as mentioned in a previous post, yokane’s father disappeared prior to the completion and success of a mission where he collaborated with the police. she only knows that he was last seen alive ( although injured ), and went missing ten days after the mission ended. she could never resent her father for going missing; she can only hope more is uncovered about his disappearance.

yokane’s eyes could only stare at her friend’s, the bright pink color in her own fading as she watched the blood drip from the girl’s shoulder. they had been running away from thugs chasing them. it was a mission, but even for these two, it was a bit more than they could handle. the overwhelming stress of halting the villains had taken over her need to protect her classmate, rash in her swift movements to paralyze the opponent while he was coming up behind kasumi. the metal had stopped him, sure, but in the end cut through the girl more then she had meant to. with her eyes moving to gaze at the ground, where blood continued to drip in a puddle, her focus became blurred as she mumbled.

although not brought up very often ( or at all, pardon ): yokane is japanese-american!! and although primarily raised in japan, there are still american customs that she tends to subconsciously follow.

one very common one is the use of personal names over family names / surnames. so if you’ve ever met her, she will most likely ask you to call her ‘ yokane ‘ instead of onbin.

in america, calling someone by their last name is commonly for formal situations or suggests one is in trouble, so to always be called ‘ onbin ‘ makes her feel as if she’s going to be scolded or punished.

so, if we have a pre-established relationship ( or you are a bnha muse, adults can be excluded ), please refer to her as yokane !
