Late Night Stalking || Bucky and Natasha
"Tiny cakes »> large cakes," she says firmly, punctuating the ‘greater than, greater than, greater than’ with finger movements drawing the symbols. Her face is as expressionless as she can make it (which is admittedly pretty expressionless) and she stares him down, daring him to argue.
She’s had more than enough arguments with the foodie nerd that is Jasper Sitwell. She can handle another.
Croatia.
No doubt the Winter Soldier had been to Croatia more than once. It’s not impossible that he had been late in Croatia more than once. But the place brings back memories. Of hot fury being placated by self-disparaging looks and a boyish grin, and eased along by a paper bag of hot beignets and a cool night of planning how to reclaim a shot mission.
"You showed up three hours late because you forgot to reset your watch?" she quips easily without meeting his eyes.
He rolls his eyes as she makes the finger movements to punctuate her point. He knows a lost cause when he sees one. "Alright, alright. Tiny cakes are better larger cakes," he says, waving her off and finishing the argument.
Memories are a tricky thing. That's a direct quote from the SHIELD scientist that looked him over. They'd also said that anything can trigger memory recall, and it can happen at any time.
He forces a small smile as he chews the inside of his mouth. "Yeah something like that. Plus a wrong turn and a few hours later I finally found where the hotel was." He doesn't remember pictures, but rather he remembers the warmth and happiness.
