OOC: I'm mostly making it up as I go but this is a brief explanation on the origin of pokemon in my headcannon. not saying everyone has to follow this order of events but it's what I'll be sticking with on this blog
first there's Arceus who then created the other "gods" or at least the ones responsible for the initial creation of the universe/pokemon world ect. mew was created when arceus decided they wanted to populate this world, making mew only technically the ancestor of all non-god pokemon and the more minor deities. still the ancestor of all the pokemon scientists would have dna record of at least
Changing all of this because I had a new better idea: Arceus did create mew (or multiple mews) first but mew was not conscious or sentient yet, just a source of dna for everything Arceus wanted to create. Mew "woke up" when Dialga and Palkia were created and continued to learn and adapt as new gods and concepts came to be. Once Arceus was happy their creations were able to survive on their own they sent them all to the pokemon world and for the most part left them to it.
but pokemon lore makes less sense the more you think about it so just don't think about it too much
