Imagination, the one feature that connects us with the deeper sources and possibilities of being, thins out every time another digital prosthesis appears and puts another layer of sheathing between ourselves and the essential givens of our existence, making it just that much harder for us to grasp ourselves as part of an ancient continuum. Each time we get another false inkling of agency, another taste of pseudopower.

During Amsterdam Dance Event the 4DSOUND team invited Peter Kirn (CDM), Ableton, Liine and ourselves to realise an inspiring 2-day hack-session. Embedded within a larger programme at the Compagnietheater, 25 sound creators had the opportunity to explore the 4DSOUND system, work on spatial sound composing and finally perform their work. For 4DSOUND, FIBER created this video, which captures the teams creative processes, their ideas and the use of DIY controllers, modular synths and creative coding environments to explore new sonic modes. Grab your headphones and enjoy!

Artist in Residence (AIR) project
The first three weeks of study have been the Artist in Residence period in which a lecturer comes and gives workshops and study groups with fellow Master of Music students. Our appointed lecturer Marc van Vugt discusses with us our artistic practices, what is we want to become and how to use the next two years to get there. This has been crucial in getting to know how the university and the course itself works. We have to envisage where we want to be in two years time so that we can define the study plan to meet that trajectory. Defining myself has been a great exercise in making me adjust to the reflective attitude I will need to develop from here on out.
Such mind exercises we have undertaken include where we want to be in 5 years time, 10 years time. Allowing us incredible freedom to dream big and not worry about restrictions. At the same time, writing these possibilities down allows to dispel fantasy from goals - and ensure that where we want to be in 10 years time joins in some way up with where we are now.
