Podcast work

Naming our podcast group

We went with the spider man theme again that we did for the dubbing session because of the lore it went through .

During group call we came up with some names related to spiderman and ended up with Peter parkers peppered podcast

the group chat was not professional enuf to add a screenshot tho.

Designing a cover for the podcast

We all made our own covers using the elements used for the name of the podcast jus to save enuf time , then sent it to the group to check which one would be more accurate .

this one was done by Minuthi ( sketch )

in here its spiderman yapping with a pickle designed on a green screen , and his design is a bit Indian theme as during the dubbing session we had to dub using an Indian accent , it was quite a journey . and on top its the color palette

we were tasked to voice act the above tongue twister using an Indian accent

it was pretty hard as we cant actually bring our the Indian accent as we are Sinhalese and our accent is taking over every time we speak.

so we thought of going along with the spiderman ATSV Indian theme but again it was sort of hard

our whole session was involved with our spider man plushie

the theme was getting the hot tea

the lore behind this is that we changed the whole tongue twister into Peter Parker coz cain bought a Spiderman plushie and the plushie was the main prop for our whole acting session.

so basically what we acted our was

ROUGH PODCAST SCRIPT - Academic Industry

Drafting our script, we followed our lecturer Ms. Tharangi Jayasekara’s lesson on the suggested structure for a podcast script, which contains the following elements in that order:

Introduction: A brief explanation of the podcast’s premise, as well as an overview of the episode through headings and topic statements.

Body: The main content of the podcast as well as possible intermissions and sponsorships. This part ideally has a set structure that prevents the conversation from being derailed.

Conclusion: A brief summary of the episode, as well as thanking any guests and sponsors and bidding the audience goodbye.

Private universities come in all shapes and sizes. Some are small and focus on certain subjects, while others are big and offer lots of different programs.

One cool thing about private universities is that they get to make their own rules and decisions. They're not controlled by the government, so they can do things their own way.

What the education system based on.

Graduation is not solely dependent on the final exam, or the diploma its all the stuff you did throughout the year 70% is the course work 30% is the final exam diploma , if you mess up the diploma exam but still have great attendance and 70% of your coursework done , you are set to graduate

2. Some lack of facilities you find in ur university in comparison to your school

There's a limit for some classes , they don't take more people in if it exceeds the limit which feels weird as in school there's no such thing as a limit , you are always welcomed to join extra classes which interests you , and it's better if they dont add a limitation like that .

3. How does the academic workload and expectations differ between high school and university?

Assignment marks are important as it added up to the final submissions which is needed for the degree but in hs assignment marks wont matter

4. What is the bond between the lecturers and the students be like in comparison to the bond between a teacher and the student in school

The lecturers really don't care about the reasonings why the student is absent or not performing well in classes meanwhile the teachers are actually invested

what is plagiarism ?

the Oxford dictionary defines plagiarism as “Presenting work or ideas from another source as your own, with or without consent of the original author, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement."

how to avoid plagiarism?

There are many reasons to avoid plagiarism. You have come to university to learn to know and speak your own mind, not merely to reproduce the opinions of others - at least not without attribution. At first it may seem very difficult to develop your own views, and you will probably find yourself paraphrasing the writings of others as you attempt to understand and assimilate their arguments. However it is important that you learn to develop your own voice. You are not necessarily expected to become an original thinker, but you are expected to be an independent one - by learning to assess critically the work of others, weigh up differing arguments and draw your own conclusions. Students who plagiarise undermine the ethos of academic scholarship while avoiding an essential part of the learning process.

major techniques we use in life to avoid plagiarism

using references, summarising , direct quotes with citations , paraphrasing

paraphrasing means reading an article and rewriting the article in your own words

summarising means taking out unnecessary words and taking in the main point of the story

direct quotes with citations means taking something exactly from somewhere and adding quotations to show its adapted from someone else's work

1. What academic challenges have you faced this year?

- Adapting to the new environment and the educational system of Aod

- Not getting necessary information at the right time, which made it hard to navigate the experience

- Teams and Gmail wasn’t set up properly

- Lack of a proper brief/overview of the modules and syllabus, unlike the one given at the start of design foundation.

- Issues with student support

2. ⁠In what ways do you expect university to be different from school/college and what challenges is it likely to offer?

- more creative freedom, less constricting rules

- The workspace is amazing for the students

3. Reflecting on your experience this week:

- Write down 3 things you feel went well.

We had a presentation about the parley ocean clean up where we had to come up with our own idea to spread awareness about sea pollution which is the final project for portfolio.

We also learned about the 12 principles in animations and along with the fundamentals of film making

- Write down 1 thing you feel you'd like to have been better

The PCs provided for the MGA students arent enough . It would be better if they gave the students a stronger wifi too
