted his clothing the smallest bit and then they entered what could be thought of as the lion's den.

The room was clearly made for privacy, silencing the club's music behind its door. Two nicely dressed men greeted them with a handshake that lingered a moment too long when it came to the cloudling- Amos allowed it, encouraged it even. On the table, were a folder and glasses with an expensive bottle of whiskey. "Shall we get to it then?" he was never one for unnecessary small talk, directing their attention away from the other momentarily. Perhaps Yeosang could even soften the deal a little with his presence.

As expected, they were asked if they wanted anything to drink, even when they knew very well Amos did not mix alcohol with business. It was just a courtesy. The demon declined and let Yeosang make his own decision just like he had said in the car; Amos rarely made decisions directly for others, instead, he slithered into their mind and affected their decision-making in a subtle yet efficient way, making them think the choice was theirs, while he began to prepare the folder he had brought.

Amos' words made a blossom of pride bloom somewhere deep in his chest, just the simple thought that he was able to give the other something just with his mere presence making him feel content. The smile on his face was now much more genuine, absent of any nervousness that he was feeling earlier. Unbeknownst to the cloudling, however, it made him stand out all the more, because such an innocent expression belonged nowhere inside the club the two of them were in.

The tension in his shoulders was just a little less with the demon's reassurance and praise, and just as he nodded his thanks at the man who opened the door for them, Yeosang was faced with his next big challenge. Trying his best to emulate August's mom or their older sister, he rolled his shoulders back and pasted a pleasant smile on his face. The way he channeled them was almost perfect, if not for the slight tremble of his hand that was still daintily placed on Amos' forearm.

One would reckon that it was normal for anyone to be nervous in the face of such important people. However, that wasn't even what Yeosang was scared of. What he feared most right now was disappointing Amos— of the demon turning to him with their eyes narrowed or lip curled because he did something that was unbecoming, therefore reflecting on. The scene that he himself painted in his head was so vivid that his reaction to it manifested in the way that his fingers shook just so.

Offering the two men a small smile and a demure "Nice to meet you" as he bowed slightly, Yeosang directed his gaze to Amos once more, planning to take the demon's lead. From an outsider's perspective, it made it clear just how dedicated Yeosang was to the demon, the cloudling instinctively turning his body towards theirs just as how a sunflower would to the sun. (Which was quite funny if you thought about it, because Amos was the last person anyone would deem to be sun personified).

Requesting a sweet non-alcoholic drink (just because he couldn't help himself and his sweet tooth), Yeosang eyed the folder Amos had brought. From what he recalled, Anthea and her mother were experts in holding small talk, but then again her pseudo aunt and cousin did always have stronger personalities than him. Yet, the cloudling still tried his best, mind on overdrive as he carefully chose what words to say. "My name is Yeosang," he offered, the tone he used being one that would probably make the house of Tabris proud. "This club is quite nice. I quite get it now why it's become your choice of venue."

There. It was bland enough with just a hint of warmth or playfulness, his uncertainty only showing in the way his eyes slowly slid towards Amos, almost as if he was seeking their approval.

an angel and a cloudling walk into a pub — yeosang & shiloh

Ever since returning to an independent existence outside of his golden cage, Shiloh led his life in an overly cautious manner. Intoxicated with all sorts of paranoias, fearful of even the potential for his shadow to betray him, the angel found himself more often than not on the edge. Daily life was conducted after a strict routine, never straying too far from home, and always keeping his eyes wide open for any potential danger that could loom in the dark.

Although not fond of pubs, since the little holiness left in his bones still kept Shiloh from falling into the claws of sin, the angel added the nearby pub in the village on his list of safe places, which he visited any time staying inside his apartment became unbearably suffocating. Even if one could argue, compared to the kind of thoughts that roamed inside his mind, alcohol was the least of sins he could commit. Priorities were clearly misplaced.

As usual, Shiloh sat by himself, staring for hours on end at some fruity, sugary drink as if looking long enough at it would miraculously refill the glass. Being approached definitely took him by surprise, in the blue eyes playing something in between shock and fear as he glanced at the stranger. Luckily, the angel saw not a single trace of flirting in the other's words, which instead made him quite suspicious.

"Hi." Shiloh responded drily as his eyes narrowed while examining the cheerful presence by his side, purposefully avoiding to mention his name. After all, he was persuaded the other knew it already and tried to fool him. "Not that often. Some days I might be here, other days elsewhere, some times nowhere at all. Why do you ask, though?"

Not really minding the other's dry tone, Yeosang's smile only widened as he fully turned in his seat to face the other. The cloudling was the kind who could technically read people's tone and expressions, but more often than nor, he couldn't really understand why they were reacting that way.

A prime example would be the man seated in front of him now at the pub, their eyes narrowed in obvious suspicion. Yeosang couldn't even fathom why they would be so wary of him, the thought of someone talking to another person and actually having ill intentions towards them not even passing through his mind.

"I don't go to pubs often, so it's my first time here." Swinging his legs since his feet couldn't really touch the ground from the stool he was seated on, the cloudling took a sip of his drink before he continued. "I'm a student from Insolitus, and my classmates invite me to go out after classes sometimes. But I don't want to appear too clueless, y'know? So I sometimes go around by myself."

Shrugging his shoulders, not even phased by the fact that he probably overshared, Yeosang pointed to the other man's drink. "What'd you get? Does it taste good?"

It was normal that people listened to the arch-demo so he didn’t look up at that and instead nodded approvingly. Not even really registering it if he was being honest. His red and golden eyes shot up from the bodies around them. He had been counting them to make sure he got them all (he did).

“Your mother sounds like a reasonable and smart lady, you should listen to her.” Minwoo was fond of mothers in general- more so than fathers which was entirely based on his own parents. That he was a father himself was beside the point. “Though humans will attack at any time, day or night. It doesn’t matter- the night used to be our time, not theirs and yet…” he shrugged, a thought unfinished.

Minwoo would have a field day if he heard about the questions the humans asked. He was a demon but he was decent most of the time- even if he was covered in blood and brain matter right now. Details. Nonconsequential. “You think you got the job? Where they asked so many questions?”

“Gross.” Minwoo shook the other’s hand from his arm and made a face as he took two steps away from the kid. “Well, you seem to be good at people who are in one piece.” he pointed out, looking around him at the bodies and then at the kid. Yeosang, as the resume stated.

“Fine.” Minwoo sighed as he got a small vial of blood (from nowhere seemingly, but it was from his pocket) and threw it against the wall, summoning a portal and stepping through it. If Yeosang decided to follow they would walk into a neat office in black, red and golden. Minwoo’s underground office under his nightclub in Vighulir.

“There are some napkins and a sanitizing handgel there on the side table” he nodded at a small sleek black table next to a large red sofa.

Teleportation didn't seem to go quite well with his nausea, so Yeosang had to close his eyes and hunch over just a bit as he felt the ground disappear and reappear beneath his feet. It was only through sheer will and the threat of embarrassment that the cloudling didn't vomit again. Using the handful of seconds to take deep breaths and wait as the churning in his stomach slowly faded, he eventually followed the demon.

Gray eyes looked around the room, now with much more wonder, as he's met with a fancy office. "Thank you," he eventually said, recalling the other's words about his mother. "My mom frets a lot about me and stuff, but that's just how she is so..." Yeosang was a bit of a mama's boy despite the way that he regularly went against their words, so any compliment made towards them was a compliment for him as well.

Taking a second to recall what else the other said (because his memory wasn't really the best), Yeosang gingerly sat on the sofa before reaching for said napkin and hand gel. "And, um, I don't think I'd quite like to work at the place with lots of questions. They were pretty... weird about me being a cloudling." There was a beat of silence as he paused to take a good look at the luxury around him before he asked, hands wringing each other as the sent of alcohol filled the room, "Should I be calling you mister or something? This looks like a really fancy office for rich people, and I don't wanna get in trouble for being rude to you."
