Hi! I'm Cat, I'm a tired transmasc with an unrelenting marvel interest I've had for over a decade. Also we're a system of sorts, a practicing kemetic polytheist and a little on the schizspectrum <- call that the real Marc Spector experience.

This is my Moon Knight shitpost/ramble blog. Big fan of the Lemire & MacKay runs, enjoyer of the MCU adaptation too as its own thing. Certified multi-shipper, I pledge no allegiance. I'm an adult, if I post adult things they will be appropriately tagged & filtered etc.

Movie buff Steven Grant

Steven is always characterized by his love of egyptology (which I adore) but after a few hundred fics it starts to feel one dimensional

So why not expand on his nerdiness and make him really into movies and the technical work behind practical effects

And to keep it on theme, the specific movies he watches are always about some sort of ancient civilization exploration, or historical inspired films, or simply hint towards something egyptian-esque

Ooo yes!! Just to add to this gorgeous head canon, he also has an intense hatred of the God’s of Egypt movie (TheMythologyGuy made a great video about all its inaccuracies if you want to check it out on YT) and has gotten into hour long debates about it

LOVE all of this, would like to add the idea that maybe he got this as a childhood interest of Marc's, hence Marc already enjoying Steven's source movie. Little Marc was a movie nerd, grew out of it and is now being forced to sit through Steven's entire Letterboxd account.

Following on from Ancient, I think Steven would also have very strong opinions The Prince of Egypt, but appreciate the art and music.

Yes yes!! It's torture but Marc can't bring himself to say anything because he loves seeing Steven get excited. Side effect, he's now an absolute weapon at trivia night.

This is real as hell too ^^^ the history channel has all that alien BS on it sometimes so Steven normally hates it and watches BBC/Channel 4 documentaries instead. However that means you know Steven is truly upset/unwell when the history channel finally comes on...

They get the flu and Layla is just watching them switch back and forth snivelling and flicking between the cooking & history shows 'til they're eventually too tired to fight and she picks something for them. They're now all watching her show and are too sick to try and fight it.

I'm thinking she'd be into some sort of action-packed detective show and the day ends with Marc & Steven mostly recovered, frantically trying to guess the murderer.

YES, Steven watching the history is an indicator that something went wrong and is a great omen within the household

YES, Layla likes action-packed mysteries (she thoroughly enjoyed Knives Out)

YES, Steven and Marc get ridiculously into trying to solve the murder case before it's revealed, and get upset when they're wrong because they always go for the more complicated answer

And YES, Layla and Steven love Philomena Cunk because Layla loves the 'rip the carpet from under your feet' style of PC's comedy and Steven loves the dryness/seriousness of her delivery

Sometimes I wonder how many things reminded Tony of Peter in those five years.

Thinking about Marc looking out for the younger heroes around NYC (Spidey, Squirrel Girl, Ms Marvel etc).

A lot of the veteran vigilantes will try and give their piece of advice, show them how they do it, guide them on the path they think is righteous. Marc doesn't bother with condescension. He knows it's dangerous work and you can't do it unless you're following what you truly believe is right. It's a job where you have to walk your own path.

Instead, the Moon Knight casts no judgement. If one of the young heroes is in trouble, they can always call on Marc. There will rarely be a lecture, there will always be a solution, albeit sometimes a little gory. He does try to do the worst without them watching though. Marc knows you learn from your own mistakes so, as long as he is never called for the same issue twice, there are no hard feelings. God Khonshu knows he wasn't perfect in his early days as a fist.

The Moon Knight's services extend further than costumed villains though. Parents discovered your secret identity and kicked you out? Can't make rent because no one is hiring mutants right now? Just need a quiet moment away from the chaos? There is always a warm meal and a spare bed at the Midnight Mission, no cost, no questions asked. Well, maybe an eyebrow raise from Badr. In the years before the mission however, I can envision Steven keeping a spare apartment or two for the needy. Perhaps with a prepped meal by Uncle Jake.
