When voting for even more tolls for Staten Islanders and Brooklynites in 2008, my ultra-liberal opponent had the audacity to say: 

"All my constituents who may think that this is not the right vote....this IS the right vote!"

Going against the will of the people to support a terrible policy? My opponent did the same thing when he voted himself a third term as a Brooklyn Councilman against the people's will. Sorry Dom, but we already pay an arm and a leg in tolls as it is, and creating new tolls to fill the City's coffers is not the answer! A vote for my opponent is a vote for more tolls and higher taxes, and I firmly believe that the hardworking, middle class families in Staten Island and Brooklyn deserve better than to be nickle-and-dimed by a tax and spend de Blasio puppet.

Before my opponent's Washington liberal pals attack your Congressman, they should take a look at their candidate who funneled hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars during his time as an ultra-liberal Brooklyn City Councilman to shady "charities" that are under state investigation for hoarding money meant for child education, after-school programs, and support services for seniors.

The Mayor needs to consider that a bridge closure will potentially put our entire borough in jeopardy. Aside from the obvious traffic problems a closure would cause, there are major underlying safety and security risks posed as well. In a letter sent to his office yesterday, I urge him to weigh these potential risks and not grant the permits necessary to shut down the Verrazano Bridge. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech and expression, but not at the cost of potentially endangering almost 500,000 Staten Island residents.

This morning I met with members of Truck 81 and Ladder 161 in South Beach who responded to a fire in Rosebank where they rescued the parents of two children. The parents are recuperating in the hospital and a full recovery is expected. God Bless the FDNY #newyorksbravest

Had the pleasure of stopping by the Fifth Avenue Street Fair in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn this past weekend. The music, games, food and of course the people, make this event something I look forward to attending each year.

Bob and Jani Bergdahl will soon have their son back after his spending five years in captivity in Afghanistan.  We celebrate with you in the return of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, and thank you for all you have done for our country.

Visited the Great Kills Marina this week, which had boats in the slips and people gearing up for the season. It was a long hard fight to get the marina repaired, and is a testament to the resolve of #statenislanders dedicated to#gettingthingsdone
