the game was a submission to the O2A2 jam, which means i was under very strict restrictions while creating it :( in order to honour its place in the jam, i will not be adding anymore content to the base game. however, i am planning to create a sequel for it!

"Is it okay to yumeship with [X Character]?"

yes! i would be very honoured if you did!!! please do show me any content you create for them <3 i would love to see it!

"Will there be a [X Language] translation?"

the only plausible languages i could provide the games with myself are chinese and english! i wouldn't mind contacting someone to do another language translation for the game, but it is currently not a priority for me right now ^^;

i am currently focusing on YOH! the first update should be released before the end of august, with two subsequent updates that complete the game (these should take about a month each, but ideally less!)

after that, i'll be focusing entirely on the EMH sequel!

ik you said it's not really possible for a happy ending with cae forever, but how far does that go? will it like always result in one/both of them dying in some gruesome way or will one of them just be unhappy forever?

i won't go into major detail in order to not spoil any endings to the sequel, but pretty much ^^;

there's not really anywhere the relationship can go when cae is obsessing over MC's every single thought. at some point, nothing is good enough for him and something would need to happen in order to break the stalemate.

he likes photography, as described in this post! even though he's not able to dedicate a lot of time to it, he still really enjoys the hobby a lot. it was just something he picked up for fun over a summer break, but he ended up really falling in love with the craft. it's a nice de-stresser for him when life gets overwhelming ^^

the stay-at-home festival... so labour day? LOL he's overworked and underpaid T__T go easy on him

i could see him going into academia or consulting! being a courier is just a temporary thing :) he's majoring in earth science, so something related to that area. i do think he would enjoy being a professor over being an environmental consultant though! he's very good at teaching others and puts a lot of time and effort into his work. side note: the criteria for him going into these jobs isn't him being "normal" ^^; he'd have to find a job eventually, regardless of whether or not MC exists

he likes winter! the cold is much easier for him to manage than the heat

self-righteousness? people who display this quality in front of him frequently would be one of the few personalities he finds himself struggling to be amicable with

if it's something silly, he'd let it go and wait for MC to tell him what it is. if it's something serious, he'd force MC to tell him ^^; (for example, if he's dating MC and MC's hiding the fact that they want to break up, he'd continue to pressure them until they break and tell him. this is one of the scenarios in which he disregards boundaries and focuses entirely on getting the truth)

it depends how serious the bullying is! if it's not seriously affecting MC and they're just a little upset over it, he'd continue to let it happen for a while so he could be the one to swoop in and comfort them. if it's seriously affecting MC, he'd probably just kill whoever's bullying them ^^; if the MC is bullying anyone, he doesn't really care. it doesn't have anything to do with him or their relationship, so he has no reason to step in.

of course! he's fine with MC taking his ribbon out.

he likes it! he would use that trait to his advantage and capitalize on it to emotionally manipulate MC. if MC's putting up internal resistance to him, he might be a little meaner or distant in order to guilt trip them.

so i was wondering!! what if cae were to kidnap mc after the visual novel ends, and mc leaned more into a fight response compared to the other fawn/freeze/etc. how would that go? and what if after the kidnapping, mc refused to like eat or drink anything that cae tries to give them?

if MC refuses to love cae back and is constantly fighting back against him, it will lead to the same ending with cae that basically all other routes will lead to. MC getting violent with him might wear him down quicker, but this is not an exclusive reaction ^^; there is no good ending for cae and MC. the reasoning behind it is described more in this post, but essentially, cae would be able to realize that he is the cause for MC's pain and grief and would take action against himself and their relationship.

i highly recommend you read these posts ^^ they're not describing the exact same scenario, but it all ends up at the same crossroad for cae MC dying (in this case, refusing to eat/drink and dying of starvation or dehydration) fight/flight/freeze/fawn reactions

i think he's an INFJ! cae might try to intentionally come off as someone who is much kinder and more well-meaning than he actually is, but at the end of the day, he is still very intelligent and perceiving! even if he isn't wholly authentic with his actions or words, he does still sacrifice a lot of himself in order to help others :)

if cae was sleeping in the same room as MC, he'd much rather talk to them than just watch them — even if that means wrecking both of their sleep schedules HAHAH

he'll follow MC around if he has time, but these occasions are few and far between. these are also often conflicting criteria for him :") MC is usually not doing anything interesting when he's free (well past midnight) or he's much too tired to follow them around. he keeps himself very busy with a bunch of different commitments during the day, leaving him with little to no time reserved specifically for MC.

he would rather be the one to spoil MC! he won't reject them if they do try to spoil him, but it can feel a little embarrassing to him at times ^^;

he wouldn't want any pets. there are a few he thinks look cute (sheep and pigs), but nothing beyond that.

jealous enough to kill someone? ^^; he's not the type to pout when he's /actually/ jealous though. if he's putting on a cute act, it's entirely intentional in order to get MC to feel sympathetic for him.

You mentioned in a post that Cae is “not free of disabilities or conditions” himself, so could I ask what these are? 👀 As a disabled girlie myself, seeing rep in VNs is always such a treat! Ty!!

i won't give him any mental diagnoses, but he has asthma and is also visually impaired (if you count those as disabilities!)

he's had asthma from a young age — it manifested early in his life (elementary school age) and he's always had to deal with it since then. he does have very serious flare-ups at times (especially when he's moving around for a majority of the day), but these go away relatively quickly. he doesn't go around telling people he has asthma, but they are usually able to intuit the fact themselves. he's not the type to try to hide an inhaler or anything!

as for being visually impaired — he's entirely blind in his left eye! i won't get into how it happened yet, but he can't see out of it at all. it does affect his life pretty heavily, but he's grown to get used to it. there's not a super easy way to hide it, so he doesn't. he covers up his eye with his bangs and is honest when people ask him about it.

he doesn't try to hide his disabilities out of shame or embarrassment — he just doesn't believe they are an integral part of his character and thus does not place much weight in displaying them.

What is Cae’s absolute favorite post-vulnerability comfort treat or routine? (e.g., wrapped in a heavy blanket, warm tea, MC running fingers through his hair?)

SORRY FOR THE SIMILAR QUESTIONS HAHA, i got interested at the topic of him being vulnerable and defenseless ;3 (i need more fanfics of him)

he is very good at conducting himself in unfamiliar and stressful situations! he's really used to being placed in high stress environments and is very capable of keeping up with other people in the same area! what causes him to lose a lot of that rationality is facing unfamiliar /emotions/ (intense jealousy, anger, etc.) he's very bad at regulating these sorts of emotions. the inciting criteria can also vary from time to time: sometimes it takes months worth of build-up in order to get him upset to such a degree, and other times (usually when it pertains to MC), it can be extremely small things that rub him the wrong way and cause him to last out.

it depends on the intensity! if it's just small anxieties (worrying about something that might happen, something minor not going his way, etc.), he would go quiet and quickly try to think of a way he can improve the situation. he does not like receiving feedback or help from other people in these moments, but he wouldn't go out of his way to get upset at them if they did. if it's something that he's hysterical over, then he can get very angry. violence is his most visceral instinct and is what he defaults to when he is much too overwhelmed and lost. EMH was an example of this — he has always been extremely put-off by MC's coworker and only tolerated it up until he couldn't.

his ideal is that MC never gets to see that side of him ^^; he hates the feeling of being so vulnerable in front of MC and worries that it makes him weak. but he would also unconsciously grow to feel more comfortable with MC as a result of it — so there's upsides and downsides to it!

probably a moment of silence away from the world! he needs the space to recuperate and recharge HAHAH but this isn't usually possible, so he'll settle for a hug from MC :)

i'm going to preface this post with a gentle reminder that cae is /not/ a good person and cae as a character is supposed to lean further into the horror elements of a yandere over the romantic ones!

all of the situations you describe would eventually lead to this post! he /himself/ might like it more if MC is kinder to him — this might even lead to him liking MC "more," but this relationship is not sustainable for either of them. it doesn't really matter how MC comes to like cae or how they treat him after they enter a relationship.

the worst MC for cae would be one that loves and enables cae. the best MC for cae... would be an MC that doesn't exist ^^; it's not really possible for cae and MC to end up happy together without one of them sacrificing way too much for a relationship that is held together by some scotch tape and a dream 😭😭
