One last time
This is beautiful
I woke up thinking if donald will want to deport his fellow republican and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger because he is in fact an actual immigrant born outside USA (which is the reason he can’t run for president) and not a born citizen like most people he threatened to deport #doublestandards
So wait, what does this mean? Is there a chance it doesn’t have to be Trump?
Thoughts this November 9th
Today was a day of rage.
I usually refrain from posting anything political here. That’s what my other blog is for. And I think we all need to talk to someone and hug it out. But most of you are hurting. As am I.
Truly, deeply hurting in every crevice of your bodies, hoping to find out it was an elaborate prank, wake up from this fever dream, or find your way back from this parallel universe.
But that’s not the case today. Truth of the matter is, America DID elect a racist Velveeta homunculus to the highest office in the land and we will feel the blow back of this for years in our economy, decades in social progress, generations in our environment.
Let me tell you a story though. Sixteen years ago, George W. Bush became president. He was a big fake cowboy from Connecticut that choked on pretzels and middle America elected him because he seemed like a guy you’d want to have a beer with. A harmless guy on the outside.
But he was backed up and advised by the scariest, smartest brain trust of the Republican Party, the neo-cons, and their master plan called PNAC, the Project for a New American Century, that would turn America into a global empire. Then 9/11 happened. And we saw a scared country go mad, strip itself of rights, invade countries that had no business being invaded. And then Katrina happened. And then the economy tanked. And after that the emperor had no clothes.
It sounds awful and scary, but we survived.
Donald Trump has no such brain trust behind him. He has a few sycophants who are just as if not more incompetent than he is. And if Dick Cheney didn’t destroy the country, I assure you that whatever demons Trumps conjures up won’t either.
Economic forecasts show that we may be headed into another recession late next year. The blame will land squarely on Republican shoulders. And when 2018 rolls around, we’ll be ready and waiting for them at the polls.
Remember also that Donald Trump won an electoral majority. But not a popular majority. Over half this country still loves and supports you, and supports your race, your religion, your gender, your orientation. They voted against Trump, and against his hate.
Don’t forget that.
However, there are steps you should take to protect yourself just in case. First, if you have a vagina, go to your OB and get the Paraguard IUD implant. It lasts for 5 to 10 years. This might be your last chance under ACA to get one without the high associated cost. Second, apply for or renew your passport. If things go south quickly in this country, you want to have a legal way to get out. Third, ALWAYS expect the best, but prepare for the worst.
Remember: the long arc of history STILL bends toward justice. Don’t forget that.
We’ve been through worse. We can get through this. As long as we stick together and love one another.
Okay buckle your seatbelts, because I just learned of a potentially really awesome thing
It’s called the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) and it just might save America.
You see, the whole Electoral College system has gotten on people’s nerves over the years [citation needed/s], and some states have opted to allocate their Electoral votes to whoever wins the popular national vote, no matter what. The map of states that have signed that compact looks something like this:
All the green states are the ones have adopted the compact, and all the yellow states currently have the compact under review.
Furthermore, all the yellow states are states that Trump won. Turning those electoral votes over to Hillary, the winner of the popular vote, would give her the presidency.
Now the Electoral College apparently doesn’t actually cast their votes until December 19th, which means that if the compact is passed before then in those four states–Missouri, Arizona, Michigan, and (most importantly, as it has the largest number of Electoral votes) Pennsylvania–then those states’ Electoral votes will go over to Hillary and she will win the presidency.
Of course, that leaves just over a month to get four state governments to pass an agreement into law. In any normal situation, that would be nigh-impossible. But the nation is essentially in crisis mode right now, and with enough attention maybe this can get fast-tracked through. Or even if it doesn’t, drawing attention to the mere fact that this compact exists may help motivate Electorates to vote against their state and towards the overall will of the country.
Either way, share this information. There’s still time.

HEY DENVER
protest 11/10/16, 5:30 on Capitol Hill
pass it on.
be there or be square.
Sometimes when driving through small, rural towns, I find something I want to photograph. A vintage car, an old house, a hand-painted sign in front of a mom-and-pop shop. Whatever it may be, I stop to admire it and say to myself, “That’s really beautiful.” And then I go on my way.
But what I (and others) find aesthetically interesting or poetic hides a hard truth. That vintage car no longer runs, that old house has weeds growing everywhere, and that mom-and-pop shop is long abandoned. Cities and more affluent towns have slowly recovered from the recession and housing crisis, but other places are silently crumbling away. Their sorrow is tangible.
Trump may only be in office for the next four years, but his supporters and their communities will be around for a long time. We cannot blame them – the farmers, factory workers, manufacturers, miners – for supporting a person they believed was their voice, for their struggles have in large part been ignored by a more urban and liberal America.
Everybody thinks they’re the good guys. Yes, a lot of Trump’s supporters say or believe in things that are truly awful and backward, but please listen to their stories and struggles, because they matter too.
I am so tired of seeing “trump is elected, get over it”, “protesting won’t do anything” like i’m sorry but protesting is a CHOICE, you don’t have to protest if you don’t want to but silencing someone who is negatively affected by this right now is really not an option. They need to show others who feel the same way that they are not alone. You and your privileged ass can stay home.
HOLY SHIT
There was a mass shooting tonight here in Seattle at a peaceful anti-Trump protest. Five protestors were shot by a lone suspect who is still at large. Two of the protestors have life-threatening injuries. Wherever you are in the world, please send love, positive energy, and/or prayers our way. You have friends in the US who could use all the love they can get.
[This story is developing. Initial reports were uncertain as to whether the shooting was related to the protest; the most recent reports suggest it followed a verbal argument near the protest. The injured protestors appear to be responding well to treatment. One man remains in critical condition.]
Facebook is just a total hot mess today.
