Wonder Woman & Poison Ivy JUSTICE By Alex Ross

this was Illustrated by Dougie Braithwaite, with Colors (and Co-Authoring of the Story) by Alex Ross, and a Script by Jim Krueger. Alex painted over Dougie’s pencils in Watercolors.

Dougie plotted and penciled all 12 issues of this book, including the covers. And that dude is underrated. Check my tags.

I loved Poison Ivy’s costume in this book. And yes, Braithwaite, who’s one of the few Black artists in the industry, is terribly underrated. Whatever happened to him?

Dougie is was working on some Valiant Books, last I heard. Valiant is a natural fit for his aesthetic anyways.

What a great artist, his command of human anatomy is just exceptional. Also, his work is such a good fit for Ross’s colors that at first I thought he did his own colors in Ross’s style.

Yeah, Alex picked him to pencil the book because of how similar their art styles are, and how well they mesh together in general. Both guys are classically trained artists, but Dougie is a lot better at plotting and storytelling than Alex is, by his own admission. Alex works more as a cover artist because he works better from poses and models. I am not knocking Alex, he just works better as a pinup artist than he does as a sequentialist, especially when compared to Dougie. Having Dougie pencil this book was really a perfect choice, because they mesh so well together. It was an opportunity for Alex and Dougie to bring out the best in each other, and they hit it out of the park.
