“ P-Please don’t, “ comes the immediate response – full knowing the Vandal was merely replicating the humor, puppy dog struck plea twitching across her face. The mere idea of being injected with raw Ether, it made her skin crawl. Wonders of what sort of side effects, or whether it was even physically possible given their Guardian-esq bodies. Would she grow an extra pair of arms like the Eliksni? Would she feel… energized?
Honestly, the more she thought about it…
– a single nod is given in further response to his care, the idea vanishing completely and was once more replaced with self control of remaining still as he worked at her arm. Cheap hiss and gritting teeth as pressure was applied to the wound – it wasn’t no surprise when you thought about it, those who took the easy way out.
“ ‘Jus needed it to last me the rest of the trip back, “ the Hunter spoke, the chilling effect of soothing cloth restoring some sort of comfort back into her shoulder. “ Was a lot of blood… didn’t want to risk Data being left alone for some ant to pluck him.
I hope I didn’t make a mess of the place. “
“Here I thought a Guardian would want a third arm.” Another joke, this time in lower volume as he focused on her wound.
Once it was patched up and ready, his eyes observed her shoulder for a good moment, making sure he wasn’t missing anything, before he leaned back, rolling his shoulders as he tried to stand a bit more comfortable.
“Data can handle an ant or two.” But three? Difficult. He turned around, looking at some of the blood stains, not an odd sight to him, at all, he’d spilled blood in his ship a few times as well, nothing he couldn’t clean, yet he’d have to scavenge for more unused clothes to use for cleaning.
“It’s fine, it’s been worse.” He reassured her, looking back at her. “How did you get wounded like this?” Curious, he asked, regardless on how she got injured, he was glad that she at least was safe, that nothing fot her little light and subsequently her.
datarevived:
His scolding is met with a familiar grin, the Hunter giving an accepting nod over words. For someone who spent his time in the tree line, he really did know how to weave advice when it was necessary. Each and every time, Selene taking it to heart and keeping promise to learn for the better.
After all, Suroks hadn’t been wrong yet.
“ I think we’re getting there, “ she agrees – topic swerving back toward the opportunity of peace between humanity and Eliksni. “ If it’s true, and many of the Eliksni that left Europa led to Mithrax… I feel like we’re closer than ever to getting some sort of treaty with the Vanguard. There’d be no reason not to. “
Despite what she personally felt toward the Vanguard, if it meant a peace treaty could be involved and Earth to co-exist after exterminating the remainder of the Hive… really, it’d be a new dawning to a new age unlike anything ever seen before. One she wishes to bare fruit - witness and preserve. A light in the dark, they say – crossing ones’ fingers for better ‘morrow.
As for her team…
“ I appreciate it, “ Selene smiles sincere, uncrossing her legs now before standing up on top of the ship. “ And I’ll let the other two know there is space available should they need to clear their heads. Though it seems Rin has taken an affinity with Europa ever since we set foot there… “
It felt like they were being pulled apart, in some way.
“ …Hey, Suroks? “ question is pinned to the air for a moment as she drops down back to the forest floor. An exchange of perspective as she tilts her head up now, looking back at the vandal. “ Have you ever spoken to the Light or Darkness? “
“It’ll still be hard, Eliksni still have grudges against humanity, and humans do against us as well, but it’s a step at least.” He let out a small huff, a sigh, he knew that even if Eliksni were introduced into human society, it’d take a while for there to not be any sort of discrimination, after all they were indeed aliens to Humans, and they were indeed invading Earth, as much as he’d like for there to be absolute peace, he was ready for the worst, as always.
He nodded, hoping that Rin would not have any sort of unhealthy obsession, truly, Suroks did not know exactly what lay in Europa, but extreme fascination could lead to rather dangerous behaviors, were he to have his old beliefs, he’d pray to the Great Machine for the Guardian to be safe.
Her question caught him of guard, and it took him a moment to think about it. “I hear stories of people speaking to and for the Great Machine, but I’ve never believed them.” He mused, two of his arms folding in front of him. “If they speak, they have not deemed me worthy, no.” He shook his head, he was fine like that, he did not need interaction with any of these two powerful forces, if them contacting others was indeed something that happened.
“Have they spoken to you?”

Smiling softly, Moon sat down next to the Eliksni, one hand loosely closed around some sort of candy, wrapped in shiny paper, and offered it to the other. "I'm not sure what those are, but I got them for helping with a delivery, and they said 'Happy Dawning' whatever that means... They taste really sweet."
A gentle purr escaped the Eliksni’s throat as he looked at the candy, nodding as he took it, followed with a ‘thank you’, he gave it a good look. “Dawning, some Guardian celebration, I’ve seen decorations but I don’t really know what it is.” He admitted as he removed his mask, secondary pair of arms unwrapping the candy to try it out.
As he popped it in his mouth, he gave it a moment, then nodded once more. “It is very sweet, it’s nice, I think.” Perhaps used to sugar, considering he was a big fan of sugar cubes.
After a few moments, he put his mask back on. “Seems Guardians have many celebrations, you should perhaps talk to people about them, they seem very fun, from what I noticed.”
[[ suroks has probably seen plenty of guardians with really tiny sparrows, he doesn't know why they're so small, but he finds em very amusing ]]

She had never been the type to cut it dry - a technique used by some Guardians to point of which injury surpassed the thought process of just offing ones’ self and being brought anew at the cost of their Ghost’s energy for the day. Considerably taking their form for granted, she had endowed many injuries in common medicine and rest, some to which couldn’t be helped in resulted matters. But never once had she partaken in non-human medicines.
Not til now, at least.
A run in with a band of Cabal who unfortunately doubled in numbers the moment she blinked out near the Hades point in the EDZ. A shorten recon mission to by pass the time and assist good ol’ Kay in the down time, ending shortly in the execution of rhino-pests. A few cut and bruises, nothing too dire – until she had noticed the sudden limpness in her left arm and gash to follow. No recollection of how or when it occurred – adrenaline being her blindside and retreating to the forest her sanctum.
Muscle memory would lead her back to a familiar ship, a required rest before making the track all the way back to the Tower.
The ointment triggering a burning hiss and waggle of the arm upon application – like a child getting a shot she emits a curse beneath her breath and a yank of the arm away from assistance. It stings to the touch – not quite like fire, but a consistent nudging that pulls at her skin. None to blame against the Vandal in company, but man did it not feel great.
“ You sure you’re not just throwing raw Ether into it? “ she half-jokes, face squinted in discomfort as she turns half-lidded. Her right hand is clamped against her left wrist, attempting to subdue the immediate urge to further flail. “ It really hurts… “
A series of focused clicks escaped from the Eliksni’s throat, sure, he knew how to treat some wounds here and there, most of it was to clean it up, stop bleeding and if possible apply something to soothe, he was no doctor, so he did not even attempt something as complex as sutures, much less on someone whose skin worked much, much more differently.
“Maybe if I put Ether into it you will grow a new arm.” He joked in return, one of his hands firmly holding her arm, applying pressure, stop the bleeding, as much as he would’ve liked to not hold her painfully tight, it was best while he cleaned and patched her up.
The Eliksni huffed, eyes squinting as he examined the wound, carefully he applied ointment, it wasn’t what he was used to, but he had to make do with what Erath offered him, it wasn’t as if House Light had medical kits ready for them to use on guardians of all things. “It’s going to hurt now, but it’ll help with healing.” He reassured her, his eyes met with hers for a moment, he gave her a calm nod before his focus went back to her injury.
“I don’t dare help close it, I don’t have the tools, nor the skill, and I don’t want to play around with fire just to close this.” After all, the Tower would probably assist her better with it. “Just a little more.” As he reached for a freshly washed piece of cloth, he wrapped it around her arm, not only putting some pressure, but also covering the wound, then another piece of cloth on top, first aid was strange to him, after all, he was used to repairing guns, ships, pikes, not people.
“You should check with a proper, human, doctor.” He advised. “There’s not much more I can do with my knowledge of Human body and the lack of resources out here.”

They certainly were quite the species, weren’t they?
Of what little she knew of humanity’s history before the Traveler, most coming in books and lectures rather than raw evidence. Not that Earth was empty of such treasures - much still laid waste, spread far and thin throughout the remains of what Darkness left during it’s first collapse. But Selene, herself - was still young. Still learning. Many a decade into centuries future to learn about the past, present, and presumable future - so long as she played her cards right.
Which brought an off-topic inquiry to her consciousness -
The life-span of the Eliksni.
How many years Suroks held under his belt, and how many more, roughly, would he continue to be set by her side. The thought causes a glance over, stare depraved of curiosity before she shakes the spiral from mind. It was her first time back in some while – she’d save the dreary topics for another day.
“ Caught? Naaah~ “ she grins, waving a wrist confidently. “ Angry as they may be, they walk like totem poles. Easy to dodge - just, a bit of a pain to pass by if they’re in the way. “
And boy, were they always in the way.
“ Honestly… it’s not just the sound of it, “ the Awoken admits to second statement. Everything that had been happening these past few months – really, it was a dash in to try not to slip over ones’ own feet at this rate. New information coming in the span of hours. A bi-polar meter of risen panic and fluttered sighs of relief depending on the outcome. “ Sometimes I have to remind myself to breathe here and there.. b-but we’re making it through. We’re finding new ways each and every time to make positive of things. Even if some aren’t that… positive. “
Talk about having your hands full.
Her stare did not go unnoticed, and like many of her side thoughts, Suroks wondered just what went through her mind, polite he was however, and would not inquire, if she had a question that burned her up from the inside, she’ll ask, same if she had anything to say really.
“Cocky.” He slowly points at her, before letting his hand fall down to his side, an amused purr escaped him, honestly, what else could he expect from a Guardian? “Slow usually hits harder, just be careful.” Regardless of his words, he knew she would take care, and if not, her team would help her out.
The Eliksni squinted as his focus went to the shard she’d handed him, two fingers gently holding it carefully, every now and then giving it a small shake, what a curious little thing this was. His focus soon went towards Selene, however, his head tilting.
“Guardians almost always make it through, you all have that perseverance, and most of you are united, it makes things easier.” Of course, rogue Guardians did exist, Lights that did not follow their Vanguard’s rules, but they were few. “Eliksni are very fragmented, it’s why we can’t keep going the way you Lights do, but I do have hope that Guardians will help us with that, somehow.” After all, they did seem to be changing their opinions about Eliksni, especially with the House of Light being an ally of theirs.
“If you and your team need a break, you can always come here, It’s not the same as your City, but it’s an invitation, regardless.”

A good amount was putting it nicely.
For what goals the Bray family had for Europa, turning the place into a new colonization, the planet was practically a graveyard for the old tech. Some, still surprisingly active from what she noticed, while others seemed to be stripped and recycled into Fallen-forged replicas.
She remembers the sight briefly, for what little she and Bex poked their heads into the doorway of one of the old Braytech labs. Familiar security in Eliksni-forged trip-wires and mines that loitered the halls. Really, the entire planet just seemed over-run at this point.
“ There’s definitely a lot of old tech. Even some that looks… beyond the stuff we even have at the city, honestly, ” she waves a hand, motioning a wonder. “ Rumors are saying that there’s something bigger underneath. But I can only imagine what sort of stuff happened when humanity still lived up there. The place is massive. ”
Exo production aside, all of the safehouses and shelters all seemed to be branded by the Bray’s logo, too. Documents slowly coming into play as hacking enthusiast worked their magic. More and more secrets coming to light by word of mouth - what was to trust and what was to question, she didn’t even know where to start.
“ That’s been about the jist of it, though, ” the Awoken exhales, tilting her head to the side a moment as she stared at the Eliksni. “ Big, lotta tech, very cold… and robots. ”
Right. She didn’t mention the Briggs.
“ Very angry robots. ”
Suroks gave a nod, the idea of a treasure cove of Golden Age technology, things that go further from what he’d seen on Earth, or what Eliksni have produced, it made him want to tinker with it, learn more of it, especially after spending so long on a place with little research material, but he would not risk his life at the frozen Moon, much less when Eliksni seemed to be escaping it.
“Humanity has made some incredible things throughout centuries I’ve noticed.” The Fallen clicked his tongue, thinking. “I remember Venus had a lot of very interesting things, I liked it back there. I can only imagine how Europa is, from your description.” Human ambition was quite powerful after all, and while it did not dwarf Eliksni’s, it was still impressive, a sight to behold.
“Very angry robots...?” He paused, then huffed, amused. “Try to not get caught by these angry robots.” Next thing he knew she’d come explaining how a robot trampled her cape, he could only imagine. “It all sounds very overwhelming, anyways, and I’m guessing Guardians are finding more and more each day?”

A shorten giggle escapes her lips at the comparison of seeds and wheat, the mental picture of a bowl of flower seeds for breakfast enough to confuse her tastebuds physically. She can feel the back of her teeth wince, mentally biting down into a mouthful of splintered shells and nuts. It’s certainly not sweet – perhaps a bit more on the salty side. But more importantly, it’s flavor is immensely floral.
“ I suppose they can be, if added with the right ingredients, ” she laughs. “ What was it again… th’ little motto… sweet and savory? It’s a minor infatuation humans have with combining unlikely flavors to offset the taste buds, ” her hands twist against the leather of boots as she shifts. “ Not quite like cereal though. ”
A motion is made in effort to extend the sliver to Suroks, in the mean time words weaving into the air between them.
“ There’s a lot more than we expected, really, ” she starts, leaning back into place as she boasted her chest in a spinal stretch. “ I hadn’t been aware that it was where Braytech started - the place where Exo’s were made. It’s left Bex seeming a little strange of late… ” her voice trails off for a moment, eyes glancing down toward the forest floor. “ - Then there’s the Pyramids. They’re there, too. And apparently making deals with Guardians brave enough to try. The Vanguard have the site on lock down, though, it’s not really saying a lot… given, whose watching over the place. ”
She knew little of Eris and the Drifter personally, given her few meet ups with the infamous duo. The ghostless Hunter being named as one of the strongest Hunter’s alive on pure ambition, while the Drifter… well. It seemed just about everyone knew the name, yet no one quite seemed to know the man behind it.
Then there was … her.
A female Exo which Selene knew not the first thing of, only what Valdourin had shared during their expeditions. A woman who seem to only show up when served most convenient for her own gain. But what did that have to do with the Darkness…?
It made the Awoken uncomfortable, to say the least.
The entire planet did - for that matter.
“ The place is full of Fallen, ” she continues after a pause, turning her chin upward. “ And snow. Lotta’ snow - ”
“ It is very cold there, ” Data chimed.
“ Incredibly, ” Selene chuckles, turning her head and lifting a hand for her ghost to hover towards. “ The Eliksni there have much thicker coats there than Earth. And wear lighter colors, too. I’m unsure if any have made it here yet, but imagine a Captain - right? With a white mane cloak. It’s wild. ”
“Hmm... I’ll have to try them, then.” He mused, not really knowing what to expect, at least they didn’t require chewing, knowing that they’d get stuck between his teeth for sure. “I don’t know how I would handle flavors like that, since I’m used to just... Sugar cubes, or what you’ve gotten me.” He admitted, he believed that a mix of flavors would just not sit well with him.
“Sounds like it has a good amount of Golden Age technology.” It caught his eye, and while it made him want to go there, he’d rather not risk his safety, he was able to fight, yes, but unlike a Guardian, he would not come back to life, he’d rather stay with a boring lifestyle.
Cold... That reminded him, with leaves falling, winter was approaching, weather was going to get colder and colder on Earth, not something extreme, like he imagined for Europa, but perhaps he’d have to get some more cloaking for himself, or something to warm up his ship. He clicked in thought as he nodded.
“I can imagine it, yes, thicker coating and snow sounds like it’d make mobility very difficult, they must be very resilient.” He wouldn’t be able to handle it, at least. “I may have seen one of two, if they escaped Europa to come here, but not really up close, I just do my business and come back.” Suroks explained, giving her a short shrug.
datarevived:
Words spoke over the sounds of jingling nuts and bolts, things often brought back to the mechanic for spare parts. Though it seemed as if something else laid in wake of the bag, given how much she was struggling to find it.
“ Next time I’m in the city, I’ll snag you some samples. There’s a ton - sometimes with flavor. You wouldn’t really think it so, given how small they are, ” she continues, eyes digging through the sun-lit leather. Brows gradually pinching in a fit of irritation, her search getting nearer to the bottom. Muttered words, questioning the items’ whereabouts and threats if it had been left on the ship.
Data floats quietly in his space, flickering a light above his optic to act as a flashlight to assist. The very moment in which he peers at an angle, reflecting a distorted shimmer which erases all trace of pensive doubt across the Awoken’s face.
“ Ah –! ”
Taken between to fingers, she takes out a small crystal-like fragment. Like a cracked piece of glass, except with this one – shimmers of snow seemed encased for timeless preserve. Such tiny thing, expanding but three or four inches across.
“ I found this on Europa. I’m not entirely sure what it is… but, I figured maybe you’d find a use for it. Or at the very least, serve as a memento. I have one back on the ship – a bit bigger. It uh… Iwasgonnabringthewholethingbutitcrackedoffwhenidroppedit… “
“Flavored...” He repeated, slightly puzzled, he oftentimes forgot that the people of the City had a variety of flavors, everyone had some sort of different taste, to him, it was strange, but he understood, considering how they were raised. “Do they flavor them sweet? They seem more fit as a sweet snack, or closer to a... How do you call it...” He paused in thought for a moment, glancing off to the side, before back at Selene. “Ah, cereal.”
The Eliksni observed the display, some things just wouldn’t change, and that bag of hers always seemed like it had no end, always swallowing the one thing she wanted to take out, it was amusing, to some extent, it wasn’t harmful disorganization, after all.
The awoken’s quickly spoken statement made some quick, soft clicks escape from his throat in amusement. “That is alright.” He reassured, if he got a memento, so did she, that was perfectly fine to him, besides, she was the one risking her life all the way in Europa.
“I’ll give it a look, worst case scenario it’s a nice souvenir.” Suroks joked, he was grateful, nevertheless, that she considered him with her findings, and always seemed to bring something, a small of a gesture it was, he held it dear. “Have you learned anything new in Europa?” He decided to ask, his head cocking to the side. “I have never gone there, so I do not know how it even looks.”
datarevived:
Bringing a moment of relief – it was nice to hear that the Hive hadn’t reached the western side of things. Their activity last being documented as something nestling in the east, as if preparing for something nearby the Cosmodrone. It was still admittedly too close for comfort, practically being their back yard. But at least there was enough room in between to cut them before it became termites.
Or so they hope.
– Head lifts at audible concern, something that use to come in harsher manner. Trained ear to the Eliksni’s tone – they did not speak like humans did. Nor did they expression emotion the same. It had been in practice does she pick up on the faint differences when he spoke, and how his gestures displayed matters of interest. This one, bringing a slight color of pink to her cheeks.
“ When favored the time, we rest, ” she nods, granting him safe of mind that she wasn’t completely neglecting self-care. “ It’s just been a little less than usual lately. We’ll get there. ”
Though it pains her to speak only for herself in the matter. Her fireteam, not quite as much - sleeping far less, and dealing with far more. Battles she’d have to prep herself on before approaching head on. She wanted to help them - but first, she needed clarity for herself.
“ Ether is a limited source, though, isn’t it? ” the Hunter chimes, extending reach in the middle as she hands the bread over to the vandal. “ Have you tried flower seeds? They don’t require any chewing - y'just pop'em in your mouth, ” she explained, both verbally and physically as she pops her thumb from a gripped hand, directing her own mouth. All of this before digging back at her satchel - the clattering noises of loose metals already ringing from its’ contents.
“That is good, Guardians seem always involved in something, it’s tiring to think about.” It reminded him of his days on Venus, where he’d work tirelessly for his House, before it eventually succumbed to the Vex, in the long run, he knew the loss of his ship was for the best, he’d been safer than ever on Earth, and now with the increased numbers of House Light, Eliksni future seemed to have a chance.
“Ir depends on our Servitors, yes.” Unfortunate, he’d heard stories of Riis being plentiful on Ether, happier times, that’s for sure, he couldn’t even begin to imagine how life was before the Whirlwind, there were only tales and lullabies to give him some sort of idea.
“Seeds? I know some Eliksni like them, but I haven’t tried them myself, no.” It seemed like just some quick snack, if anything, for those that had now gotten used to sampling human food. Suroks, in particular was more used to just trying what Selene brought him, he’d never been disappointed or disgusted so far, but nothing was really an addition to his diet.
“People of the City eat seeds too? Doesn’t seem like it’d be good for their diet.”
datarevived:
“ The transmissions from the House of Salvation, ” Data confirms quietly, the ghost lowering himself just enough to be between both his guardian and the vandal. “ Apparently, this Eramis had been blinded by power of the Dark, just as she was trying to promote it to other Eliksni. ”
“ It seems she’s been put to rest by another group of Guardians, ” Selene nodded, a half-curious look upon her face. “ But with her gone, and the other Eliksni who didn’t agree with her, Variks has sent them here to Mithrax. He believes it’ll be a start to unionizing the Eliksni with the city - hopefully. ”
Both in name and vision she’d only heard from Suroks and Wipoks, before. Much to her amazement, she hadn’t expected the name or whereabouts to come from the previous warden. But at the call of help, and direction to ’ Missrax ’, it was enough for Selene to agree in helping in the cause. A shared future she’d wish long enough to to see for herself.
“ Aside from Hive movement… Earth has become the least hostile of everywhere, ” the Hunter explains, confirming Suroks’s narrative in just how empty the EDZ had been. “ The Moon is still… well. Definitely not ready for us to take you there, yet. And then Europa is a whole thing on its’ own. And the Shores… ”
She didn’t know much for now, a little further on her to-do list. But apparently, strange readings and appearances upon the Shore and Dreaming City were becoming common. All in which started back from the Moon.
A plague.
“ It’s… just nice to get out of it, if just for a bit, really. ”
A more somber expression pinched upon brows, unknowingly to her and clenched jaw at the thought. Her ghost floats a moment in distance, raising himself back into her view before scoping her back into the here and now.
“ I brought you some things, ” she smiles, sliding a satchel from being her cloak into her lap. The first item retrieved in it’s view, a plastic-wrapped loaf of grain wheat she had procured from the bazaar before her outing. “ It’s less sugary this time, ” she assures.
“House of Salvation...” He repeated, a confirmation he needed to himself, perhaps to translate the name to his own tongue. A nod was given, a silly name, he thought, what was Salvation to Eliksni but a dream many longed for? It’d surprise him if they could really reach such thing, but considering that the Kell was put down already, their so called ‘salvation’ was just words.
“It is a step, at least, the City still has distrust, I understand.” He nodded, eyes closing for a brief moment. “But if Guardians can at least trust us from House Light, things may be a little easier, for both sides.” He hoped, at least.
Suroks clicked softly in thought. “I have not seen Hive nearby, so at least they have not reached this area, it is safe here.” He had enough with Cabal, Taken and even other Eliksni such as himself, the last he needed was also Hive corrupting and making nests, these beings were stubborn, as well.
“Take breaks, Selene, they help in the long run.” He pointed out, letting his arms fall to his sides. “I don’t know what you are fighting out there, but a rested mind will keep you and your team collected.” Stress induced panic could be a thing, after all.
Suroks observed her as her expression changed, something he knew she did every now and then, almost like a small mood dip before something took her out of it, and something he never interrupted, after all, questioning about the smallest quirks on someone’s behavior was not only rude, but also a waste of time.
As she pulled out the loaf, he stretched one arm out, so she wouldn’t need to get off her sitting spot or throw it at him. “People of the City have the most interesting foods, it’s strange to consume them, as someone who feeds from Ether only, they’re not bad, though.” It was something he still wanted to get accustomed to, as much as it really wasn’t a part of his diet.
