The thing is I think Mewgen’s name problem has been blown out of proportion and while the name leaves little to be desired (I have some alt names for other themes in the game), it’s an idea that could be explored in an interesting way. But at least go deeper with your metaphor if that IS what you’re sticking to. Make it describe the game it’s attached to rather than an aspect.

The cats get disorders and mutations due to the consequences of selective breeding and then what. They don’t show any struggle outside of battle. Their lifespan is determined by house stats and not their deformities. Other than the disorders and the NPCs being humorously careless about animal lives, idk if anything else in the game rly adds to the message of selective breeding consequences. Make the more mutated cats’ walking animations be hideously labored. Make some mutations tied with disorders rather than randomly inherited when breeding. I want a mechanic where you need to take a cat to the vet for breathing problems they developed overnight or else they die in an in-game week

Maybe keeping the fighting and pageant minigames would benefit the theme since those are actual things we have bred animals to do. The cats bred for fighting could have heightened aggression and start the most fights when you pass the day, like how some dogs bred for fighting are more likely to get aggressive when provoked. Maybe we’ll get that at some point, idk
