If the anti-woke grifter weebs are complaining that the Witch Hat Atelier dub having accents is making the series “woke”, then they would have a meltdown over King Dedede in the Kirby dub sounding like a Foghorn Leghorn version of George W Bush. It’s really funny how those anti-woke grifter weebs are crying that the dub of Witch Hat Atelier having accents is considered “woke” now, but those same people will glance over various accents and celebrity impressions that were in anime dubs in the 90s and early 2000s.
Having a kiddified version of Animal Farm is like Disney trying to make a lighthearted animated musical of the Diary of Anne Frank in which she’s a beautiful adult trying to fall in love with a Nazi German officer.
I think the reason why conservatives hated Ted Turner because he had the audacity to create a cartoon that called them out on the shitty behaviors! When they saw that a media billionaire actually advocating for climate change and protecting the environment, they immediately lashed out on him!
With the death of Ted Turner, I think people need to realize that without him, animation on television would’ve been in the dumps! He almost single-handedly, saved TV animation in the 90s! Cartoon Network was the key for the tv animation renaissance in the 90s!
One of the most hypocritical things that I have ever seen from the right is that they complaining about Ariel being Black in the 2023 Little Mermaid remake, but they are either silent or agreed when over thousands of non-white historical people were played by white actors in the most offensive manners!
Alcyone Rayearth OVA version.
I think that Kappa Mikey has to be one of the most overlooked cartoons of the 2000s because it is literally a love letter to anime and anime fans. In fact, there was an episode in which it mocks how dubbers used to localized and censor anime in the 90s and 2000s!
Original Sailor Moon:
Generically voiced villain: You can not win Sailor Moon!
Ami Mizuno: Not if I can help it!
DIC dub:
Villain who sound like Silver Samurai: You can not win Sailor Moon!
Ami Mizuno in a British accent: Go bleach your roots you creep!
Original Cardcaptor Sakura:
Sakura Kinomoto: Quiet, polite, and almost soft spoken.
Tomoyo Daidoji: quiet, polite, well mannered.
Nelvana dub:
Sakura Avalon: Boisterous, assertive, almost teenage tomboy sounding.
Madison Taylor: valley girl teen speak
Magic Knight Rayearth Cast: Then and Now
If you can say what would be the holy Trinity of anime dub soundtracks, these would be my choices.
I don’t think we need a Netflix documentary to show how some of the celebrities that we all used to love (Gwen Stefani) were actually terrible people from the beginning!
As a kid, you love Yu-Gi-Oh! for the epic duels, action, and the monsters.
As an adult, you love Yu-Gi-Oh! because it was written by a leftist who was anti-war, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, antifascist, pro-feminist, pro-LGBQT, pro-globalism, and believes that friendship is the key to win a duel.
So Trump really believes that the civil rights act is the reason why white people are treated “badly” in this country. This is really rich coming from the guy who got sued because he refuse to rent to Black people back in 1973 and called for the execution of five innocent black and brown teenagers back in 1989!
I want to find out where did Sally Beatty get the bright idea when she was typing this article at Wall Street Journal to call DBZ, “Pokemon meets Pulp Fiction”!
It’s really funny that millennials are saying online that the 2000s was the last great decade to be a kid or a teenager are the same ones that are saying, “how did we survive that decade (2000s) full of rampant homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, sexism, xenophobia, and racism when we were kids and teens?!”
