As much as it hurts to see my girl Charlie making the worst possible decisions, I think it makes a lot of sense for her character.
She seemed to have no friends besides her pets, her father had been absent until now, and now she's dealing very badly with her mother's absence as well. People who don't receive much attention from their parents seek validation. A lot.
In my opinion, Charlie actually had a point in trying to do the interview in live so as not to risk it being edited and them spreading misinformation. Buuuut I think she should have thought about it beforehand, maybe talked to Vaggie, had a script ready... but her flaw is that she's being very impulsive.
She wants to do the right things, but she's being impulsive and very irresponsible. Very irresponsible. To the point that she is hurting people she cares and loves. Emotionally and physically.
Not only that, but she should make the same questions that Vaggie did. Why is Heaven in lockdown? And are exterminations still going to happen?
But since she's being vilified by the media and people she already knows are horrible, but yet she wants and thinks she can prove them wrong. It seems like a mix of immaturity (she still hasn't learned not to care what jerks say about her, or at least to know that she doesn't have to prove anything to them if they don't want to hear it), and naiveté (she believes that everyone can be redeemed, so she probably thinks she can actually convince them).
Also, she's Lucifer's daughter. She's being proud. Very proud. And speaking of the devil (pun intended), Lucifer is also being very proud!! He obviously cares about Charlie and is trying to support and encourage her to continue with her dream. Buuuut when Charlie isn't around, he needs to rub it in Alastor's face how much more he's helping Charlie. He's turning it into a competition. Him not being present all the time with the rest of Charlie's friends is understandable to me because of his depression, but when he has the energy to be present, he pretends he has some connection or that he's having a conversation and doesn't even remember their names, instead of actually creating a connection with them!! The only person he seems genuinely with is Charlie, and that's a problem because it's just one goal that he and Charlie are focused on, and they're forgetting important things around them. They are isolating themselves from others with this behavior.
So yeah, I think Charlie is being impulsive and irresponsible, wanting validation along with wanting to prove the truth to someone who doesn't really want to hear it, being proud and pushing her loved ones away.
And I like this. I like that she's making a lot of mistakes this season! Protagonists who make mistakes but then learn from them and mature are great protagonists! We still have two more seasons confirmed, she has a lot of time to grow!
