“Nechku, what the hell are you wearing?”
“...pardon?”
screamshiranui:
She was going to start leaving instructions that paper bags should be left in her dressing rooms wherever she went.
The knot of anxiety felt heavy in her chest, and she willed herself to breathe normally. This was no different then going onstage for a show! There was a stage, and an audience, and everything she was used too! The only difference was instead of singing she had to talk. About herself. In front of millions.
The knot tightened and she wheezed a little, right as her name was called. She jumped, and turned in time to see the host of the show come in. She still wasn’t used to his height, or the obvious metal plating.
She sat up a little straighter and prayed she didn’t look like she was on the verge of a panic attack. He had been so nice to her, and the last thing she wanted was to worry him!
“I’m alright, it’s just the usual pre-show jitters. But thank you for checking up on me, Mettaton.”
He made her feel welcome on his show, kind of like she was part of a family instead of just a guest for one night. It was nice. Until she remembered there was a high chance she could say something stupid on live TV.
“Oh, but of course! Can’t have you getting cold feet before the show, can I?”
There’s a hint of a tease to it, but the comment is said with good intentions. Mettaton certainly wasn’t so big that he never experienced butterflies in his chassis either, after all. He was too big to ever admit that he had, but the principle stood.
“It’s really not that bad, darling--we get on stage, make some small talk, and after a regulated union break, we have our musical number, and boom jams! A perfect show. And yours truly will be by your side the whole time, so you CLEARLY have nothing to worry about.”
Mettaton had been articulating his points with fluid waves of his hand, but all at once, he stopped: an idea had come to his mind, his hand snapped shut, and his expression turned curious as he looked at Lorna. There was a hint of a smile just barely tugging at his lips, but it was kept down quite well. If nothing else, his acting prowess definitely wasn’t an exaggeration. Humility, maybe. But not his acting.
“Unless... do you think a little dress rehearsal might help your nerves? We definitely have time; and sure, things like this are better done improvised, but as I said, it won’t sit right with me to leave you hanging.”

“Loooooorna-daaaarling~”
Mettaton’s voice is charismatic--saccharine and silky smooth as it always has been, and even more so, difficult to ignore. But that was what worked out best for him in unfamiliar situations, and while he wasn’t as unfamiliar with the Japanese idol scene as he could have been (provided that Alphys was any kind of reliable source in that regard, which he doubted), there was no such thing as too much attention as far as he was concerned. Least of all from his guest star for the evening!
He supposed it was to be expected; even stars had days were they didn’t twinkle as bright as they could have, and as far as Mettaton was aware, this was Adenza’s first interview on past a national scale. And while lovely Miss Aden had been more than eager initially for the spot on his talk show, it naturally stood to reason that she’d be nervous. And Mettaton simply couldn’t have any cold feet on his stage.
His presence made known, Mettaton stepped into her dressing room, and shut the door behind him with a soft click and a supportive smile.
“Is everything alright in here, sweetheart? It’s all a bit fast, I know. I hope you’re not overwhelmed...?”
“Darling, I’d just like to apologize to you for everything that’s about to happen.”
“Aww, that’s nice, boss. You don’t mean that at all, do you?”
“...Well, I mean it ENOUGH.”

Mettaton in Sharknado.
SHARK!!
slight update and a small request folks
A laugh hid behind her curled knuckles at his fair and honest statement of himself. Blue eyes closed and she nodded. Malon couldn’t deny his statement! He was imposing. She’d been intimidated the first time they encountered one another, though her feelings came from being starstruck rather than fear. “I s’pose,” she agreed almost shy to agree with him. “I s’pose yer mighty hard to ignore,” but that had attracted the Hylian to the idol in the first place. Idols weren’t common in Hyrule and the fact that one was paying attention to her put her head in a whirl whenever he came around.
“Even so, we don’t got many that stick up for us,” there was of course one individual who did stand up for everyone. How he wasn’t spread thin completely eluded Malon. If Mettaton were organic she’d have done exactly what she did when her standard hero barreled in and fixed whatever was wrong and given him some milk or a story. “Poes ain’t too scary. They’re really more playful ‘round these parts than dangerous and they sure don’t like listenin’ to me. Guess I’m too soft,” she didn’t hold the same air he did. While she could let her daddy have it and Link for certain it was hard to imagine her being frightening towards anyone else.
She heard about his little friend, the ambassador and how they managed to peacefully move through the Underground. Mettaton spoke fondly of them and she wanted to meet them one day. A part of her thought they sounded an awful lot like another kid she met once upon a time. “I think if we all move in the same direction it’ll be easier,” she agreed.
“Oh golly,” her hand collided with the metal casing of his arm as she pushed him playfully. It wasn’t with enough force to knock him over or even send him stumbling back but the moment she made contact with him she covered her mouth and did her best not to laugh. “The princess,” she mused. “She's—oh she’s somethin’ real special. She’s the smartest and kindest person in all Hyrule,” or so everybody said. She also heard that she was the loveliest. She’d only seen her once or twice but she was a svelte blonde woman with the most enchanting eyes.
“M'friend Link. He’s friends with her they’d known each other since they was little,” since he’d known her. “Ain’t ever met her before but I got a feelin’ that y'friend be able to charm her or talk to her so long as that kid’s got a good level head on their shoulders. She’s got a soft spot for the adventurous sort. She likes things to be peaceful ‘round here and y’friend sounds like they want the same thing. I reckon’ when they meet they’ll be fine. I can have Link put in a good word for ‘em.”
“Nothing wrong with being soft, my dear. Not to say you shouldn’t stand up for yourself when you need to, but Kindness is always a rare trait in people these days. I think you’re just lovely as is.”
He held his hands up in mock surrender, but the point still stood. That had been, in part, one of the reasons Mettaton enjoyed these visits so much. Aside from the fact that Malon was a delight, her Kind soul was open and inviting, and in his line of work, with people calculating and desperate to flatter him, the kind of honesty that came with Kindness was a breath of fresh air. And he had no problem letting that be known. Friends of his deserved to know how wonderful they were, and he had a mouth to do it with.
That sounded much better in his head. Moving on.
“That sounds something like the description King Asgore gave me--then again, the princess he knew was from a long time ago.” That was a curious fact His Majesty had told him about Hyrule; in every generation, the crown princess was always Zelda. Mettaton didn’t know if it had any sort of sacred significance, or if it was just some sort of human tradition. Or perhaps Hyrule’s rulers were ALSO just bad at naming things? Oh no. He really hoped it was sacred.
“Ahh, yes, Link. I remember you mentioned him before. Is he your beau?” From the way Malon described him, it didn’t seem like that was a terrible stretch to make. That dreamy, faraway look in her eyes was not unlike the way Alphys would talk about Undyne when she thought he didn’t notice. He always noticed. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s there when Frisk visits, if he’s as close to the princess as you say. I just hope he’s come around a bit more to the idea of us since then. It sounded like his feelings towards us were rather...” He paused, squinted eyes looking off into the distance while he tried to find the nicest words he could muster. “...Stabby.”
He looked to Malon, genuinely seeking a second opinion. “Would that be a good word for it? ‘Stabby’? That feels about right.”
❛ ah—— i wouldn’t per se say “forgotten”. it’s somewhat folklore to us, monsters living under a mountain. makes for a pretty good fairy tale, but no one would think it’d be real, of course. ❜
“Ahh, yes, granted. But all fiction has its basis in reality. It wouldn’t really make sense for ALL these places on the surface to have ALL these stories about monsters if there wasn’t a grain of truth to them, right?”
Of course, the easiest thing for people to do when they’ve done something wrong is to make themselves forget they did wrong in the first place. That’s true of either race, though.”
“This chain isn’t going to yank itself, love.”
