Shorter hair this time
Men have a habit of looking extra good when battered from a fight, Stain is no exception 😫 Anyways this is like a combo between the Vigilantes design and the OG. Not sure how I feel about this visor. I still don't think he'd ever wear a full mask not only because it would hinder his quirk use but also because he likes to grin like All Might during fights. He is a fanboy through and through so he wouldn't hide his grin in villain mode. I do think he wears a mask as a civillian though.

I imagine Stain as a legendary swordsman from the Sengoku period (1467-1615) who was turned into a demon by AFO (Gwi-Ma) because he was so strong. He refuses to consume human souls though, so the lack of subsistence deteriorated his human appearance and made him look more and more like a demon. He is also not conscious and only moves on instinct, which makes it hard for AFO to control him. Demon Stain is still very strong because his body can fight subconsciously with reflexes, but if you don't bother him he won't attack and is just very derpy and zombie like. He experiences mental clarity when he is close to All Might and thinking he finally found someone who can defeat him, he expresses his wish to be killed. AM however doesn't have the heart to kill him, knowing the story of why he became a demon.
So Stain decides to stick around and help the hunters in the war against AFO.
Idk it's just a silly concept 😅
iii am horrible with colour theory so I can't even pick a fav filter 😅 HAVE THEM ALL:
For Stain I tried drawing thinner eyebrows and the hairstyle from mha but tied up in a low pony for a change 🤪 and I've been practicing drawing All Might more boisterous for the next story and I think I'm getting there

It's still the 14th where I live, I'm glad I made it
All Might sent Stain to train with Gran Torino and he came back eager to share his new wrestling technique🤪

Hi, I hope this message finds you well. First of all, I'm not here to police what you create and makes you happy. Finding joy in what you make should be always prioritized! That said, I've noticed how harshly you criticize Vigilantes, claiming that it isn't canon. You frequently mention panels from "My Hero Academia: Smash!!" when discussing Stain's background, which is a parody of the main series and thus not canon. On the other hand, there is plenty of evidence that Horikoshi considers Vigilantes canon (e.g. BNHA Volume 13 Omake about the spin-offs, how he was consulted by Betten and Furuhashi, and how he showed them spoilers from the main series to help them out). I'm not here to tell you that you should love Vigilantes and that canonicity is superior by default. You have every right to dislike it and create your own headcanons, but you should show a little more respect for Betten and Furuhashi's work. They didn't reduce Stain to a "punching ball" for their OCs, and "Stendhal" is a fitting (and clever) Vigilante name, given that "Akaguro" contains the kanji for "red" and "black". Lastly, keep up the good work. You're a great artist with a great art style, and getting upset over something you don't like is bad for you (speaking from personal experience).
Hi, the things I draw are fanart and I consider them just that, I never once seriously thought of my own stories or anything I've drawn as canon Stain. I criticize the author of Vigilantes harshly because he was supposed to write canon Stain and I don't think he handled the backstory well. I have already suggested changes to volume 2 (such as having the MCs interrupt him while he is targeting a hero, and having a more meaningful intense fight, Knuckleduster still being the cause of his lack of nose), that would have made the story better imo and more true to Stain's character. Horikoshi may have approved the overall concept of Vigilantes as canon but the Stendhal arc itself contradicts the panels from MHA volume 7 and the origin that Horikoshi repeated for Stain in the Final MHA Fanbook so can we at least agree that there is an inconsistency due to the two authors having entirely different ideas for the character? In this case which one should be taken as canon? Of course, the idea of the original creator, as Stain is his original character. I respect Betten's art and Furuhashi's concept of the Vigilantes manga as a whole. I still think Stain never actually had a Stendhal phase, he was Chizome, and then he was Stain. His ideology was not a result from the duel with Knuckleduster and there's evidence from Horikoshi that backs my opinion.
I can send you the 2 translated pages dedicated to Stain in the final fanbook Horikoshi released if you DM me. There is no mention of Stendhal in it, if anything it contradicts Stendhal's existence because it states Chizome developped his Hero Killer ideology around the time he dropped out of school, and saw that a peaceful public speech is not enough to get people to hear him out.

All Might lets a cute fanboy abduct him "Am I... getting lucky tonight ///?" Accidental love story betwen the number one hero and a rookie v
Horikoshi didn't say anything new about Stain in the extra Q&A book that came out this month. He did, however, repeat Stain's true origin story, which contradicts Stendhal's existence. Stain held his beliefs about heroes ever since his time in school when his ideals of heroism conflated with the reality around him. Why would a guy so focused on fixing what's wrong with heroes go around targeting random villains instead of the people he is truly mad about: fake heroes. Until someone punches him in the face, makes no sense.
And to the Stendhal fans, I am not saying you can't enjoy him as a character, heck he would have been a cool character on his own. I love his design and use it myself when drawing younger Stain. All I'm saying is that in the way he is written, he is not Stain. Stendhal changed his whole worldview from purging villains in the name of self-proclaimed justice, to purging heroes after a single conversation and punch from the main character Knuckleduster. Let's not pretend that Stain's ideology that made people fall on their knees in fear, is a consequence of such an insignificant fight. 🙏
Edit: Having spoken with a few people who like the Stendhal arc, it seems that they think it makes sense for Chizome to target villains exclusively in the beginning because he looks down on heroes since his time in hero school. Essentially, that his thought process as Stendhal was "since heroes can't do shit, I will" and so he went on to kill villains in the name of justice. This logic is flawed because it requires the assumption that Chizome has an issue with how heroes deal with crime. Wouldn't he then also think All Might is useless because he doesn't kill the criminals he catches? The real problem Chizome has with heroes is that they dont do it for the right reasons, he thinks they should be selfless and not work for money and fame. The reason the street speeches on true heroism Chizome did were mentioned by Horikoshi in Volume 7 was to imply that he tried a peaceful route to get his opinion heard, but nobody listened, and that's when he realized actions will speak louder and trained to kill heroes. Stain does say that villains are a part of his purge but you can see from his attitude to Shigaraki that they are more of a side quest for him, he will kill them if he comes across them and deems them dangerous but might also let them live if their objectives allign, his main focus has always been heroes.
Stendhal doesn't develop the Hero Killer ideology until Knuckleduster criticized him and beat him up. So if he hadn't met Knuckleduster that night, would he never have become Stain? I find Furuhashi's approach disrespectful, because he reduced the character to someone who decided to target heroes in the spur of the moment after a fight instead of someone who (like All Might) worked towards his ideals consistently for more than a decade. Stain is an important character who drove the plot of mha with his actions. He deserves an origin separate from the actions of someone elses OCs, and that's exactly what Horikoshi gave him. I personally will go by the source material, but if you like the Stendhal origin, you do you.
I was hoping MHA Vigilantes Episode 5 and 6 would address the inconsistency with the writing of Stain (I refuse to call him Stendhal unless it's for tagging purposes, it's not a name he would pick for himself it's the name of the author of the book "The Red and the Black" which doesn't contain any themes relevant to the character). Stendhal is the result of Mr. Furuhashi taking a puzzle piece from someone elses puzzle, and instead of crafting his own puzzle around it so that it fits, he tried to force the piece into his own narrative. It didn't do the story any good. The fight would have been way more high stakes and meaningful if Furuhashi had his main characters interrupt Stain while he's attacking a hero, maybe his first target. Knuckleduster could have still been the cause of his lack of nose, but don't try to sell me the idea that Stain's ideology and conviction that brought people to their knees in fear, resulted from a silly inconsequential duel with Knuckleduster. I love the design and the work of the animation team, but the writing in Volume 2 of Vigilantes did not do Stain justice.
Edit: Having spoken with a few people who like the Stendhal arc who disagree with my take on Stendhal, they think that it makes sense for Chizome to target villains exclusively in the beginning because he looks down on heroes since his time in hero school. Hi❤️your support means a lot to me
... can't believe this is the first one I finished I'm so unserious🤣 I had a lot of fun making it tho. The idea was sparked by a video by a gymbro I follow on instagram who also used the weight bar as a pole. It made me think about Stain and All Might training together so I drew this silly story. Hope you like it if you decide to give it a read.
The only flaw of the Stendhal design is the mask. In a fight where every second matters, noone would wait for him to take the mask off so he can neutralize his opponent. And if the point is to hide his tongue,it's not the best solution either since he lifts the mask up to lick blood anyway. That's why an oni mask with a hole for his tongue like @may-we-rest-well suggested works best. I'm not set on the design of it yet though. I also practiced some dynamic poses. >♡< Isn't he pretty?
