“No. I am not dead.” He squint at her a little, then shrugged before looking away and continuing “It matters, even if you get it every year. It’s like, you know, saying ‘happy you are alive’. You can’t celebrate someone who isn’t living anymore. What do they get out of that? So, why waste the time you do have acting like their life isn’t special?” Michael rolled his eyes “Whatever, I guess some people aren’t that aware of how rude saying something like that can be taken, or how disregarding a birthday might make the other person feel like you don’t even care they were born. Or even alive. Because there’s always next year, and what if there isn’t? What if you run out of next years?” Michael laughed a little “Sorry. I might be thinking a bit too much about it. Anyway, do you have somewhere else to be?”
Sage wasn’t expecting as much of a reply as she got, “So you’re saying because they’ve come back to live they can’t celebrate their birthday?” She questioned curiously. “Well at this rate, that last scenario is never going to happen, because people are coming back like fruit flies.” She raised her eyebrows gently and nodded, “Ya think?” She shook her head, “Nope.”
